This is inspiring! I attended grammar school and high school in Lawrence. Only one person from my childhood--an inspiring teacher, Sr. Mary Long, S.N.D.--spoke of the strike. To my mind, knowledge in Lawrence of this major achievement, by workers, and by women, of so many nationalities, was buried, and nearly forgotten.
I love this video. Every high school student needs to see this. In the 21st century we need to get beyond male vs. female. It was ALWAYS about the 1% vs. the 99%.
Just stumbled across your video after visiting the Lawrence Heritage Visitor's Center, which had some information on the Bread and Roses strike. Impressive work by the young filmmakers unearthing this hidden history of the collective struggle. Let's hope our generation can follow in the footsteps of these brave women and men.
Watched it again today. Truly this should be shown in all schools. I was surprised that President Taft, a Republican president, supported the strikers!
