Thank you for that Ganyu section. I was losing my mind whenever I saw so many people completely ignore her burst when it's absolutely phenomenal the moment there are two enemies on field *and* it makes swirling Cryo infinitely easier otherwise. The Lyney section was really eye-opening and it makes so much more sense in context of those rotations and the buff duration. I'd love a part 2 especially with some more discussion surrounding weapons and the context where some weapons might gain value over others.

It's scary how much Ganyu is misunderstood by the community despite being such an old character. And it's not like the misconceptions about her are only spread by casuals who heard a rumour (like Bennett's C6 being bad) while theorycrafters try to fix the outdated information, but in Ganyu's case even the TCs don't really know how to play her.

Man i really don't understand why they give Nymph an 8 sec duration, more so when most other dps sets have at least a 10 sec duration.

You mention this a bit a couple times in the video, but I think in general people tend to underestimate mixed sets and how much having better substats can outweigh differences in set bonus strength. There is a tendency from people to really bias toward using 4pc sets. There is an allure to a character having a “BiS” and a dissatisfaction I see people have with using mixed or rainbow sets when that BiS is not that good. Crit substats are generally worth around a 2-3% increase in your average damage output. This increase from substats is unconditional-you don’t have to jump through some arcane hoops and play your characters in a certain way to get those stats, they just always work. Most people who have been playing the game a long time probably have those 1-2 insanely cracked pieces on Glad/Wanderer/Shim/etc that they got farming for something else. You get some crazy piece that’s better than anything else on your account, but you don’t have enough good pieces to make it a full set. But if you put it in a 2pc/2pc, it’s providing a ton of substat value that is hard for a 4pc set to beat. If your “BiS” 4pc is only 5-10% better than 2pc/2pc, that single cracked piece can already outweigh the difference in set bonus. Are you willing to grind that one domain a year or more waiting for a piece that’s as good as that single cracked piece just to get a tiny upgrade over what you already have? There are some set bonuses that really do provide exceptional benefit for the characters they’re for. Of course you’d never use a mixed set on Raiden because the value of the 4pc is immense and not realistically feasible for substats to outweigh on a mixed set. But a lot of 4pc sets in this game really are not that good and you really have to ask whether that theoretical 5-10% better set bonus is worth the cost when a good mixed set is probably already sitting unused in you inventory.

i've been watching a lot of genshin content and tc content on youtube for a while, but this was the first time that i heard the stuff you said about ganyu! the information about no burst meltyu and hunter's path being bis definitely has been engrained into the community, and i was very surprised by everything you mentioned. on another note, i would love to see a ganyu guide from you at some point!

I think many were mislead into why m.hunter is always needed... it's because of the crit rate. Ya that's the trap. So far I've only given Noelle 4pc m.hunter because the 2pc bonus works on her as in her main dmg output is normal and charged atk, plus she teams with furina in my Navia team. So for me, 4pc m.hunter only works fully with characters that has normal or charged atk as main dmg output + has a way to manipulate HP or with furina in team. Lyney was the 1st one that many were mislead into giving m.hunter 4pc to, because it was the new set that time and many CCs thought 'oh new set must be for new character' or 'oh 2pc charged atk bonus!' but they forgot Lyney dealt huge dmg with both his E and Q too. Yes, I'm using 2pc 2pc on my Lyney too, so as to make it flexible and not restrict him to 4pc lava walker in a pyro only team.

Definitely make a part two! I don’t have either Lyney or Childe so those didn’t pertain to me. Though in general I’d say you have to be careful with MH. For most carries it will tie them to the hip with Furina which can get repetitive. It’s about as fun as being dependent on Bennett. 😴 I recently switched my Navia from MH to GT cause for me the fun in playing Navia is swapping on and shotgun blasting and then switch back off, so she wasn’t getting any stacks from MH. If I had Xianyun it would be different, Navia plunge is so satisfying and feels so violent haha. I’ve played 4 WT for melt Ganyu since I got her as my first limited 5*, good to know I was on the right track the whole time!

ER calculators are more often than not overestimating ER requirements not that it is a bad thing but people need to understand that there are many workarounds for lower ER like funneling and the book hack for collecting particles on characters you want energy on.

Well, Nyphm isnt that terrible, if you arent planning to learn complex set up on Internat, or u playing Childe in other teams, Nyphm is still indeed his BiS set. That being said, that domain's value is ass anyway, for a situationally best set.

Way back in the vagabond event with the three kenkis, my melt ganyu was my best team then and I always had a better clear with using her burst. I guessed the quadratic scaling of the ult was just better damage, and always used it in abyss especially for mobs that clump up (e.g. vishaps, serpent knights). Huge thanks for clarifying and sharing all that to others!!

What about Lyney in Chevreuse teams? Since her healing happens in smaller increments and just one charge attack seems to be enough to get all 3 stacks of MH pretty reliably, even if you swap to refresh your Fischl or Beidou in-between Lyney's short field time windows.

I just want to say that you lose HP instantly when the arrow is released and there is time lag until the arrow hit. MH passive will activate and give effect on the first charged attack shot by Lyney. There are actually a few weapons that use this mechanic, requiring the travel time of the arrow to be below or above certain time for an effect to activate. There is similar thing happening to elemental bursts and item effects as well, like most characters will be buffed by Nobless with their own burst as the set works on cast, not on hit. It applies even for abilities that snapshots.

Wriothesley has similar problems as Lynney in non furina teams. I was running him with shenhe and getting all of shenhes quills to crit for rizz was a nightmare. By the time you get the 36 crit rate buff, shenhe only has 3 or 4 quills of bonus dmg which is lame as hell. I switched to full 4pc shim and it felt much better overall. I kind of want to whale for c6 shnehe just for rizz and ayaka, which kinda shows how poor cryo feels atm.

This video inspired dust off my ol' reliable ShotGanyu after Rational, Double Tao (Geo/Cryo/Pyro), and Bloombara comps have been running my Abyss comps. Makes me grateful that I pulled First Magic for her. Also really want to master my Freeze comp of Ganyu, Ayaka, Venti/Kaz, and Kokomi/Furina.

Interesting video, I fully agree for Childe and Ganyu even though some things are not always the case, like for exemple, Ganyu's burst, as good as it is, is often not free since if you're playing Hamayumi, you're losing part of the passive and while you might run other weapons instead, like fading twilight, protype crescent or a 5 star, if you are running Hamayumi, it's not "free", still worth it for sure though, unless you are playing a team that doesn't apply enough pyro. But on Lyney, it depends on the investment and the chamber because in your exemple, it's basically "why would I do 3 charge shots when I can just nearly one-shot them with my burst" but if you need the dmg of a full rotation on a wave or a boss, maréchaussée can be up to 20% better than 2p2p, especially if you start at low hp so I do think it depends a lot. However, I can't be 100% sure because I skipped Lyney and I will pull for him in 4. .....hhhmmmmmmmm when his first rerun comes ! (I definitely don't know when that is) Edit : I don't think anyone even plays shiminawa's Ganyu anymore anyways, because : 1. I haven't heard of that in long time 2. The in-game feature that tells which sets active players go for doesn't mention it, which means it is under 1.5% because a 2p2p set has 1.5 % while wanderer's troupe is above 75%

Super helpful video! I already have Hunter’s Path (unfortunately went to pity 3 times to get it when it came out), and the thing I find most irritating is over capping CR. How much of an upgrade is Aqua on a Ganyu melt team? Or FGM for that matter?

This is a great video, and would love to see more like this. I.e. misconceptions that TCs and CCs have. Cyno is a good example of a character who had a lot of early advice wrong (eg GD vs TF).

I think that any instance where there are potential issues with activation and timing of the set would be great to go over. IE: I know that Gilded Dreams won't have actual 100% uptime, but am not sure when/if it is relevant. This is my favorite kind of content. It's knowledge that goes beyond what I can read on my own in the game, so your expertise really shows and helps.

This is so brilliant, especially as I don't love doing rotations that are so precise you can't deviate from them without losing a lot of dmg - mainly because I get random controller lag (connected to mobile) and might explain why it feels I do more dmg on 2piece/2piece sets sometimes lol

I think Lyney's Pyrotechnic Strike snapshots upon creation and not when the CA is released, so it should make use of the 12% CR right? The second CA would have at least 24% CR and 36% if Bennett heals Lyney before the hat is created in case Lyney was full HP

This style of video is incredibly useful. I was actually a victim of the Melt Ganyu Doesn’t Use Burst guides, though thankfully I never sunk that many resources into her since I ended up not liking the aimed shot playstyle that much and I don’t have a good weapon for her anyway. I probably also would’ve fell hook line and sinker for MH Lyney if I had rolled him. I don’t really keep up with DPS that I don’t play that well so I’m really curious about the other examples you have too.

as a Lyney main who knew about that he snapshot I stilled farmed marachause and just adjusted the rotation and I still get all crit rate for burst and could optimise everything even more but Its normal for people to not know

I'm just wondering about what makes the first great magic best for ganyu. Doesnt she only get a small charged attack bonus and a ton of movement speed in melt teams? Is the crit damage what makes it so good for her? I thought the only situation to use that would be in a cryo team. Sorry if I'm mistaken, I'm definitely not an expert

I've mained Ganyu for three years and I have her at constellation 6. I also talk frequently with "Theorycrafting experts" for Ganyu. One issue with Ganyu's burst is that it can take away melted charged shots which you mentioned. You also mentioned that speedrunners use her burst, which is true, but most speedrunners also have C6. And when you have C6, you don't need to use the regular team with Xiangling. You can go with other teams with stronger pyro application, like Jean+Bennett, Nahida+Kazuha, or just super skill through it with solely Kazuha. We were talking about this video and apparently bursting is ok if the enemy is big enough since it can be hit by pryonado twice at once which is cool. In terms of Kazuha, he alone is not enough pyro application (unless you super skill with C6 whale team.) In the background footage, you have a team with Xiangling and Kazuha together. He also can swirl cryo pretty easily if you just switch around your rotation. Shimenawa not being great is correct. The buff it provides is a minimal increase over Wanderer's, except Shime's buff doesn't last long enough, whereas Wanderer's is always active. Also Wanderer's has a better 2 pc effect. Hunter's Path is technically the best for melt, but ping is an issue due to the passive effect of the weapon, and it only works for met teams. But if you get something like Great Magic instead, it performs nearly just as well, but Great Magic can be used in any Ganyu team. So overall, Great Magic is a better weapon due to its flexibility. I'm not sure why I typed this much, I think I just really love Ganyu and wanted to provide some extra info. Overall it was a really great video and I like how detailed you are and also your voiceover is really nice too :)

thanks for clearing that stuff up about lyney! i was debating whether i should continue farming MH. i haven't gotten good pieces yet but i've managed to get decent GT ones for my furina. i'll probably stop and farm another domain now since i always use lyney in monopyro anyway. more lyney vids would be greatly appreciated. i watched the speedrun video you did before and it was eye-opening to see him played that way cos i always just stuck to doing his usual combo. a rotation guide with different teams would be nice. i'd like to see teams where xiangling isn't used since i've been playing international for a long time now and i'm kind of sick of using her at this point 😭

The Lyney advice was spot on, so often on Lyney the bulk of your damage is very frontloaded so realizing that the crit rate doesn’t apply to so many of the first few hits is scary. I think a lot of TCers must assume repeat rotations for 100% MH uptime then?

That was a very interesting video. In my case I farmed Childe's "new set" and got great pieces. But I also realized that I'm not good with pre stacking and following rotations to the T. So I sadly kinda stopped to play him... And I'm at a point where I'd even rather play Wrio in a similar team which imo is kinda comfier. Even if he has his issues too. No regrets tho, I often don't really know what to do with my resine anyway. Regarding Lyney, that's news for me, and it saddens me a bit. As for Ganyu, I barely play her these days. I kinda wanna try burn/melt but I already feel Nahida would have better results in another team. Still, I'd be glad if there's a team out there making use of Dehya or burning as a reaction. I was wondering for Ganyu's weapon options, all calcs compare weapons at r1. Amos Bow is obviously not BiS at r1 but since it's on the standard banner, I for one have it at r3 now. At what refinement does Amos overtake the other options?

Could the same thing be said for keqing? I heard a lot of experienced kq mains still play her mixed/gilded cause the damage is more generally and they work around stamina while TF is more tps and easy to use but more damage only for specific combos where she detonates the second skill

A part 2 would be awesome, I have questions about some DPSs equipments. Does Klee prefer to use her burst in burgeon team and how much is the difference between Gilded Dreams and CW if she is using Sac? Is so much the difference between Hunter and Desert Pavilion for Wanderer in Furina team? Does it has sense to use the Whispers set on Navia even her cristalize wouln't last for so long before be broken by a enemy attack? You content is amazing!

Id love a part 2, im under the impression that gladiator is probably more efficient for ayato for similar reasons to ganyu. But I'm also curious if -shime is better for wanderer -crimson/hunter is better for yoi -gilded dreams vs thundering fury for cyno -gilded dreams vs golden troupe for yae

I think the most overlooked problem with sets is resin efficiency which leads to worse overall damage on new 4 sets. If you use the same amount of resin on the Chasm domain and strongbox for Gladiator, you're getting 2.5 times as many 18% ATK set pieces than how many MH pieces you'd get from the same resin (half the drops will be GT and you can't strongbox it). 2.5 times as many artifacts will translate to 1-3 more good substat roll per piece, or 10-30% more damage, the lower your investment, the higher the difference. If the new set isn't at least 15-20% better then the better substats lead to higher overall damage on the 2pc ATK% sets. This is especially a major factor when your other characters cannot use the other set in the domain or you cannot use the strongbox for them because their builds are complete so the bad artifacts just sit in your inventory until a new character is pulled who can use an old set, or strongbox options get expanded.

As soon as That Artifact Domain came out I was always confused why Marechausee was hyped up so much. I know it gives lots of crit rate but I always thought of it as... your farming for good crit stats on a set that gives you a bunch of crit. lol, It's a Cool set but I felt like the other Bonuses were more interesting at least. I was half expecting some whack stuff like Tenacity Raiden tbh, but I guess this is fine too. I don't own Lyney or Childe, so I've never really considered which would be the best sets on them. For Ganyu, I don't really use her anywhere except overworld, so I prefer running Wanderer's anyway, since it's a bit more consistent (though I guess in overworld you're not gonna use her burst anyway, so Shim might be fine too)

I’m a bit skeptical on the Ganyu section. You do have a point in specific scenarios but against straight bosses with no mechanic that can help you / mess with you, I don’t see how using her Burst would be helpful. Most people don’t use her with Kazuha nor in AOE scenarios. Your showcases were mostly in AOE, and vs the shroom who could burn itself. In those situations, of course I understand that using her burst is an upside! All in all, I just think that that part was another “black and white” side of the coin instead of being presented as a gray area.

I’m pretty curious to know what you think about 4 mh on Klee since I believe her burst and skill snapshot? Since they are pretty early in Klee’s rotation I wouldn’t assume it would be great even in a Kleerina team

I second the Childe thing. Mine had little atk and his damage was a bit low, but I was hell bent on trying to make 4 pc HOD to work. Now I use a 2pc 2pc and he's much better, even when he dies crit

I always hear that on melt Ganyu - don’t use burst. I have Hunters though, but I keep it on Tigi and Amos on Ganyu. Is it worth a try on her over Amos though, as my Aqua stays on my Yelan :)

Her ER reqs are actually a lot lower than I expected. I just Burst every other rotation on the Zhongli variant but I might look out for WT pieces with ER subs now.

I’ll still use MH on Lyney, I made my MH CR a bit overcap so the only one that might not crit is the first atk, after that i mostly hv no problem as long as there are furina, bennet or chevreuse on team Right now, im sitting at 69 CR and 286 CMG, its at the point that switching to mix set doesnt give of the same dmg anymore~ I hv c2 on him, so when i switch to Lyney… i tried to wait a bit so his c2 can charge up b4 doing his burst anyway so it isnt really a problem

if i am overcapping on crit rate on lyney in furina team (about 110) will 2pc 2pc be better

Mythbusting all three Bennett-Kazuha-compatible archers with high skill ceiling, this is very good stuff 👏. Hope you'll revisit Nilou's new options, if any, some time after Furina and/or Sigewinne. Anyway discussing Lyney's sets is so 💀💀. Compare Neuv and Wrio's consistent 90% MH use rate to Lyney's 60% in-game and 30% user submitted abyss stats. No consensus for one set among actual players. Because his HP flux, damage profile, and playstyle changes too much between teams? E.g. mono pyro vs. Furina/Chiori, Kazuha vs. Chevreuse, shielded or not, etc. Speedrunners love 3 pyro Kaz teams with Bennett & Xiangling/c2 Klee. He clears waves like Childe with Kaz -> Lyney burst + 0-2 CA -> Kaz -> Lyney 1-2 CA + skill. Then killing bosses with 2-3 CAs + skill becomes possible with high cons. So mixed sets are best since 60% crit rate for burst is too low, and too few CAs for MH. Majority play him with shields, without good artifacts or cons, or lack essential teammates. They'd miss the damage thresholds to do clean consistent wave clears or force enemies to behave predictably enough for shieldless play. From lurking various boards and newbie showcases, seems the 'long combo' is actually how most play Lyney. So +1 for the MH set recommendation that TCs/CCs recommend with that combo. The general Lyney community would push back very hard against the mix set advice. With the current TC/CC ecosystem that skews towards skill accessibility and efficiency at minimal invest, this might come across like an experienced vapelan player from early 3.x telling people to stop farming the 'resin efficient' emblem domain since her mix sets work better at that investment. They'd get blasted for spreading "misinformation", however valid when taken into proper context.

I always thought that MH was bit of an overrated set. Yes, Crit Rate is important. But that doesn't mean you should neglect everything else a DPS character should need. I think it's very overrated on Noelle, honestly. It helps with more niche builds like Fav Sword + MH since she does NOT generate ANY energy particles. But you're really better off with Husk since she gets the things she needs the most for her damage, Geo DMG Bonus and DEF. Hell, she shields, heals, and does damage. Husk gives you the best of the three worlds with that.

Make part 2 cover units like Hu tao and others

As someone who's looking forward to get Ganyu on a future rerun, I'd be interested in a fully-fledge guide from you on how to play her melt teams (and potentially freeze too). It truly is the first time I've heard about using her burst in melt (although I did know about wanderer's troupe being better for her, somehow). Also as a sidenote, I just wanted to point out how funny this video's title is considering you're a madlad who farmed a 4p FloP for Nilou of all characters XD (which is based, don't get me wrong, especially since this set suits her so well from an aesthetic standpoint, but for the easiest character to build in this game it is quite hilarious in the context of this video)

Does Instructor set really boost Kazuha’s buff? I was under the impression outside buffs like instructor or Nahida could not be calculated in his elemental buff, and only boosted his swirl damage
