As I'm nearly 80 years old it would be impossible for me physically, to undertake this journey. Thank you for your time and expertise that enabled me to join you on this amazing walk.
I love the hiking videos. It gives me inspiration and ideas for future walks for myself. Having been through a tough 18 months due to my marriage breaking up and as a consequence battling depression and anxiety your RU-vid videos along with Wandering wheres vids have kept me going. . Keep up the good work you and Helen. Look forward to seeing more hiking videos and maybe one day I'll see you on the trails.
As Wandering Where would say, get out there for a bumble you know you know! 😂 Their videos have helped me too. Whilst I was immobile waiting for a couple of operations and recovering I was watching videos like these and felt better for it, I need to work on getting out and about more so like you say it’s inspiring. Hope life’s improving for you 😊
@@bythecurb thanks mate and hopefully I will see yourself and Helen out and about. I took my 8 yr old lad out last Friday (as half term) and we tried gecaching for the first time. It was great to be out and definitely does wonders for the mental health.
@@MissManifest369. thanks. They are great videos and it does help watching them, especially seeing new places for myself to visit. Hope you're on the mend and getting better. x
I really love the variety of your videos James. Seeing you and Helen out walking is just as entertaining watching you enjoy the pubs and chip shops how many different towns and cities! Your channel is quite simply the best of any others ive seen. Thanks both - you bring so much happiness to other people. 😊❤
Lovely to watch. We used to do this sort of thing until my husband developed arthritis in his hip. As the NHS barely functions now due to this ruddy government, he can’t even get on a waiting list for treatment. So until something changes, I’ll be relying on you guys to take me hiking! Keep it up while you are able. ❤
I love watching your hikes. You remind me of the walks my husband and I do........only my hubby is the one striding ahead and I do the camera. Great stuff 👍🏼
Ooh Kevin Costner yum ❤ lol. Another great video xx I will be 66 next month have uncontrolled asthma and have light-headedness after the vaccine, I'm so pleased you took us on this walk as I personally couldn't do it but now I feel I don't have to as I feel I've already been, thanks to you two ❤❤ xx
I love all your videos be it hiking, city visits, holidays abroad whatever I have never missed one yet. I really enjoy the variety and it is this that keeps me watching... so I guess I am saying it is not all about the content but more about James and Helen's lovely personalities. All the best you two, David x
Just to say we loved the hike around Hadrians wall. Thank you we could never do it you both looked tired near the end. We both thought you have got your lovely cosy van waiting for you. All the best for now. Andy Pat from Norfolk.
great walk you should definitely join the national trust as there are lots of fantastic locations around the country and some amazing sites in your neck of woods
I love going on hikes from the warm comfort of home ..lol....thank u..I would have freaked out coming face to face with the hairy beasts..you handled them well James..keep safe..happy blisters....
What a lovely day you had today. And me watching. I felt like I was with you. I absolutely loved every minute of it. And, as you, James .. love a good muff. 😊 Seriously, I don't get out much , as I suffer with depression and severe anxiety. So I'd love to do what you're doing. So this is next best thing. Thank you 👍
@bythecurb I've got another little tip for you, James and Helen. When you finished a long hike like today, get a bowl of nice warm water and add some Epsom salts. Then just sit back in comfort and soak your feet . you'll feel the difference 100%. Just give it a try. So, just add a cup of Epsons to a bowl of nice warm water and relax 👍
That was a great look at Hadrian’s Wall. I was devastated when I heard about the Sycamore Gap tree getting brutally chopped down. It was a symbol of Northumberland. Hopefully it will soon spring up with life again 🙏
Firstly you should check-out a book called Wainwright's Coast to coast book a well as Wainwright's Pennine Way.. The photograph's of Derry Brabbs are stunning!! I, myself, walked the Pennine Way from December , 24th, 1981 . I made it to Kirk Yetholm 16 days later - 9th of January , 1982. I was 15 years old......and wet. Just totally cold and wet. I spent the eve of the walk in a almost Summer's day Edale. It was gorgeous. From the wee, small hours at the beginning of the first day's walk it rained; hard. From start to finish it as-good-as rained. Due to my food, my rucksack, sleeping bag, tent and all my clothes being soaked I walked non-stop for a full 24 hours. ( I kid you not James and Helen ) I covered 52 miles in that period. The weird stand-out memory was a conversation I had while waiting for a coach in Kirk Yetholm. A local gave a long coverage of the travelling / gypsy community in Yetholm. ( I'm pretty sure he said that the camp site was owned by a gypsy king ). And, now , I find it quite ironic that, due to having been paralysed, I can't move one step without a mobility aid. Three walkers; seven manual wheelchairs; two electric wheelchairs; a mobility scooter; crutches and, of course, a flipping Zimmer frame. That said, I'm trying to learn to speak as well as read Korean for, some day , I'll open my eyes and realise that I'm walking along the coastline of South Korea. Hmmm. One day. Meanwhile, what a great video. And when you mentioned Tuck shops......made me smile. Made me smile a lot.
Thank you, I'm sorry to hear about your mobility problems, my dad's the same and a few other subscribers are. They tell me that they love the hiking vlogs as they can come along from the comfort of their own homes. We will do more of these this year :-)
Another great video love the diversity of van life/town life/pub life/hiking life. You keep it interesting and the banter with you both is really entertaining 😂😊 keep it up it’s fab 👍🏻
Great vlog!! I couldn’t do that walk now, so this was a wonderful way of experiencing it and the company was very entertaining. At one point I couldn’t even look as it was so steep, yes, I get vertigo watching from the sofa 😅.
I have visited Hadrian's Wall when i was a boy, and still see it in my minds eye and thinking is this is all that's' this is a disappointingly low wall ! Thanks to your channel i appreciate the Wildness and felt the Romans soldiers sense of the how they were at the remote edge of everything Roman in the Wild windy back of beyond.
I'd like to see more of these videos! Especially archaeological sites I walk the ridgeway ( National Trails) and coastal paths. Helen, my kind of walker!
Helen, you are so well prepared. James I felt for you puffing and panting going up those steps😮 I wonder if rate my takeaway would climb all those steps, and put his table on the top.😊
Thanks J&H. I'm presently waiting for a second knee replacement .But I was there, with you. Tagging along at the rear. In mind, if not body . Listening to your light hearted, grumpy commentary was cracking me up."Helen ,unlocking the countryside !". Best wishes JR
"Breaking into the countryside"!! 😄 class 👏 Loved this video - I like every type of content you produce. Proper nice people you two are 👍 getting a bit worried I comment too much on your vids! But ultimately - it's good for the algorithm 🤗
Much more entertaining than the town history videos (in my opinion) , that was a good effort by you both considering you have not done a hike for 6 months ! lovely British countryside can't beat it ..... with just the faint echo of a old grump saying "are we nearly there yet " ...Helen earplugs are the answer !
As I'm very lazy it would be impossible for me physically, to undertake this journey. Thank you for your time and expertise that enabled me to join you on this amazing walk.
Fair play to you 2 James Helen has lost loads of weight since your first videos started mate well done and it was the Jordies that kept the scott's back king George's English men not that wall shame that wall wasn't build down Dover
Different vid absolutely k- shattered watching it never been to Hadrian wall it was interesting to see from the warm and dry of my living room you definitely both deserve a well earned pint 🍺 👍
Great video again, guys. Helen is fantastic as a guide. I missed doing Hadrian's wall when in Newcastle last. I'll definitely do it next time. Did you do the ferry from north shields to south shields? Very short but a lovely view of the city's bridges when on the Tyne. Looking forward to the next trip...😊
I was fuming when that tree was cut down 😢, I watched that Robin Hood film a couple of weeks ago and was fuming again, aww it's so sad. Loved this video, but like someone commented I knackered now 😊
Great vlog both, loved every minute of your adventure. We went to see the sycamore gap a couple of years ago and it was amazing. Your vlog brought back a lot of good memories so thank you. We really enjoy your hiking vlogs so keep up the good work😊
I love the hiking videos. I always enjoy the scenery wherever you go and I like the fact that you are not fitness freaks but regular people enjoying your walks, encountering mud and cows and enduring the burn 😀 Bring 'em on ❤
Absolutely brilliant guys. You’re up in my neck of the woods & it’s good walking country but some long, tedious stretches. Was laughing so much when you said “the depressing thing is we’re still walking in the opposite direction of the van” 🤣🤣 More hiking videos please!
Missed these hiking vlogs guys, Helen loved yr commentary 😂and yr I go on the romans 😂. So sad about the sycamore gap tree. Haha Helen keeper of the styles. Bless ya James. Trench foot 😂. Seeetheee Maxx
Guys please stay safe and don't take risks if you trip or fall and one of you twists your ankle and are unable to walk this could have some terrible consequences for you and also the cost of a mountain rescue turnout .. so Helen look after the old lad .. and yourself please ..
Breaking into the countryside! Only a townie would say that! LOL! Reminds me of when teachers took a gang of city schoolkids to the country, & saying 'those black & white things in the field are cows, so don't break them'.
We live just down the road from here and its very rare the wind will allow you to fly a drone up there by the fort. Love your vids, keep them coming thank you
Thank you both for taking me to a place I couldn't possibly get to now due to years of a misspent youth and gallons of ale, that was brilliant. If you ever go to Shrewsbury, Carding Mill Valley is not too far away. I'm sure you'd enjoy it. Thank you.
Mate u don’t have to apologise to those people that these videos aren’t to their liking - they can simply not watch them and u can go on entertaining those ppl that DO like them - keep up the great videos
Even your hiking videos are getting loads of views now...people just love following you both, whatever you happen to be doing in your lives...😊 Also just had to mention how Helen really gets into 'the zone' when she puts her hiking gear on...She is really on a mission! You do too James, just in a more sedate way!😊
Well done guy's enjoyed it nice footage james and very imformative,i can see you did your homework . I love all the variety of vlogs you bring . Well done for keeping up with helel she probably spoted a pub on the map mate. 😂
Thank You for coming to Northumberland I hope you enjoyed yourselves. So sorry that you didn't get to see the Sycamore Tree thanks to some mindless fkn idiot cutting it down 😥
Omg that looked hard work wore me out just watching very cold too by the look of things as for the hiking vids love everything you two do its awesome 👍😎
Decided to watch this video after all the bad news but then even this seems sad because of the iconic tree chopped down on Adrian’s wall .love the walking I get breathless now like you walking LOVELY Helen is well informed on the tree my feelings about the shoot at the base is because of all the dead having the ashes put there feeding the roots I have seen so many beautiful pictures that photographer has taken with colour of sky behind if i could find one I would put it on my wall .
