Beautiful work! So on a massive loom like this, where you're not manually moving the shuttle but pulling a cord and letting the loom do it instead, how do you go about managing your selvedges? I have to guess that's one of the "many settings" you were talking about having to adjust?
That project planning website seems super useful. I just googled it. It even has a copy/paste feature if one wants to copy it to a document to save stuff. You should put it in your description! Also can't wait to see what comes from this fun cotton. Such a great natural color!
Can’t wait to see the blazer! I didn’t know about this kind of warping sectionally without a spool rack and it’s awesome! I did know about sand paper beams and this is magic! What a lovely AVL loom you got! Great looking fabric too!
I can't wait either! I have a spool rack, but the thought of winding all those spools every time I want to put on a warp is... unappealing Especially since I often wind short warps. I do love this loom, despite all the hiccups that come from learning such a complicated piece of equipment. I've been told the learning curve is worth it. Thank you for watching!
So glad that I saw your video! Nearing the end of brown seed cotton that was grown in the US and spun on handspindles. Is there any unginned Acadian cotton available? I will also look into the cones for my weaving but have long dreamed of spinning some too.

Thank you for sharing. :~) I just took a look at Acadian Brown Cotton's website, and I'll certainly be trying the yarn out! Think they'll ever sell the unspun fiber for spinners? B~)
Thank you!!! It's a really special fiber. The team is working on having roving/sliver milled in the next few weeks. The turnaround time should be fairly quick. Typically, ginned cotton is available, but it's being held for processing. Do you prefer to card your own fiber or spin from silver? I've got tons of both in my personal stash. I could send you some samples if you'd like!
Hi Darcy, a hand weaver from Germany here, A very interesting project you have going. A question I have: I have never seen a sandpaper beam. Is it a special sandpaper? was it already in the loom when you got it? can you get a really good tension with? Would love to hear your experiences....Keep up the good work ;-)
Hi Hermine! The sandpaper beam came with the loom. I believe they come standard with certain AVL looms. This loom doesn't work well at a very high tension, but it's just enough. It has an automatic tension and auto advance so that the tension stays throughout the entire warp.
