Today @Vintendo and I take on 6 challenges to win Weak or Strong Pokemon of the same type, then we battle with that team to decide the winner! GAMER SUPPS CODE "Patterrz" gamersupps.gg/... #patterrz #pokemon
Everything in its normal spawn, except the Dondozo at 8:40. Not sure about daytime, but I know a pair of Sableye spawn there at night. Its the only random one I spotted.
This video has so many scuffed moments and I love it. Vinny not knowing how many types there are. Normal, Rock, and Ice not being on the list. Vinny’s game not being randomized despite them specifically mentioning that the games are randomized for like the first time ever. And the worst crime of all, Vinny running a LIFE ORB on a gorilla tactics mon.
@@TheNinjaButters Yeah, at first I didn't realize it was early excess for members, not exclusive member content. I think @MochiPanda29 also thought that it w member exclussive content when this comment was posted
To be fair, the legendary/mythical challenge was rigged towards patterz's side due to that. And the color one too, as Vinny searched for water Pokémon in a mountain
That's the only outlier all the other mons were in there normal spawn location best guess is he put it in let's go mode after he caught it@@luigimanzelli3786
@@TobiasKryzethe dreepy spawns there naturally I believe. And the Dondozo is definitely out of place but at the same time 1) this is scarlet and violet and 2) considering that is genuinely the ONLY out of place pokemon on his side is telling there was an issue
And he could've won because of that too. If he was choice band instead of life orb, he doesn't take the recoil, has a 50% boost instead of a 30% boost, and at the very end, Iron Treads naturally outspeeds the rest of pat's team so his only winning line is to protect on slither wing and hope for a speed increase
He probably got the moveset from Smogon as well and didn't consider the ability with the moveset as well. I see Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin on that moveset as well, which really doesn't work with Gorilla Tactics.
@@TheAngryBare I've seen you comment this exact comment 3x now. I have to admit I don't even understand it, and it's just odd to see copy/pasted comments around. Are you saying pursuit is bad/situational and would never be something you'd want to be locked into? Seems worst/case that limits you to 3 moves instead of 4. That doesn't seem as bad as steady damage + a weaker upside vs a stronger upside with downside. Admittedly, I am fairly ignorant about modern pokemon.
@@waterierStone Yeah, that one confused me. I was a pokenerd in gen one. I recognize, however, that I am clueless when it comes to modern pokemon. Even I was bewildered by that.
I'm confused why Vinny went for life orb with gorilla tactics when he could have easily just put a choice band or choice scarf on it since he's locked into his move anyways
Vinny plays pokemon like my friend that started playing last mons, i stopped asking myself questions about his plays, he has zero idea on how this game works even after playing it for 15 years somehow 🤣
That was my first thought. I'm certainly not up on current competitive pokemon, but it seems like, if you are limited to one move anyway, an item like that is pure upside.
They'd likely be the ones chosen the least, anyway, due to the widespread access to SE moves on those types (a lot of things get Fighting/Ground/Water/Fire/Steel/Grass, even if they're not of that type...look at things like Trailblaze and Drain Punch, for example). Also, it'd be rather hard to decide on which would be the prize and what the punishment would be for those types...
Not only did Vinny use Life Orb instead of a Choice item with Gorilla Tactics, but the Iron Treads also had Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin, which doesn't really work with that ability. He also has Pursuit on Skuntank, but the move is not usable in the game at all, and it lost Defog. That's what happens when you use movesets on Smogon without considering the randomized abilities or legality of moves.
Vinny not going Choice Band on his gorilla tactics mon for life orb instead confuzzles me. Also not bringing Revival Blessing on Rabsca hurt me on a personal level.
@@itsgonnabeanaurfromme It would be like getting Sheer Force and using expert belt instead of life orb, insanely bad strat. Gorilla Tactics lock you into 1 move already, why would you NOT put a choice item on?
Vinny:What’s the Legendary catch rate I haven’t seen any? Jeez Vinny I wonder why?! I’m so shocked by Vinny considering he plays Pokémon all the time how did he not notice?! 😂
@@Donnchadh25 yup, in its pokedex description it says its surprisingly light: "The metal composing its body is incredibly durable but also surprisingly light. It only weighs about 88 lbs. in total. Thanks to this, Duraludon can move quite quickly in spite of its appearance. Its body is weak to corrosion, however, and is known to rust easily."
I love the idea of the challenge however it would be so much better if the pokemon rewards weren't pre selected and the winner can pick any fire mon in the game for example but only have a 1 legend limit for all the rounds and the winner also decides the losers mon
@@Kauan176ProBr i have no idea, i think its stupid. americans only use it because theyre taught it early anyway. i think you misunderstood my joke though
Pretty sure Patterrz coulda swept there witj Slither Wing, +2 Speed and +4 Attack? Shoulda also went Leech Life on Hypno instead of Flare Blitz, the type advantage and STAB would more than make up for the additional power.
First challenge: Vinny: "Espathra is Flying/Psychic!" Also Vinny: "I was just about to catch my third mon!" *Is aiming for a slowpoke which is water/psychic* This guy's a Pokémon RU-vidr? Doubt. Kidding, love ya Vinny. xP
@@adamsullivan2125 I agree. I'm just a gen one player myself. (For some reason, I dislike the term you used. Perhaps it's because it seems to group up people I relate to and seems frequently used in a derogatory manner). I started playing gen 1, was a pokenut. In gen 2, I was still going strong. Started tapering off my interest in gen 3 (and was already finding some of the new designs to be lacking in originality) and by gen 4 I was out. I got pulled back in a bit when my brothers bought me sun. I liked it, but I am unsure I finished it. I follow the scene a bit now. As a gen 1 freak, I was still quite interested in Dark types. Steel was cool, somewhat, but they didn't do much with it early. I thought fairy was silly when I heard it coming out. I'm ok with it now, I suppose.
With Gorrilla Tactics Vinnie was locked in anyway, so there is 0 reason not to go for a choice item over life orb there. He wouldn’t have died with band and probably would have won witb scarf. RIP
Fun vid. You should do one where you generate a random box, and then have to take turns picking mons for a team from the same box. Maybe use legendaries so there are plenty of good mons to pick from. Then do the same with abilities, generate a single random list and then take turns picking an ability from the list for your team.
I think challenge idea is great, but it would be better to just have one picking types over the other, where the one picking gets strong pokemon of that type, and other gets weak. Essentially it gets you a space for mindgames, as well as the fact that both participants end up with 3 strong and 3 weak pokemon each
28:41 yeah how on gods earth did that kill? I play slither wing, it's not THAT strong, especially without proto attack, and Skuntank's pretty bulky too! Edit: LEECH LIFE IS BASE 80? I thought it was like 50 or 60, nvmd, that makes sense now!
Had an idea for one of these: you do the set up where you have a time limit to catch a pokemon from each generation and then choose 6 to use. Then both of you get to choose a generation to swap with the other player before learning what pokemon the other has. (Could also throw in a curve ball where *after* teams are built you randomly choose a pokemon or two to swap)
Bruh the fact I watch these to go to sleep so now I have hyper realistic dreams with Luke pat vinny Dylan and the others cause I hear them talking when I go to sleep LOL
I think this exact idea with a wheel deciding what challenge type to attempt would be better. Once the challenge is done or failed it has to be removed
To save Vinny from GOT spoilers, here are some spellings for him (if he's interested): Brienne, Tyrion, and Jon. Can't go wrong with the Game of Thrones theme!
Suggestion for a future challenge: Closest to the average height/weight for their type. Average the two if it's a dual-type. (You'd need to figure out those averages in advance, but still.)
Vinny living up to his Original151 handle by saying there’s 15 types, the number of types that existed in Gen 1. Also this was a fun idea. I’d love to see more takes on it in the future.
great video idea! i would love to see what you guys could come up with if you did a battle with only pokémon under 600 or 500 BST, it would probably lead to some really creative sets
As an Englishman I can’t tell if that song Vinny whipped out in the middle is real or just something he made up it was so good 😂 also I really enjoy the twist of your catching stuff to win the Pokémon to fight with instead of what you catch
