Join us as we step back in time to the second world war, to learn about this incredible invention, "The Bombe", and how breaking the Enigma code saved millions of lives, and shortened WW2 by several years! 💽🧠 ‪@BletchleyParkTrust‬

In 2012 my Mum passed, so I left Canada and left home for England to say Goodbye ❤ Before leaving England to go back to Canada I went to the museum too. When I found my Mum’s name in the book of the people who helped break the code, she worked with Morse Code. I just broke down cried and grieved heavily for a long time , so glad my hubby had come back with me and held me up.

Thanks for taking me to Bletchley! Have read books and watched movies, but never got to visit. These girls like those who worked on the bomb here in the US had to keep all this secret for decades.

I love that: a. You go to museums (with helpful tips) b. You show us (if possible) the museums. I used to work in a museum that was busy until 9/11. Just as people were starting to come back, COVID hit. Keep going to museums, please, and continuing to learn! The algorithms took me back to your first vlog and I have to say that Gregory's Girl looks so much better now, inside and out! Good work!

Great vlog and so interesting. My husband can send morse at an amzing speed and receive it even faster. One of the only ways to remain in contact when all else fails. Bletchley is a fantastic place. Poor Alan Turin deserved much better.

Thank you so much U2 for going into Bletchley Park and spending those six hours not only for yourselves but for us… I have watched quite a few movies about Bletchley Park and the life of Alan Turing. It truly was sad how his life ended when he did so much good. I am a World War II buff and I was not born during World War II, but 11 years after and I’m very very grateful that even though it took a tragedy for the USA to get involved we did because I found out I’m 48% British I do a lot of volunteering in my little town 2000 people and my newest is the museum.

Thank you! It’s so interesting, admittedly we don’t know a huge amount about WW2, but we really like learning. Alan Turing’s story is so fascinating but so tragic too. We’re glad he at least gets recognition in today’s day. That’s so good of you! 🥰

As I’ve said before I get so excited when people go to Milton Keynes as I used to live there and my office was in Bletchley. Until the pandemic, I went back to England every year and was delighted in 2019 to visit Bletchley Park. It’s an amazing museum, when I lived in Milton Keynes Bletchley Park was still off-limits except for the mansion, which was a venue we had our secretaries birthday party there. I’m so enjoying your time on the Grand Union Canal as it makes me feel that I am back in Merry Old England. Not sure when I’ll get back now though as I have health issues, which makes traveling somewhat challenging. Love your vlog is they always so entertaining and informative. You are just a loveliest of couples. Keep up the good work greetings from across the pond in Northeast Pennsylvania.

What an interesting place. You’ve sold it to me, I’ll definitely visit if I’m in the area. My son is home educated and interested in technology, especially computers, so it would be a great place to take him. Also we are both Neurodivergent -Autistic +ADHD, and Alan Turing was also Autistic and it was his brilliant Autistic mind that allowed him to think outside the box and come up with the inventions he did, so a great role model to show that Autists are capable of amazing things.

My grandparents worked at Bletchley: Grandpa was headhunted because he was a linguist - spoke 9 languages fluently. He died before the 50 year official secrets period was up, so we don't know much, but we do know he cavorted around Europe spying under the guise of a journalist; Meanwhile, my grandma - who was Austrian - worked on propaganda & misinformation radio broadcasts to Germany etc., even whilst pregnant with my mother (born 1942). Pre-war spying, my grandparents dined in a restaurant at the next table where Hitler was celebrating some great achievement by the Nazi party😐.

I did this visit over 2 consecutive days last year and i was blown away by just how complex everything seemed to be, but at the same time frighteningly simple. Turing was a genius way ahead of his time, and much of what he did i used in some way or another during my time in the Royal Navy, especially in '82 down south. Thanks for posting this brought back happy memories of the trip with my partner before he passed.

Have to raise one point. They deciphered the messages there, and Turing created the Bombe to automate part of the work, but it was actually the Polish who had cracked the code and gave that knowledge to the Western Allies.

I wish I had visited here. I have been to the Uk 55 times and never visited here. You actually have benefited from the work they did here and your lives today are because of this work here. Several years ago, Prince Charles said that 67% of British people do not know the history of WWII, at least the younger generation. The history is in your face every day. I wrote a novel that I never published about the women who manned the canal boats during the war. How worthy their work was. So glad you are at Bletchley and caring about what you are witnessing. Best to you, Jane, Philadelphia

During the Vietnam Conflict I used a modified version of the Turing machine. I would be locked in a little green room for 72hours at a time. Coded messages would be passed through a slot in the door. I would use the machine to decrypt the messages, then reset it and have it re-encrypt the messages. Then I would pass a new coded message out the slot to be transmitted on. I was the only person at the time who knew what the messages said, between US commands stateside and on the front lines. The trade off was breakfast every morning with the XO in his suite, and sweet duty otherwise.
