@@ShakingMyMind I agree, it's nothing compared to child birth. And that's also something to consider what if she can't do it naturally due to complications (God forbid) she has to get injected with anesthetic but she said it gives her panic attacks which is a very serious case
Hey Adrienne..love you and all and not necessarily doubting you however I have worked as an Endodontics assistant and general dentistry assistant and want you to know the topical is to help reduce the pain of the needle...if topical was used I highly doubt an anesthetic wasnt used..topical is called topical because it doesn't penetrate to the nerves so Its almost impossible to do a root canal especially if the nerve was still alive..also you might want to listen to your dentists because there are local anesthetics that do not contain epinephrine and I could almost guess he or she suggested it to you. I understand your fears but sometimes we have to trust our doctors and listen to their advice . With love. A concerned fan that doesn't want you suffering out of ignorance. Disclaimer:- I might be wrong but this is what I have learned from what dentists say while assisting and one problem I usually see is patients coming in misinformed and refusing to listen to the dentist.
The topical anesthetic only numbs soft tissue, not the inside of the tooth. And she said she was allergic to epi in the anesthetic but there is anesthetic without epi ....
Girl, Adrienne you can have anaesthetic which doesn’t have epinephrine 😕 you can get the plain solution because epinephrine is not the active ingredient! Usually used on heart patients and unstable high blood pressure
This will sound weird but ask if you can get a manual cleaning (no whizzing tools or ultrasonics) it hurts a lot less usually, it just takes a bit longer, also ask to have some numbing cream rubbed into your gums a minute or two before starting. Don't let them try to tell you to not be a "baby", my teeth are sensitive and I have receding gums which only makes things more painful, it can be excruciating. Pain is pain and you shouldn't have to experience it unnecessarily.
I have had multiple cavities filled, have had 3 teeth pulled out, have had braces for 4.5 years during which 2 screws were put in the top of my mouth to attach a contraption to help them get straight, which were horrible to take out. I am definitely not scared of the dentist because I would have been dead by now..
what if Adrienne needs surgery or something lol ?! I have anxiety like that and my heart races and it was terrible when I had to get put asleep for my surgery I was so scared lol good thing it knocks you out in like 15 seconds, it doesn't give you time to worry lol
There is adrenaline free local anaesthetic in every dentist's office. Unless it's purely psychosomatic, i.e. panic attack inducing, her spiel about epinephrine makes no sense. Local doesn't make you high and dentist's take a patients history for a reason, if you have an allergy or sensitivity to adrenaline, they will give you adrenaline free local.
i didnt go to the dentist in 5 years and finally i went last week i was so nervous like omg they going to find so many cavities and they going to say my teeth are so bad. but literally he was like wow i cannot believe you havent been to the dentist in 5 years you have looked after your teeth soooo well. no cavities no issues whatsoever. well done. i was so shocked.
Response to Adrienne: There’s a local anesthetic called Carbocaine that DOES NOT contain epinephrine.... no point of feeling pain when that dentist could’ve used that. Google it!
@@pmp3486 Anesthesia/sedatives lower the HR, and aren't stimulants either, they cause bradycardia and respiratory depression if anything. Only methylphenidaten(amphetamine), Betablockers, caffeine, thiophylline are stimulants. Paradoxical effects of some drugs can cause tachycardia, but sedatives aren't one. I didn't understand what she was going on about.
I hate the dentist, but it’s good to go. I had all of my wisdom teeth pulled at once and they put me to sleep. I woke up and it was over. That’s the way I like it.
I thought a numbing cream works only on the surface of the gum. And I hear people say root canal treatment is painful even with some anesthesia, so it must be still painful with a numbing cream.
My grandma actually had a full root canal under hypnosis in the 70s because she was allergic to anesthesia. She swears she didn’t feel anything at all, but placebo or no I’d take it!
I HATE IT... I hate hearing drills I hate the radiation / x rays & stuff....I feel like the people that like it are the ones that don’t have any cavities and don’t “ have anything to worry about “ lol
I remember going to the dentist for a cleaning. I don't play about my teeth & keep them clean always. So they was going in to floss my teeth, & for some reason every dentist I've had flosses extremely hard. They always say to me "well you need to start brushing your teeth better because your gums are bleeding..." In my head I'd be like I WONDER WHY
I'm a dental assistant in South Africa. I also had my last wisdom tooth removed yesterday morning. I would not have been able to take the pain so I let the dentist inject me with a local anaesthetic that contained adrenaline. The adrenaline for my heart racing in seconds so much so that I struggled to control my breathing. I can see that this would cause Adrienne to have a panic attack. Honestly she should talk to her dentist about aneasthethic that doesn't contain adrenaline because it does exist exactly for people that can't handle the side effects of adrenaline.
Topical anesthetic for her root canal? Uhhh....no....that is not going to numb the nerve inside the tooth, only the soft tissue that the topical is applied to. And there is anesthetic without epi....#dentalprofessional
i had braces on for like three years so im used to go to the dentist. not as scared anymore unless i have procedure like implants but yeah...i walk into the dentist like a mall xD, i dont particular like going there but i rmber having my cavity cleaned and it was relaxing hearing the buzzing sound and you just laid there on the bed...pretty relaxing lol the vibration of the machine is also a bonus
You don’t feel high, you feel numb on your gums. I think she’s misinformed. It’s not altering at all. The only time you’ll feel high is if you so laughing gas. You shouldn’t be given laughing gas for a cavity fill. Change your dentist Adrienne!
Wow Ade that's crazy, having a cavity filled alone is gruesome cuz they are shaving around the tooth and even with numbing you still feel the nerves whew
The thing is, when you take care of your teeth and brush them every single day then you ain't got nothing to worry about. Cause then, just a check up is more than enough and very quickly done. You need to visit a dentist that does their work very good. Mine doesn't talk too much, he just says hello but when he is in his zone, that is the best. He'll just give instructions of opening your mouth more and to lay still when taking a teeth picture (I don't know the name).
There is “plain” anaesthetic with No epinephrine in it at all! Does not make your heart race. We use it on our elderly patients and also patients with maaaannny cardiovascular conditions. And people who are just straight up nervous already with a strong heart beat. Ask about it!
The only thing I don’t like about the dentist is when my gums end up hurting if they accidentally scrape too hard with the hook tool I don’t floss so I feel bad when I go and they always tell me to floss I’m with Adrienne a cleaning is not bad, thank God I’ve not had to go for anything serious, maybe a cavity filling.
I didn't went to the dentist for two years and the lady at the reception, which is the dentist's wife, was mad MAD at me 🤣 This is the only time when i was like "damn 😳" Other than that, i don't mind the dentist. As long as i get some sort of medication so i don't feel anything I'm good 🤷🏻♀️
You guys ain't convincing me to go to the dentist, no! I've only been to the dentist once in my life. Lol I know that sounds horrible but trust me people I'm ok, no bad breath nor infections.
I think I'm just like A! I once got high and had the worst panic attack and hallucinated badly!! it was crazy and so idgaf about the pain at least I know I'm not gonna die LOL
shoutout to my city lol i had free braces haha. 4 years and now i went to get check up as im over 18 i pay but its only £14 lol. but i did have to pay for my replacement retainers which was £80. so not that bad overall. im from the UK, Wales btw.
I’m like Adrienne. I freak out too much of not having control over my body. So I be never smoked or drank ever. My sister got ate an edible and freaked out and barfed and it just convinced me more to not even try. Call me a party pooper, but I don’t play that!
I hate the dentist and I am terrified of the dentist. Getting my teeth cleaned ain’t so bad my hate the scraping with that hook tool and I just know I’ve got more cavities. I’m not like Adrienne , I need to be heavily medicated before any dental procedure. I have a good dentist , he prescribed me benzos to calm me down. I take one before the appointment and when I get there I just sit back in the chair , put some music on and relax.
