I hope in life, all of us, from the op, to the people in the reply section of this comment, will be able to grab the whole pie, pie, grab the whole pie and achieve our dreams, I wish you all goodluck in achieving your dreams
Laura I completely agree with you you seem like a great person but when it comes to the corrupt judicial system there's no more talking nice to them anymore or the police, I apologize for the way I feel but once you say anything against the corrupt government they start Illegal retaliatory measures because they know they can't be touched unless you have a lot of money then you can get out of everything
Ô, its happening... Believe me. Few mor years of whats going on?? Shit maybe few more months...... People are getting tired of a select few making a living.. Its like were re-living the 18th century all over. Never going to get off this planet
He was personal, kind, honest and said his piece with great clarity and composure. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors, and hope he finds full time with a station that appreciates him more than they do here. That first step is the hardest. And, like I ways tell my fellow coworkers never burn your bridges behind you. GOOD LUCK GOOD LUCK GOOD LUCK ! ! !
This man did the right thing by recognising that you cannot circumvent the nepotism and favoritism in organisations. His decency and his own self respect saved him.
Absolutely. I have a friend with 30 years in Social Services from entry to management positions. She recently resigned a job she had been at for 3 years. A job she kept the agency afloat with. Upper MGMT passed over her and hired a new manager. Disgusting.
@@soundjudgement3586 There is a very malignant and pathological problem that infests most upper management. I don't know if its the training courses that they all attend or simply being brought up around the same mentality or a mixture of both, however it is strange how there is so much of it around and it should be examined closely as it is a model that generally creates failure in the same way the children of the wealthy destroy all the hard work of the hard workers before them.
A guy I work with recently got screwed over by upper managment. They hired another guy from outside the organization for the job my coworker was promised. Sucks.
The job I'm at did a lot of it's senior staff dirty and fired everyone who worked with them when they were just starting out, as if they never knew them. This was a while ago and now it's come back to bite them. Everyone is jumping ship and the business is doing awful. It's weird how they think their employees will just keep quiet about it as well. Now everyone even our competitors know our morale is going down
Poor guy, he's basically saying "they didn't think I was good enough" but he's not gonna take it. I hope he was successful later on in life, he sounds like a lovely person
This weatherman just said what I've been thinking at my job for the past 3 years! Loyalty, hustle, dedication, respect and showing up to work on time everyday used to mean something in the workplace!
You have to evaluate whether there’s room for you to grow. Don’t let people screw you over. I’m right there with you weighing my options… but it’s so tough to leave…
Loyalty hustle dedication respect...Did you get that from a rap song? Maybe if this guy had a real skill of value, he wouldn't be struggling to make it, & crying about it on TV (an abuse of his position in itself). Can this country get any more wimpy??
This guy spoke well and made his feelings courteously clear, he is an example to us all when we find ourselves compromised. I wish I could maintain that kind of composure.
I feel for this guy. I worked as a sub for 15 years(night janitor for schools). For 15 years I showed up everytime they asked me to show up. Done a good job. No complaints. Watched person after person for years get the full time job over me. When the full time janitor job I really wanted for the schools popped up, I was finally the most qualified person out of all the interviewers. I was in my 15th year and no one had that amount of experience over me. Went balls to the wall to get it too. In the end, the principle gave the job to her friend, who had never once done any janitorial work at all. I quit the job immediately after finding that out. Didnt know what I was going to do. Now I co own a lawn care company and will completely own it in a year.
I know how you feel , one of the greatest feelings in the world. I remained a novice mechanic for 5 years, while new mechanics quickly passed me in experience. Everyone harassed me for being so inexperienced at my age, but it was just because I wanted to go back to cooking. Little did they know I was attending a culinary nightschool. Even my higher ups told me I'd never be anything more than a parts swapper. Now I am the executive chef at a regional fine dining restaurant, making more than the highest paid techs there combined. I love bringing my ZL1 there for services just to rub it in their faces that they were wrong.
To OP. Kudos to you sir. Here's an unwritten rule/truth: Any job where they don't recognize your great qualities, loyalty and hard work is not one to stay at. Eff 'em.
This guy is a class act. I have nothing but respect for his honesty and admiration for his gratitude to his viewers, colleagues and G-d. I hope he received all the blessings he deserved and more.
Not very classy. His career struggles are between him and his bosses, not the general public (the customers). We don't know the situation here. Maybe there was never an opening. Maybe he just wasn't that good. Maybe the bosses suck and he was right to leave. But if I were in charge of hiring at another station I'd consider him a liability over this.
You can tell who all the millennials are here, the ones who think they're entitled to promotions just because they show up for work every day. All of you who think I'm such a bad person for suggesting that maybe the guy shouldn't have aired (quite literally) his dirty laundry: Have a nice day.
But also, f him for his narcissism. Why explain that to the viewers? Do your job- present the weather. I dont need to hear the passive aggressive horseshit
That seriously has to be the most heartfelt, genuine, respectful goodbye I'm leaving for good speech I've heard in decades. Nothing but respect and I wish him nothing but great success and happiness in life.🙏
For those wondering his name is Tony Derda and he did go on to get a full time weather position you can look him up on RU-vid Wow 700 likes thanks yall
Basically telling the co-workers "it's not you I have the problem with" and telling the higher-ups in a subtle way "Im leaving because you didn't believe I deserved a shot at something bigger".
I get the feeling, and maybe I'm just projecting, this guy worked his butt off and no one appreciated him until he was gone. Maybe he lacked some of the charisma and personality of his co-workers, but he was always polite and eager to lend a helping hand. He did the best job he could do, but never got the recognition he deserved until it was too late, but hey at least he kept his head held high.
@@emilym2274 Believe me. Not many people could keep their composure on moments like this. But he took it way too well. He's just different. I believe even if he has freedom to say anything he wants, he'd say the exact same thing he said on the video
This is the most wholesome thing I've ever seen. I hope he found happiness and prosperity in his life. *EDIT* thanks for all the likes but you can stop replying now, I'm good 👍👍

I hope this man found exactly what he was dreaming of. His story is so relatable, but he had the strength and courage to say “ no more, I’m better than this”. He was very kind, genuine and loving in his sign off. I’d love to hear an update!
If you could point to a specific example of a model American, it would be this guy. Respectful yet strong in his convictions, and humble about his achievements. Sadly we have materialistic narcissists rampaging the streets instead.
This guy is great. He knows that he's just being held back and wants to move forward. I think he said that he was there for 13 years and settling for crumbs. 🥧
I was sorta expecting him to just look at the camera and say "Fuck it I quit". Instead he was very polite I hope he gets that job as a full time meteorologists
@steven milstead After reading up on Miss Greene’s story, something tells me your derisive comment is less about the way she quit her job by standing up proudly and frankly for what she believes in, and more so to do with the fact that you disagree with medical/recreational marijuana use, and/or may be racist. Or, maybe it has nothing to do with either of those things. I do, however, think it’s very telling that those with an issue with my comment have bent over backwards to nitpick at my mentioning that racism may _potentially_ be a factor, but hardly anyone has said anything about the recreational marijuana use. Why reply if it doesn’t apply. Me thinks the lady doth protest too much. Edit: Something that's never made sense to me about racists: If you're so proud to be racist, and feel it's justified, why get offended and try to gaslight when called out for what you are? If you're so proud to the point that you have racist pfp's, usernames, and openly say things like "There's a reason some races are associated with low class" why backpedal when you're accurately assessed? It's like the ku klux wearing those white masks. For what? Aren't you happy to be racist, why hide, why suddenly pretend you're not? Especially when you've got Nazi insignias, openly calling black people the n word, and whatnot, etc. all over your every social media? Hating other/certain races is your entire personality, but you want others to pretend like it's not? It's so much easier to just drink water and go to therapy like everybody else, rather than coping with your personal issues by being racist.
“When the weather was a little slow, maybe I made you smile once in a while.” What a sweet man. I hope he was able to persevere with his career Edit: Can you guys stop roasting Cathy in my replies

I have never seen this man in my life but his speech made me feel like I’m seeing an old friend or host I liked bid his goodbye’s, felt real personal. I hope he was able to continue his dream career after this :(
Yea me too. I am already having a bad day and feeling sad, from depression and a lot of things irl, but this made me feel more sad and cry because he really liked his job but his job didn't like him. He felt like he probably doesn't belong and I know that feeling and how it hurts your heart both emotionally and physically.
"Basically after 13 years of striving to grab the whole Pie, Pie, grab the whole Pie, it's no longer possible to keep settling for just a taste of the crumbs from previously stated pie. To reiterate, I like pie. I have repeatedly urged fox news to use more Pie-based charts when displaying weather predictions, but to no avail. It would have been most useful last week to show to viewers just how Pieping hot it was during the Noontime hours. It should be noted that Pumpkin happens to be my favorite flavor, of pie. To all of you out there in the region who are tuned in, I wish you a good night, cross my heart hope to pie. This is your local meteorologist Peter P. Pie, Signing off."
Clicked on this video to see some epic melt down followed by someone quitting. What I got instead was a humble, earnest and passionate speech by a man tired of selling himself short when he knows he deserves better. I sure hope he has found it…
Mad respect for this man. I strive to speak from my heart as genuinely and concisely as him. Giving years of your life to something you aren't completely satisfied with is not something that anyone should take lightly. I'm glad he have himself a proper exit and that they didn't cut him off
@@mousermind that’s not even right, this person had it right the first time. If your gonna be such an annoying person and go around correcting people’s grammar at least make sure your right before you do it lol smh
For anyone who is still watching this, the guy's name is Tony Derda. He did manage to do some other meteorologist gigs here and there, most recently in Amarillo, Texas. He now teaches 7th grade math at Nick Kerr Middle School in Amarillo and, according to his wedding registry, got married yesterday. To quote Conan O'Brien, "Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get, but if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Seems like he found happiness.
If they didn't want him full time that's their loss. He seems like a genuinely nice dude. I read another comment on here saying he got a full time gig at another station, good for him.
Three weeks after this was aired, they found his body at an unmanned weather station on top of a hill near his house. He hung himself with an electrical cord tied to the chain link fencing surrounding the station. I guess he died how he lived: a weatherman.
Because these ""funny"" people keep saying he died, the truth is that he is probably Tony Derda, and seems to have gotten a full time job in the weather forecast business (though likely retired now). Had to scroll wayyy too much to find this info..
This is the classiest way to let it be known that you got tired of playing second fiddle and aren't going to waste any more of your life knowing they won't give you a chance. Best of luck.
It says to any future employer that you won't do the job you are given and rather than submit a letter of resignation and move on, you embarrass your current employer.
@@executivelifehacks6747 I wouldn't say pulling a stunt like that is embarrassing. I think it was very well executed, and much better than going full ape shit. I think it would actually demonstrate to a future employer that he was calm, and collected. And there is no way you know he didn't submit a letter of resignation in advance, or how he did his job before.
@@doogus8728 Executive Life Hacks is right -- all this should have been said to bosses in private, not on the public airways to tell viewers about problems behind the scenes. No future employer will want him -- they won't risk the same public shaming.

Idiots rather give full time/good positions to friends and family regardless of work ethic, interest or dedication. It's sad when nepotism results in hard workers getting shafted and mediocre ones with a connection getting rewarded. (Not saying it always happens, just when it happens).
@@ZentaBon This is not necessarily true. I'm one of those types, where in my job (yes, it's true) I thrive on a bit of chaos, making everything come together. My boss knows that I really don't mind being overloaded as long as I am appreciated.

Much respect for this weatherman. He did what he could to try and make it, but it just didn't work out. I hope somewhere out there he finally got passed the breadcrumbs and got to have a taste of the full pie. Here's to knowing when to take a new path when your old one wasn't doing you any good 🍻

I wish I knew someone like this person. They seem genuine, truthful, and someone who speaks their mind without hesitation.
He was so polite. He makes it clear that he was thankful for the opportunity but it just wasn't for him and there's no one to blame for that. There are so many ways that people quit jobs (especially when other people are watching) that just make them look like an ass, but this guy did it right. Props to him, I hope wherever he is now he is living his best life 👍
it’s rare to see adults talking about their dreams because having dreams is regarded as a “childish” things, and adults are expected to be able to do exactly what they want, when in reality it’s not that easy and has a lot to do with chances and timing. really hope this guy made his a reality

So this speaks to me, and it’s funny I came across this tonight. I did a similar signoff (local show in Baton Rouge) after years of shitty breaks in broadcasting-one lie or scam after another, Baton Rouge AND Houston. I finally put the kibosh on it, only to land the gig of a lifetime this week doing a much better kind of media work in *Washinton, DC.* It sucks when your plans don’t work out, but sometimes you eventually get satisfaction in knowing that there’s something bigger and better on the other side of it. He’s clearly a standup guy.

I just left TV after years of being promised full-time work as a reporter but the station never actually followed through. This is the way of the business. I hope this man got his full-time gig at another station. I think many stations would have been happy to have a weatherman so well-spoken.
It hurts to see someone open up and talking honestly about his issues. It’s clear this man loves what he does, and for whatever reason he has decided to move on. Sometimes we just need to be ourselves and speak our mind. We need more hero’s like this.
@Hyperskreem 82 he explains why he’s leaving, but doesn’t explain exactly why. Don’t know if he’s going into a new field of study, or if he’s been fired, or what ever his situation is. All I can say is I hope he happy.
@@congruentcrib he literally says he is tired of getting crumbs, he wants the whole pie. Pretty clearly states the exact reason why.
