Thanks for the unboxing! I'm glad they made this similar to a regular board game, especially with the quality of the box and the board. Very nice and probably more what people were hoping for with the Illumineer's Quest (although I enjoyed upgrading it on my own anyway).
I would say the non inclusion of boosters is to keep collectors from buying up gateways for shots at enchanted cards. If they included first chapter boosters the resale market would be going crazy with these.
@@brandong4063 definitely think you’re right. They’ve left zero reason for established players to buy the game, except to teach folks how to play. And there is no reason to purchase multiple.
That’s fair. We’re just always sensitive to spoiling things for products with unlock-able components. I know we could have added a spoiler warning. However, we chose to gear the video to people considering whether to purchase the game and didn’t think the pack components would matter. But! If most viewers would prefer we examine every component in videos like these, we’ll take that into consideration next time. Thanks for the feedback!
@Illumiteers I understand where you're coming from, but as someone who sees a "Should you buy it?" It's hard to come to a conclusion without seeing everything included. We can't really use the unboxing thumbnail when we don't actually open everything. I appreciate the partial opening.
I've preordered this in the UK and I'm so excited to finally learn how to play it as someone who's new to Lorcana and trading card games! I've started collecting some boosters. One question, if the board acts as a playmat do you think you'd need to buy a separate one or could you use the board each time? I like your Moana one.
Great question! So...for the purposes of playing gateway, the board acts as a playmat. So, you don't need one yet. But, once you're ready to venture beyond gateway to play other decks, I would recommend purchasing a playmat for ease of travel. You can always use the board as a two player playmat. However, it is difficult to travel with, if that makes sense. Keep us posted on your Lorcana journey!
As someone who has to test decks by himself more often than not, I put the decks on the left and right side and use both my left and right hands to draw cards. 😂
@@Amberlisi I mean I don’t see how there’s an obvious way to do this. My motor skills are more than sufficient enough to hold cards with my left hand. 😂
Are the cards in this box legal to play in standard games? Trying to get my partner into the game and I know some card games release promo non legal decks
These are all legal in standard games :) Honestly, especially at the price point, I can’t think of a better way to get someone into the game. You’ll have to keep us posted if you pick up Gateway and if works for your partner!
@@cstorvold I mean, not terribly exciting for established players. But for someone just strolling through Target who has never heard of Lorcana, it could be a great product, no?
@@cstorvold it targets casuals/board gamers, and those games don't have any additional value except the value of having fun. Not sure about this product, but all board games can be easily resold too
