I think there should be both North and South Vietnamese voices. North Vietnamese voice in the video sounds quite harsh than of North Viet common people. I don't know why... 😒

Nah we're not. Most of our borrowed words are from pali, sanskrit, and english. The grammar might seems similar but the vocab are far from each other except Thai numbers and south Chinese numbers.

Thai language is more close to Laotian. Which is notChinese major society.but itcould be Chinese minority if the information reallynot base on source. potentially are right answer.
Of course we have different intonations and different phonemes. But both languages have in common with having quite a lot of open syllables in a word and perhaps the usage of glottis or throat too. Even when Japanese people speak English, it sounds choppy(I feel the same way listening to Hungarian which is Finno-Ugric language).
