The way I see it from the outside in is you pick some genes and you stay in those genes. You make them cool by breeding them and by making content about it,guys who are way in one project or gene/combo take that one gene further and further and they make it cool and valuable. Then there’s kinova and other big boys who are always trying to bring something new to the table which is exciting too. But I’d say most these snakes are cool because I keep seeing that gene on someone’s channel.

Great video as always, definitely some good points here. I definitely feel like I’m inching forward but I’m mostly focusing on producing/purchasing nice holdback females right now to hopefully pick up a powerhouse male in a couple years to breed to them.

@@LeviathanSnakes yeah I wanted to hopefully make a super scaleless but I'll probably won't try as hard now! The scaleless heads alone are still pretty! And no problem I love watching yall

One of the best things about SH, as well as microscale, is that it brightens and cleans up color and patterns. Dave Pulumbo has made a few videos on the topic. I have a few SH/MS in my collection. Im keeping them with the sole intention of using for that reason.

My friend and I have done a lot what many first timers have so there are 15 BP that don’t really fit into a specific project. One 2 morph visual clown, 3 double morph het clowns, one enchi pied and one 3 morph het pied, 4 have Mojave in them so and two have butter lesser and a banana boy. So BELs, Bananas, het clown combos, het pieds, and 50 percent full recessive clown and pied is what’s in store for this year. I do have one pastave scaleless head that I’m planned to pair a pastave 100 percent het clown/het albino to get some scaleless head BELs, i didn’t know scaleless head was a dead end project though
@LeviathanSnakes
@LeviathanSnakes 8 месяцев назад
I think pretty much everyone ends up getting a little snake drunk at first (we certainly did) and your animals sounds way better than what we did when we first got in! The scaleless project is a touchy subject because people still work it, but since the females don’t lay eggs, it tanked the project and I am pretty sure Scaleless Heads went from like $30k to $3k in a year when the info became public. Overall, I think new breeders get sold on the scaleless project before they know all the info about it. Scaleless head females are perfectly healthy and are no different than any other female, but fully scaleless females are when they don’t lay eggs. Thank you for watching and for your comment btw!

That is amazing and huge congrats!!! We are big fan of poss hets ever since genetic testing and while it isn’t nearly as awesome as proving a poss het out through breeding, we love that we can jumpstart so many projects by working with poss hets!

Let me translate~~Buy my uber expensive morphs to breed, but don't sell affordable snakes intended to be pets for the consumer. The ponzie scheme is starting to fall apart, HELP!
@LeviathanSnakes
@LeviathanSnakes 8 месяцев назад
I think your take is missing quite a bit of nuance. Pet keepers want beautiful animals for inexpensive prices so they can enjoy the animal as a companion, breeders want to make new combinations of genes that are beautiful and rare and sometimes the only ones that exist. While pet keeping and breeding have a shared love of the animals, they are completely different hobbies and a pet keeper isn’t going to spend $30k on an animal while that price might make sense for a breeder (if it is the only one and it looks amazing). I think a similar analogy is a camera. Someone who isn’t a filmmaker will be perfectly happy using their phone’s camera to record whatever comes up in their life, where Hollywood studios will spend over $100,000 just on a set of lenses. Eventually those $100,000 lens become obsolete and are worth far less but that doesn’t mean it was a Ponzi scheme to buy the lenses when they were the most cutting edge thing to help the filmmaker create movies at the time they were released. The exact same principle applies to the breeding aspect of snakes. In the same way no filmmaker is going to advise someone to try to shoot a professional movie on a phone and expect to get it on Netflix, most breeders advise newcomers away from breeding the really inexpensive pet animals as it floods the market with more snakes that are difficult to move given the vast availability of the same exact animals that haven’t sold already.
@walkingwolf8072
@walkingwolf8072 8 месяцев назад
@@LeviathanSnakes Filmmakers are not trying to lure people into a ponzie scheme. Completely different, in a scheme the newbie breeder sooner or later gets screwed, it is just a matter of time. High end breeders make their money off the complete failure of the low end newbies. People have gone to prison for it in the finacial sector, while calling it legitimate may make it past District Attorneys, the result is the same. People's lives destroyed by the greed of other people. When the bottom does fall out there will be a lot of snakes euthanized for greed.

is it possible people work dinkers or "dead ends" because they want to... for fun? because they like them? or they have a personal creative incite others may not? is it ok to have fun with your animals still?
@LeviathanSnakes
@LeviathanSnakes 8 месяцев назад
100% We have two different dinker projects we are working on for fun and I think most people breed because it is fun overall. I don’t think keeping an eye on the business side of things means someone can’t have fun breeding, but if breeders are not careful, it is really easy to turn the fun part of the hobby into a grind when someone produces a bunch of animals that are hard to sell and they are stuck paying to feed all of them and spending a disproportionate amount of time caring for them. IMO dinker projects (even though we are working 2 of them) and dead-end projects tend to produce a decent amount of animals that are difficult to sell.
@RickyGIII
@RickyGIII 8 месяцев назад
I'll say they "want to" because the opportunity of finding a new gene is dollar signs if they're successful. Nobody works a project for "fun" if there's no upside to it and when it's your time money and energy on the line as well. So again I'll say no lol and if they claim that, it's just to save face on the mistake they more than likely know they made.

Thank you for the valuable information you've provided! Despite the wealth of knowledge, I'm finding it a bit challenging to apply it to my relatively small collection, consisting of four females I acquired almost a year ago. I'm seeking advice on the direction I should take with my first breeding project. I have a keen interest in Enchi clown combinations. Currently, I own the following females: Pastel 100% het Clown and 100% het Pie Vanilla 66% het Clown Mojave 100% het DG Hypo Black Head GHI Pinstripe I'm contemplating an investment in a promising male, and I'm curious about your recommendations considering my existing collection. Specifically, I'd like to know your thoughts on potential male pairings that align with my interest in Enchi clown genetics. Your expertise or anyone for that matter will be greatly appreciated!
