I'm Professor Jamie Triccas, working here at the Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute.
Infectious diseases continue to have a devastating impact globally.
Ancient diseases such as tuberculosis have not been adequately controlled by existing vaccines and antibiotics.
New diseases such as COVID 19 have rapidly evolved, outpacing the development of vaccines and drugs.
My group aims to find better ways to combat these old and new diseases
with a particular emphasis on developing and testing novel vaccines.
We are also constructing prototype vaccines that could be swiftly deployed against pandemic pathogens that may emerge in the future.
Our overall mission is to advance the field of vaccine science, strengthen protection against emerging and re-emerging diseases, and ultimately save lives.
