As a person who wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until their mid 20's you can forsure have a disorder without it affecting you until your coping mechanisms stop coping. That all being said, folks shouldn't be attempting to armchair diagnose folks, its rude. If julia needed help or felt something was wrong she(and/or jacob) would do it. :)
Yeah that whole bit made me real uncomf because on the one hand it's whack for the audience to try to diagnose but also their comments in response to it showed a real lack of understanding of how ADHD presents and a lot of inaccurate stereotyping about what it is...
I believe she’s mentioned that her brother and father both have ADHD, so I believe she’s fairly familiar with the symptoms. There’s definitely things I’ve noticed (as someone who was fairly recently diagnosed with it) that feel reminiscent of ADHD, but definitely not enough to diagnose anyone (cause you can’t do that to someone you only sort of know), and just as many things that suggest it would be unlikely for her to have ADHD as well. Turns out there’s a lot of stuff that’s pretty relatable when it comes to having ADHD, it just presents stronger than in neurotypical people.
@@HunterJE Yea, thats just the way it is, even well meaning good folks have blind spots. Also I was reminded by my Mom(teacher) that our understanding of attention disorders is still relatively new, and our treatment of them is still changing. When I was a kid in the 90's the focus was on just getting 'hyper kids' to sit and be quiet in class. Now we have realized how deep the rabbithole goes with these sorts of disorders and how broad and diverse the affects can be. I myself have fallen prey to 'oh that kids hyper must have ADHD' before I really figured out my own sitch.
@@Syren020 Well said! Like most things in life its more shades of grey than black and white. Everyone is somewhere on a scale when it comes to their ability to concentrate on tasks ect. The whole idea of medication(hopefully) is that it brings you back inbetween the 'acceptable' ends of the graph enough to then make strategies to cope. Also there are plenty of folks who if screened would probably be considered ADHD but have successfully coped and no one can say julia is not successful and, as far as we the audience can tell, happy. :) And yea Diagnosing from a singlular thing someone said on a stream is just about the worst way to do it! Because of the stereotypes of what people think ADHD is like I didn’t realize I had it until earlier this year. I just thought it was my ASD, but after befriending a guy with ASD and ADHD he told me I probably have both so I got tested. No one else thought I had ADHD because I don’t show the symptoms people think are normal and common. It was only after befriending someone with the same issues as me I was able to understand.

Whenever I look at their room all I can see is jacob horse, and I’ve had one for long enough that my brain sees it and goes, “no??? that’s mine???” Feels weird to see something I have in someone else’s house, even if I literally bought the thing from them
The cat battle on the cat tree/ shelves made me laugh out loud. They're such silly lovable creatures. It makes me happy to watch them play and get pets and generally live their best lives.
Mario truly drags out the most hilarious one liners of people: Super Mario Maker has the "don't piss on the burger" bit, Mario Party has weh-woh-weh-woh, Yoshi's Crafted World has *so* many fuck lizards... All of these are extremely rewatchable, just saying~
ADHD is so poorly named, everyone thinks it's all entirely something that a small percentage of adolescent boys outwardly display when it really isn't :( I have endless focus for certain tasks and special interests, but it comes at the detriment of all of my other basic needs. To be clear I am not diagnosing Julia here by any means, just wanted to at least comment on this since a lot of people seem to still have the wrong idea of what the actual symptoms of ADHD are cuz it has the worst name ever :/
I feel like the name’s alright if you consider the “deficit” and “hyperactive” to be describing the “attention” instead of the person. Like sometimes you can’t focus on anything (the attention deficit), and other times you are super focused on something (hyperactive attention). Definitely get your point though haha, people who don’t know much about the disorder tend to misinterpret the name and make super inaccurate assumptions (recalling the time a doctor claimed I couldn’t have ADHD [despite being diagnosed already] because I could…read books as a child…lol)
I just wanted to pop in and share that I bought the game on Thursday as my reward for coming all of Thanksgiving dinner. I am really excited to say I beat the run using an undead build that relied on summoning skeleton fodder to soak hits and buff up an archerer Fun fact I was leaving a spot open on my team and never even realized it until close to the end. I added a skeleton who regenerated and it made the last two fights seem very easy 😂
I have not made it to the ADHD commentary, but I feel it's worth saying that managing symptoms is not the same as not having ADHD. Maybe nothing would change with a professional diagnosis, as well as no one should feel like it's bad to have ADHD. Love to all the great people that watch SSS, Drawfee, and/or their individual streams.
With how often you guys play new and interesting games I've never heard of, you're better games journalists than actual games journalists! I've found so many cool games to play from this channel.
Second this. I've found some really cool games through SSS, including two of my all time favorites! Currently sitting at 95 hours in Potionomics, and I don't even know how many hours I've spent playing Wytchwood, but it has to be an insane number. Other gems I've found here include (but are not limited to): Core Keeper, Dome Keeper, Moon Hunters, Sea of Stars, Chants of Sennaar, The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, Lies of P, V Rising, Lemon Cake, Penko Park, etc. Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head, and I can honestly say if I'd just been scrolling through steam or something similar, only two on that list I would've bought without seeing Jacob and Julia stream them!

This is 100% the space ship card game I played at a conference with someone who knew from the start that they were going to murder me. To be fair, I also knew they were going to murder me at this game. I tried three different synergy coalitions, but couldn't complete any of them, so I was 100% Blazing Sword destroyed by my opponent.
Dammit Jacob. I was supposed to be asleep hours ago because I have a 2 hour drive to work today... instead its 4:30 am and I've been playing for I don't even know how long. 6 hours? 8? Can't be sure. I really like this game. 😑
EDIT: It’s called Merge & Blade There is a very similar game to this. I have it on Gamepass. The difference is that there’s a merge 3 element (your characters become a higher class when they merge). I wish I could think of the name
I want to play these cool games so bad but my academically challenging courses have the AUDACITY to be academically challenging so now I listen while studying
I hate to be that guy (and I don’t think Jacob checks these comments anyway), but god. So many of the strategic decisions that were made are just absolutely inscrutable to me. Like putting the guy that gets a free shield basically every turn and also has a very strong effect for being in the front row BEHIND the character that is basically giving them that shield, so that they almost never take damage unless they stop getting shielded. It’s just so wild to me.
Julia needs to learn how to adapt more D&D rules into how she plans Drawtectives. Plan the general overarching story, possible ways things can get spun off topic, but don’t go planning entire functional towns because YOU KNOW one of the characters will end up asking for a completely different store to exist and you’ll have to work that into the town after the fact and destroy your whole layout. Leave room for the characters to spontaneously decide something exists within the world, don’t prematurely decide everything in advance because then, while it makes everything look super polished and beautiful, then instead of your bits being the characters thinking up something wacky and Julia silently fuming because she had to draw it, it’s the characters begging for something to exist and Julia insisting it can’t because she already planned things. Both extremely funny to watch, but *slightly* different and one creates a little less work for Julia, at least I think.
Oh my god, Jacob, you passed up SO MANY good options for literally the least impactful possible option after the mind dude. Your hero is *entirely* about attacking as many times as possible, triggered off allied deaths, so that Blood Wisp item would have been perfect! Edric's Boots or the Titanic Hammer would have at least provided *some* value, but you instead went for "basically nothing at all".
They don’t, beyond factual descriptions of symptoms that align with the diagnosis criteria. They say that they, as actual people, know themselves better than people on the internet who watch their content, and that ADHD, to their knowledge, doesn’t apply to Julia. I’m not trying to be annoying, but I also don’t want them to be misrepresented in the comments if someone scrolls through and doesn’t know the context because it took me forever to find that segment of the stream. Sorry, this just ate half an hour of scrubbing through the video as I was trying to write an essay for college because I was worried that there was some big controversy and it would have distracted me to no end while I was trying to work. No disrespect intended
