I took 2 of my Weber's and made a the holy grail of a smoker.. Soon will be able to fit 21 slabs of baby back ribs or 7 14-17 lbs of briskets.. This was my 1st attempt cooking on this beast with 48 whole wings on 4 of the 5 racks that I currently have. I have more racks on the way to make room for more.. When finished I'll be able to grill 96 whole wings at once..!
I'll call it "The Weber Smokey Bandit Kettle"

The conversion with the 8 racks uses the wsm bottom.. The kettle bottom has much better airflow but I'm working on modifying the wsm to work the same. I should have a vid up on it by next week. Thanks for watching.

Hey Joe, Now u just have to add more support for the legs on the kettle for stability and add a second midsection barrel on top of the other one. 👍
@BBQJOE
@BBQJOE 5 лет назад
Yes I agree with you 100%.. I'm going to talk to my fabricator and ask him to build me a hd bottom base with casters. Unfortunately the mid sections are not stackable. This thing stands almost 6' tall lol. Going to need a step latter if I go higher. Although the bottom base I want built will lower this unit about 1 foot which will be perfect imo..

Very nice! I am considering doing a diy version of this with steel drum. Used Weber kettles are 40-70 dollars depending on the ash tray on the bottom. drums are 15 dollars.

Awesome setup, was considering adding the wsm for some height myself. What is the advantage (if any) of using a kettle as the base pit vs just adding the bandit extension to the wsm?
@BBQJOE
@BBQJOE Год назад
The legs on the kettle aren't very supportive. Just have to be careful if using it as a base.

Great idea and mods bro. You and Ken need to get together to brainstorm. Then start you own super company. :)
@BBQJOE
@BBQJOE 5 лет назад
That would be awesome if Ken is up for that.. I just redid both my Weber Kettle and WSM.. I need to get some extra parts to complete them and when I do I'll shoot a vid on both of them. It's amazing what you can do with owning 1 of each. I haven't forgot about making that sauce recipe you have.. I just haven't had time to do a vid on it yet.

Well Joe, you have the same ideas of combination of kettle married to the wsm. Ken over at Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que has been working and manipulating these two cookers on his Weber Silver Mountain cooker for a couple years. Think Jay at Campmeat BBQ has also been doing some of this, just no vids. You have added some more ideas with the multi-level doubled up racks. It's great the way we inspire each other to add a little twist to our version of it. This ought to get lots of views in time. Way to go. Glad you had a video. Looking forward to the 21 rib rack cook. You just made HMB proud. Check out his Weber Silver Mountain modded out kettle/wsm.

Thanks Brother Phil.......It does make me smile when I see this stuff. The possibilities are endless! Mod On! \m/
@BBQJOE
@BBQJOE 5 лет назад
Thank you and yes I've seen Ken's Silver Mountain.. Its a beast and absolutely love it. I didn't know Jay was building one but can't wait to see it. I've had this idea of stacking 2 wsm center sections many years ago but they won't properly stack without modifications. Hopefully by this weekend I can have all the 7-8 racks installed. The primary reason why I like the kettle's bottom is cause of the ash catcher. I'm just having fun like the rest of us.

Joe do you have the contact info on where to purchase the conversion pieces. I looked online but couldn't find anything.
@BBQJOE
@BBQJOE 5 лет назад
Yes.. You can get the Cajun Bandit pieces on Cajun Bandit's website. You might have to go direct to Weber to get the lower grates. You'll have to call them cause I couldn't fund them on there website. You can get the nuts and bolts at your local hardware store. Thanks for watching.
