Great build and thanks for showing us

I like it, its like the alloy canopys you see on four wheel drives, except with its own wheels
@Stuangel
@Stuangel 2 года назад
its funny, but thats where Christine got the inspiration from, we were at a camp one day and she noticed someone with a canopy on the back of their ute they were using in a similar way!

@@Stuangel haha thats mad! I recently picked up a 6x4 with a canopy for the same purpose, can't put on half the stuff you're running but it beats making a mess of the car. Can't wait to see more!

Hi karahobrien4481, sorry about the late reply, this one got away from me tbh - um, I think we are going to be out in the next couple of weeks so I will run the camera over, but to be totally honest, the only thing we have really done is moved the gas bottle and mounted it out the front - oh, we are also looking into maybe installing a blow up mattress as I am starting to feel the floor XD - best regards! Like the trailer build . When i was a lot younger , 50 years ago. Dad had a trailer built for him with corner adjustable legs on for camping . Would set up a big tent with the trailer inside for Him and Mum to sleep in on blow up mattreses . we used bunks and mattreses . Just a tip if want it . I'd put a flat block under the corner legs when set up for more stability in rough or wet weather .

@Stuangel 2 года назад
thanks Barney! I have been thinking of that exact thing just recently, I was considering using some old circular saw blades (welded on) as they have a much larger surface area, kinda springy and I assumed somewhat sticky if those sides dug in, once I get those drawers in the back done I am sure a few blocks of wood will fit in there just fine! I appreciate the tip!
@barney992

@@Stuangel good idea , the wider the block is , the better and sturdier. same as i've seen on backhoe outrigger foots

Awesome build, love your ideas. Just put prebuilt draws in my sons bedroom with dual draws, mesh baskets etc (can be picked up at Bunnings). Great idea to fit one in the Trailer. Also the sliding BBQ. I have recently brought a modified box trailer and will be adding these features if room allows. A couple of changes to think about, I would get the gas bottle out in the open for safety reasons abd maybe have the sink waste fit into the drain pipe to limit leaks. Also if you find you running out of space you can pick up water tanks with bash covers to fit under the trailer (60 - 80Litres) for around $200 and they come in all shapes and sizes. Again, great job.

Hi Peter E! thanks for the comment, in regards to "gas bottle out in the open for safety reasons" thats exactly what we have done, the bottle is now mounted out the front of the trailer, just wanted to also mention the sink does have a drain pipe, I ended up just 3D printing an adaptor to go from the sink to the pipe, works a treat although right now we just manually run it out the back when we need to use it, but am planning on doing a perm fixture with some pvc pipes etc, and I probably didnt make it very visible in the video, but there is actually a 70litre water tank (caravan style) that sits bang in the middle of the trailer - great minds ;) shoot me a link if you ever do a build, would love to see it! am always looking for ideas etc.

Very nice build! I am in the process of doing all this however will take some time to get it all done however am looking forward to it being completed! We just got a 7x4 tradies trailer and converting it slowly. The amount of great builds I have seen on RU-vid and other platforms has given me some awesome ideas!

Hello jamesgroom7705, sorry for such a delayed reply, yeah I totally agree, actually I never considered doing something like this till the mrs said "oh, a friend of mind turned the back of a traidies ute into a camper, maybe we could do it with a tradies trailer" and here we are - I was just telling someone else I will try pop up an update vid to show anything new we have done but in reality, all we have really done so far is moved the gas bottle to out the front. - best - Stu

thanks The Gold Rush Guy! this (in theory) should make life much easier! and will be much easier to deal with when camping around others, rather than having to try get dressed etc, laying in the back of a 4x4 lol

Hi Tubermick, its actually top of our TODO list, was just chatting about it today, plan is to stick it out the front, but we are trying to work out if its worth running copper pipe (front to back) or just using something like a 3m gas hose instead

How does your back handle leaning over the wheel arches to wash your dishes? That’s a fare stretch 😮
@Stuangel
@Stuangel 3 месяца назад
Hi TheTravelBug123, while building it I had similar thoughts, but tbh I am around 182cm (6ft) so I dont really have a problem, chatting with Christine, she has said its a "small" stretch for her, I dont think either of us have considered it to be an actual problem, I think we had talked about it and decided to put the sink there and not somewhere like where the fridge is, as you really do need to get into the bottom of that, if I think about it, next time we are out (which should be soonish) I will grab a clip or some snaps to show you what I mean

Hi Dave Steel, I replied to you on an Alt account (I use specifically for gaming related stuff, I used to just stream vid games), not sure if it came through, but see if this helps! trailer.stuangel.com/ - if there is anything more I can help out with let me know but that page should have pretty much all the stuff we used etc.

Hi John Oliver, I have knocked up a page for you that can be found on my website trailer.stuangel.com/ ~ I have a handful of 3D models (a couple can be seen between 3:07 through to 8:00) and a short list of some of the items I used inside and out - I hope this helps in some ways - at this point in time we are really happy with everything and haven't come across anything that we feel needs to be tweaked (while I am thinking about it, a way to remove the fridge should have been somewhere on our todo list lol. we may also end up attaching a couple awning for when its raining) let me know if there is anything else you want to know, otherwise, best of luck to you! the best thing about DIY is you can make it fit your own purposes perfectly!

Hi M P, there is a digital control panel just beside the left hand lid, it can also be controlled via Blutooth using a mobile phone which makes it super easy! btw thank you for the compliment!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the fit out cost you?
@Stuangel
@Stuangel Год назад
Hi AK-to6ys, in the end I think we paid approx 10K thats like a 5K trailer and the rest just in stuff which also includes the solar system, tent and everything else - I think the tent was a little over a grand as was the solar system - actually I have a break down of most all the parts we used at this URL - I think prices have come up a little since - but it will give you a better idea - trailer.stuangel.com/

how much does it weigh?
@Stuangel
@Stuangel 6 месяцев назад
to be honest I am not sure, next time I see a weigh station I will have it weighed, as far as load on the car - due to it being a twin axel trailer it supports all of its own weight and has minimal load when being towed

Hi Rich Hard, to be honest I dunno if I would build another one, in saying that though, I assume it would take a fraction of the time and be a bit tighter, although we havent had any issues thus far, there are some things I prob would have done a smidge differently!

Great 1. to see you back and 2. a terrific build ..... had toyed with similar ideas but incorporating sleeping for 1 within the unit ...... at my age even simple centre pole 9x9 tent feels like too much like hard work (OK in cooler temps but not when it's 35+ in the goldfields). Vans can get expensive and the boat already takes up currently available storage space. Look forward to following you both on your quest to find gold/relics and enjoy what the areas have to offer.
@Stuangel
@Stuangel 2 года назад
Hi Tom and thank you! btw, I hear you, we know all about sleeping in the back of a Pajero in 30+ degrees! setting this up is surprisingly easy, essentially its fold out the tent, put in 2 pegs and decide if we want the annex or not, and pricing on new vans these days is off the rails imo, as much as I loved having a houseboat, we just never used it, it was essentially an ongoing cost (mooring fees etc.) for nothing - "find gold/relics" - oh, I should stick up a picture of the Colt Derringer Christine found - will add it to my next vid
