Babies are weaned at about 8 to 12 weeks. They have a full mouth of teeth by then. They will do just fine. Some of the babies are lazy and don't want feed themselves. Their Mommas will always love them.
I am laughing so hard that the tears are flowing. At 8:20 the word "pitiful" comes to mind, but in a funny way. It's funny because with our dog we call that look "doing pitiful". For example: ME to my son- "Oh no, Josta's (the dog's name) feelings are hurt, she's doing pitiful just because you told her to "go lay down". LOL I am sure all youngsters, no matter the species, are quite adept at doing pitiful. Human children are VERY good at pitiful, too. Right?

The leaf sticking out of Baty’s ear says it all. ( Though it was cute as hell ) Reddy would have had that cleaned out of Dopey’s shiny clean ear in no time flat. Poor Baty.
I think Reddy is doing two things, 1st trying to get Dopey to ride on her back more often which will effectively 2nd get him off her teat as much! Reddy is not trying to wean Dopey in the same way that Bossy and Dolly are doing with their babies.
Ive noticed that the higher the class rank of a mom, the more violent they wean, because no one is gonna dare attack them or the babies, but if a lower rank mom does that and makes the baby cry too much the higher ones will attack the mom AND the baby, just for being annoying
I would have named it "Lazy". For some reason it thought it should be treated like a king in infanthood. It thought it was something special and important.
I notice that the mom's that wean their baby very early happen to have babies that are very aware of what's around them, like to be out and about with peers and is easily distracted from nursing. That would mean the nursing was not constant until the breast is empty and on many occasions the baby either drops the teat or holds ity but does not suckle while involved in tracking other dramas going on. I am sure that nursing a baby more interested it what is going on than nursing means that less hormones are produced and then milk making production drops off so baby may still be hungry when a breast is empty and has to turn to solids which they are doing well with by the time other babies are tortured with their own weaning. These babies either no longer care about milk anymore as the big outside world is too interesting and the baby wants to go play and the baby might no even get enough milk if this has been going for a few days to a week and has to go eat solids to feel full. Foraging and eating foods with friends it a lot of fun, while nursing hold you in one place. The ones that seem to be hit hardest at weaning time are the babies that were very serious about nurse right up until mom makes the decision that the baby is old enough to be weaned . This babies are the one you see with their faace buriued in moms chest while they suckle and the are very active in the nursing and empty the breast quickly and completely - this send mom's body the message that she is still feeding a very hungry baby and needs more milk produced. These guys save the looking around and seeing what is happening until after nursing thyme. The moms do have a slow down routine it seems where they make it harder and harder to catch her and no matter how hard they bed, not to touch it until she says okay - this is even pretty bad to baby who was used milk on demand and plenty of it. And then comes the complete weaning where they are not even allowed to start at moms teat let alone touch it or put it in their mouth (early weaning moms sometimes just let the teat rest in a baby's mouth if that keeps him happy as long as he does not suckle). Locking up the milk brings with a great many tantrums and drama that you don't see with the babies that were so interested in being free and exploring all she sees and sorta of has this "Milk, who cares, come see what I found" mentality
There might be some found objects that could stand in for a tripod such as the top of a fense post or rail or if you can sit up high like on a big rock or a hillside level spot you can sit with your knees drawn up close so you can rest the camera and your hands on them.
Do you think the earlier weaning is Nature's way of adjusting to the birth control practices? I'm of the unfortunate opinion that the earlier weaning will cause more baby deaths this upcoming Winter because of starvation. I'm afraid Dopey will not make it through this Winter. Is Nellie too old to bear children or was she fixed? @ 14:42, was that Baty's older brother & who was the other monkey? LOL @ 6:30 w/a leaf sticking out of Baty's left ear. @ 18:02, is it too late in the year to give birth & have the newborn survive the Winter? God Bless these sweet, precious miracles called babies & infants. Lord, look over & protect these innocent Angels & their Mom's.
How is Batty supposed to wean totally when Dolly doesn't want to sharer the corn cobb, BAtty has to pry it out of her hands, and then twice Dolly tries to take it back. Unfortunately Batty loose it in the end to another monkey. Probably his brother. You can see a monkey hand come in and take it right out of Battys hands!
Poor Baty. I feel so bad for him. Doesnt seem to know what to eat. He bites a piece then spits it out. Don't they feed them occasionally at this place? Great video. Dopey is going to get it while he can & I don't blame him. He's only about a month old, isn't he? Baty is probably looking for something to eat. Doesn't seem as though Mum taught him what to eat, or to forage.
Weird that these moms are weaning so early. Maybe it's because they are going hungry and cannot keep up their milk? Infants are rarely weaned this young!
It's actually very common for monkey moms to start weaning a little early.....it's not full weaning, it's just a little start to help them get ready for the real thing.......if you notice the babies still end up nursing a lot, and they typically end up getting to nurse anyway as it is very common the moms start a few mild lessons at around 2 - 3 months.....I have even seen them start when they are even younger, usually just a little lesson to let the babies know they can nurse ALL the time......a lot of the nursing they do when they get a little earlier is actually just used as a pacifier and not in fact true nursing......the mom starts to realize this and knows she's going to have a long road ahead therefore it's important to give a few early lessons.....it really is just that.....trying to get the babies a little more prepared for the real weaning.........
We need to understand that the nursing process is like being a drug addiction. The milk is a taste babies get no we’re else. They don’t understand nothing about nursing except they love it. It is what keep them alive as a new born. They felt safe with mom nursing. They were warm. The contentment they couldn’t get no where else. Love is a by product of nursing. A bond grows between baby and mom. The baby feels like their trust in mom is destroyed. All the things they felt towards mom has broken their heart. They have no idea how to fix it. So they become frustrated and angry. It’s their way of saying HELP. Because they feel mom don’t love them any more or feel important to mom any more. This is why I feel humans and monkeys wean to early. It should be a slower process because of mental stability. Most of all that milk is some good shit. Lol
Some of them I just don't see how they are getting any milk it looks as thought some of the moms don't have any milk to give I truly like these videos better then the others HK videos the ppl are so much better then the video ppl in Cambodia they don't bother the monkeys and try and control them
I saw you mention the baby snatcher. Something I don't understand is why the moms don't fight for the baby back, instead of patiently following & waiting?
Kidnapper is very rare with rhesus. I suspect the reason you are seeing them in my videos is because of our meddling - 70% of the female population have been sterilized and some might have been too eager with "aunting" that they do seem like to kidnap.

Most of these mother monkeys are too weak. They need to bite the shit out of these baby monkeys their to aggressive and need to be taught a lesson. They need to be taught how to get their own food on their own. Needs tough love mother monkeys
