Canada was warned by intelligence intercepts from our allies which includes the USA that his life was in danger so RCMP told him of the threat which they are legally obliged to do under Canadian law. Intercepts turned out to be true as you can see from the results.

A person was murdered in Canada and the perpetrators of murder was caught in Canada. So the primary duty of the law enforcement agencies is to prove the perpetrators guilty in the court of law.
