16 is technically possible but it would probably be unstable and also its hard to get 16 people with modded switches in one call

True. I will personally not be satisfied until this is faster than 1P/intended 2P TAS. When it is, though, it will be one of the greatest speedruns ever.

Considering the huge advantage multiplayer is, beating the TAS alone wouldn't nearly deserve it being called one of the greatest runs ever. It wouldn't be close to the level of greatness of Tyron's 57:21 in standard any% for example. If Tyron and Mitch decided to do online runs together and grinded it for a very good time, that could be one of the greatest runs ever.

It was stated he pretty much had to reverse engineer and figure out what the game code was since that's obviously no where outside Nintendo. He accidentally figured it out and just has been working to improve it so it can work with minor issues.

The only multiplayer it has are balloon world and scoreboards.

No, there is actually like 25 mins of cutscenes throughout the game, so that would be impossible

Seems very unlikely since the game doesnt only consist of gameplay but also other things like cutscenes etc (I think Smant even mentioned how much time this stuff takes in this video but I cant remember when)

But with a new board for it since the game changes to sync up moons it could have objectives with moon names and once your opponent gets it you literally cannot, would make for an incredible true Lockout mode!

Idk how the mods fully work but I’m not sure they would work together but if so I would definitely watch that seems awesome

@@charlesmayfield3 they were saying that super Mario Odyssey Superstar mode (mod made by skellux?) has its own Speedrun leaderboard. So once Crafty says that multiplayer is finished, we may just have to wait a little bit for it to get its own category

the server is not yet stable enough for 16 players but it probably will be in the future
