On flavs point about the sponsors getting more seats, the only reason there are so many sponsors for football is because of the fans, if there was less fans at the games there would be less sponsors because the money is in football because of popularity of the sport not because of the actual sport, sponsors don’t care about the football they care about how many people are watching.

As someone who is going to Madrid through work, I can vouch with what Flav says about it being a pain to get to Madrid... its a logistical nightmare and thats before you then have to find accommodation etc

While I am one of the signs that would like aritzia sorry to stay for another year or two and then make them move for Frank Lampard Counterpoint is the fact that while he does like experience and you brought up other managers that lacked experience and asked where they are now, look at Jurgen klopp, Pep Guardiola, and Zidane. Now what would need to be pointed out is that Dortmund Barcelona and Real Madrid a very different infrastructure in place then the starting point that they would be giving Frank Lampard at Chelsea

Derby fan here. I’ve been impressed with Lampard in his first season. He’s drastically changed our style of play from Rowett’s cautious and ultimately negative setup (see Fulham away in the playoffs) to a much more attractive and fast paced style, competing well with the likes of Man United and Chelsea in the league cup and getting us the closest we’ve been to promotion since the 13/14 season. He’s managed to do this while having fairly limited funds in comparison to previous managers, using loans to his advantage and promoting some academy players like Jayden Bogle, who’s been fantastic this season. Ultimately if we are promoted, he’s achieved something no previous manager has since 2007 and has definitely exceeded fans’ expectations. I wouldn’t begrudge him a move to Chelsea as that link will stay as long as he’s with us, but I do hope we get a couple more seasons from him as I believe he could create a fairly solid Premier League outfit with the right resources.

Don’t stop I’ll miss you guys over summer 😂

I’ve been friends with a guy from secondary school for the 4 years after we left (we are both 19 and 20 and I am second year at uni). We had an amazing time at school together, so many funny moments and laughs. A group of us stayed friends and we are all good mates, but this guy is like my best friend, almost to a brotherly level. Anyway, over the past couple of years he has changed a lot. He used to be really social, enjoying drinking and having a laugh with the lads and with his own friends too. But after he failed his AS levels and went to work, he’s become a bit of recluse. He got far too drunk when three of us met up one time last year, vowed to stop drinking and hasn’t touched a drop since. He won’t come to any nights out and barely meets up with us when we meet as a group. Being that he’s my best mate, I obviously do see him one on one still and obviously we still have a laugh and joke when we do. I have spoken to him about this, and he says that he just gets really nervous when he’s asked to do stuff and backs out. I’ve told him he should see a doctor or something because to me it sounds like he has social anxiety or something, but he refuses any help because he doesn’t want to talk about it to anyone else. I really don’t want him to get too bad because it will end up him missing out on the best moments of our lives together, and I don’t want him to be left behind. What can I do to try and sort him out, or how can I get him to look for help? Cheers lads, know its a bit of a deep topic. The EL final was in Basel or some shit 3 years ago when the reds got there. We all complained because we got 7k tickets each. Inevitably got told that we’re ‘always the victims’. If the owner or a prominent player are outwardly prejudice against you in some way I think thats ok to renounce your fan-ship (ex. if Klopp and King Kenny, and FSG announced they all hate gay people, you can decide not to support them anymore... I think) . You cant just pick another club though. You should have to be a football widow and just try to enjoy the game again for a few years and see who you naturally gravitate towards.

Cheers for using my tweet lads gonna respond I guess, if Lampard left us for chelsea in a situation where we got promoted it would leave us in an awful situation. He has created a feeling at the club not created before ( since I’ve been alive anyway ) and a brilliant relationship with the fans which probably couldn’t be repeated we’ve had some terrible managers such as clement, Pearson and rowett I’d rather be in the championship with Frank than premier league with say Chris houghton. Also signing mount, tomori, Wilson, Marriott would not have happened without frank and the attraction of the club would be lower without frank for potential new players in a premier league season. Having followed us home and away this season to get to the premier league on Monday then not to have Frank would be heartbreaking (even more heartbreaking than the play off final in 2014 James). Win or lose I want Lampard as our manager next season. As for Chelsea you have a fucking europa league final this week and all you can think about is our manager, fucking small time if I’ve ever seen it. Objectively it’s too soon for frank he’s made tactical mistakes at times this season, needs to learn abit more as a manager. Side note saw the thumbnail and shat myself what a cursed image

*PLEASE READ*An actual calm take this week: woman’s football would be much more credible if woman made their own football clubs not just Liverpool Ladies etc... MUFC used to be called Newton Heath L&YR F.C. and built themselves into a business and a credible club. It just seems like football clubs have tried to appease the masses by saying “look we do football for woman aren’t we great”. it all just seems very forced and manufactured like MCFC(why people don’t really care if they win the league) as a club, hard to attach yourself to. Men’s football started with people paying to play and it earned its right to become a living for the lucky few good enough to play pro. I understand historically woman have had the opportunities to start playing football earlier but surely the FA have enough money to fund this sort of thing so they would have a better starting point than men’s football did and make the game of a higher quality at a faster speed than men’s.

Ok, we need better language around money in football. Ultimately, all the money comes from the fans. Even the sponsorship money comes from the fans. Whether directly through ticket sales or indirectly through sponsors getting an advertisement in front of the fans so they can get the fans to buy something, the money still comes from the fans. How people, clubs, or companies with lots of money decide to spend their money is a function of power. When you talk about player and agent salaries (in comparison to trainers, nutritionists, or stewards at the match), you're talking about power. Fans never get what they want unless they work together. Football is always unavoidably political, and any fan that really cares about the game should be involved to some degree in fan-related causes.

I don't know about comparisons with the normal world, but if MBS takes over Man United, I will excuse myself from the support

Flav makes a great, yet irrelevant point. Most of the money comes from sponsors, BUT, if there was no one there to watch the adverts etc UEFA wouldn’t get paid anything by sponsors. I get what he means but it’s bollocks, give them a few tickets throughout the course of a CL season and leave the final for fans. People grow up dreaming of going to a final and can’t because someone that doesn’t even like football is a bit bored of the theatre and wants a day out doing coke in Madrid with free booze.
