Why the hell are we so bent on not having pilots? Screw that. I enjoy flying, I enjoy operating a helicopter, and I enjoy the peace of mind knowing I can take over in the event that some autonomous system decides to stop working.
Because pilots cost shitloads of money in salary, training and management and they can also only work limited hours. Automation is what increased safety in aviation. And Sully would have stalled and killed all those people had the Airbus flight computer not regulated his AoA and speed for him when he did that water landing. So yeah that's where its going. First it will be only one pilot plus a datalink backup, later fully automated with a human supervisor of several planes. And eventually just an AI running the show. Well you may not like it. But you can get a drink with the horsecart guy and Trade stories about how unfair the World is..
Sponsored by Airbus and they show helicopters made by Bell.:D You know Airbus makes helicopters too, right? Also, I would much rather have the Eurocopter EC155 (Airbus H155 as it's now called). Or the H160, that one is mighty impressive.
Your name sounds Hungarian. Yeah...I don't get that either with the Airbus sponsoring of a feature on a pair of Bells. I love the H155, such a beauty of a rotorcraft.
Just reading this now but I’m 2021 there are a handful of EV companies trying this same tactic but with a quad copter of sorts. Though it falls short with only 50nm of range
