If anyone wants to understand decay and tax and how they affect things here: Firstly, When you apply an element but it doesn't cause a reaction (i.e. creates an aura), it's gauge is reduced by 20%. This is called the aura tax. So 1U hydro becomes 0.8U and 2U becomes 1.6U. All aura also slowly decay overtime. Auras created by 1U attacks decay at ~0.084 gauge per second. Auras created by 2U attacks decay at ~0.133 gauge per second. Swirl has a reaction coefficient of 0.5. Which basically means that when a swirl occurs by a 1U anemo attack, it consumes 0.5U of the aura. And 2U anemo consumes 1U of the aura. And lastly. Kazuha skill is quite complex. The initial cast applies anemo but it first scans all elements in its hitbox. Then according to the priority of Pyro > hydro > Electro > Cryo, an element is infused in his plunge. When he plunges, it first applies the element that was infused into it and then applies anemo. The initial cast of tap applies 1U anemo. Same for semi-hold. Hold applies 2U anemo. The absorbed element of the plunge and it's anemo hit are both 1U. So with all of that combined what happens with Childe skill and yelan burst cast is that they apply an aura of 1.6U on enemies -> Bennett burst vaporises 1U from it -> the aura was also slowly decaying so it becomes less than 0.5U by the time Kazuha uses his skill. Since 1U anemo can remove 0.5U of aura, kaz tap E swirls and remove the hydro aura. Bennett burst applies pyro on Kazuha which he absorbs into his skill. When he plunges he applies the absorbed pyro and then applies anemo to swirl it. What causes this to fail is that if you tap e too quickly then Bennett burst doesn't get enough time to apply pyro to kazuha and since there is no object with pyro, his plunge absorbs the hydro from the enemy instead. The delay of N1 tap e, hold E and semi hold E give enough time to Bennett burst to apply pyro on kazuha. And as Jamie has said there is really no difference between 1U anemo and 2U anemo here. It's all about the delay. But for xingqiu and yelan's fresh 0.8U aura, 1U anemo from tap E can not completely remove it. So when Kazuha plunges, the pyro absorption is wasted on vaping the remaining hydro on the enemy and the anemo hit of the plunge does nothing and pyro swirl fails. 2U anemo from hold E can remove the 0.8U and then the plunge can apply pyro+swirl it for the double swirl. If you wanna know even more than this, take a read through the genshin fandom wiki's page on Elemental gauge theory.
Something to note/add regarding the aura decay in the situation of Xingqiu/Yelan re-applying Hydro is that 1u auras have a slower decay rate than 2u auras do. Not only are the auras fresh, but base 1u auras (0.8 after aura tax) decay at a rate of ~0.084 GUs per second, while base 2u auras (1.6 after aura tax) decay at a rate of ~0.13 GUs per second, more than 1.5x faster. Stronger auras have a faster decay rate than weaker auras do.
@@jamiekb9v AFAIK, the way we count gauge units is also not consistent with how CN theorycrafters reference the same concepts. My Chinese isn't good enough to really understand the details, but IIRC they use a different system to tabulate elemental gauges than we do.
@@jamiekb9vwhy U is bad tho? Do u suggest just to rescale it to 1200u or smth? I'm interested if it's somehow different and if so how it's actually more useful.
it keeps the decay rate of the original GU that created the aura even if you apply a stronger aura afterwards. To contrast that you usually say 1A 2B and 4C, which can then become, in the case of a yelan proc/E/BB or all three + Q initial, 2A, so very long lasting aura 4A would be the longest lasting and it lasts 38s, bonkers
A mistake??!?! That's it. Unsubscribed, unfollowed, unliked, uncommented, unwatched, uninstalled, returned my pc. (Good stuff that it's cleared up properly now. Wild that it took this long considering how long these characters have been out...)
I'd personally just stick to basically always doing hold. You generally do this setup right before swapping into someone that wants a good amount of field time, and the only exception would probably be National with Xingqiu/Yelan. Even in that situation I could imagine Xingqiu's orbitals being enough of a pain to just stick to hold E to make sure you remove all of the hydro. Edit: forgor to mention, but hold has 1 more particle (+ grouping) which is why Id use it when the cooldown doesnt matter.
there's many situations even with childe where it's multiwave with new enemies spawning when I want to switch back into kazuha quickly. In this case I would prefer the shorter cooldown on his grouping. but yes, a lot of the time you can just stick with hold! 👍
Lol ... so it was never about the strength of the hold skill but rather its delayed timing. This allows the weaker press version of the skill to achieve the same result, if you just wait/delay a little bit.
I thought everyone said "hold E", cuz for international 2nd rotation in single target you use Childe's charged shot to remove pyro and apply hydro at the same time. And you have 0.8U, so its hold E anyways. And cuz for the fisrt rotation you actually anyways have to wait until pyro is applied to you, its much easier to just remember "just always do hold E", cuz you dont care about longer CD anyways. But looks like people start taking "Any double swirl = hold E" for granted. .-.
I knew all of this and I thought it was known very well by at least theorycrafters because it can be fairly important, especially for speedrunning It surprises me that you didn't realize that it was due to the waiting because in the previous video, you show that you don't get the pyro dmg% but Kazuha's skill infused hydro so there would have been no way that you applied pyro to swirl it but anyways, now this should make it more clear for people who didn't know how this stuff worked
@@jamiekb9v My usual Double-Swirl set up for Kazuha/Benny/Xiangling/Xingqiu was: *XingqiuQ NA > BennyQ NA > Kazuha step back HoldE Plunge* Since *Kazuha HoldE* doesn't seem to actually remove more Aura than *TapE,* I'm guessing it should technically work if I just wait long enough during my *Step Back* for BennyQ's self-pyro application to occur.
I always held E to give time to the game to apply pyro on Kazuha and also because I knew there are rare cases where you could just not get Bennett's buff on Xiangling if you alt+her number to use her burst and she happened to use it before the pyro app happens, this can also happen with Beidou and a few others, thats why I try to use both characters skills first and then use their bursts.
I already knew I can tap E for kazuha to do double swirl after waiting for bennett self pyro but thanks for clarifying the details. Maybe I didnt have that problem due to my high ping?
So basically keep using hold E since you have to wait anyway, unless you are a peasant with c0 kazuha and will need to use his Skill again and hold CD too long?
this game mechanic is rarely use anyway. even dual swirl and EC might use it from time to time, one is on auto with setup, and other is just chaos. Frozen Hydro swirl being annoyed by apply Cryo too much, etc. anyway for anyone want to see Aura, Tax, Decay in action: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CRYFIJlmXFA.html
I don't have Kazuha yet. So is Sucrose just better for double swirl with guoba? I do play International, how much, if at all is Kaz an upgrade to the team?
@@jamiekb9v Thanks for the reply. After about a year of playing Genshin, my Xiangling build is not where I would like it to be. My bloom teams are more comfy to play and easier for abyss clears so idk... Since I'm fairly new whats a relatable Xiangling build for this comp? Because Iv'e seen some videos with some nutty Xianglings and it just feels bad man
@@luisestevan3272 xiangling can use a ton of polearms, and you can use the artifact strongbox to passively farm her BIS set emblem. she should be easy to build up to a solid level
Also, fun fact. You actually can guoba swirl with kazuha. You just have to start your e in guoba's fire as it breaths out. Edit: I have been corrected. Kazuha can only infuse off guoba (still could be usefull) but cannot swirl for damage % buff or VV off guoba
@@Cocxy69 it does not, it's just that kazuha applies pyro before doing his anemo hit, try it out vs smth like a hydro phantasm, you won't get a pyro swirl, just so you can be SUPER sure, build Kazuha with crit and watch the """swirl""" (absorption) land one
@@Hezkun swirl only happens when the enemy is applied with that element, so I'm not talking about the exclamation mark pyro. So on normal enemies you can wait half a second for gouba to breathe, or plunge if not to apply pyro and swirl. And yeah not on those hydro enemies like that
@@Cocxy69 That's not Guoba swirl. Guoba swirl mean you directly swirl Pyro on Guoba himself onto other entities, which currently can only be done with Sucrose and Faruzan. They can apply Pyro VV on enemies with existent non Pyro aura on them.
just read the text explaining his talents in game they say why u cant swirl 2 cause he got some elemental priorities , and swirl is literally infusing the anemo w the element swirling it dont matter hold or press , and about hold more anemo aplication is not true because his skill is not how much anemo he aplies but its a plunge dmg
