Great review thanks. Not sure I have seen any other review of the MK2…. Nice to hear all MK1 issues seem to be resolved especially since I should be receiving mine in 2 weeks! 😁
Thanks for sharing this video with us today... Your video has really made me want to delve deeper into seriously considering the purchase of this grinder. I do need to make up my mind on color (black vs white) first. I currently own a black Niche Zero, but I'm leaning toward moving to white? I'm also thinking about upgrading my espresso machine as well. I'm currently using a Quick Mill E61 type dual boiler with rotary pump at present. Both of these higher end items will be costly so I'm not rushing my decisions at this point. Plus, I've even considered getting a flat burr grinder as well... yep, I'm deep down that little rabbit hole for sure 🙂 Thanks again
Thank you! My advice, give this decision a lot of time. Once you get into this price tier you are dealing with big dollar amounts and the taste does vary widely. The Niche Zero is (still) a super solid choice and one of the best value grinders out there for traditional style espresso.
Great video, Justin. Only found out you were at the Taipei Coffee Expo last year after the fact. Hope I can get a picture in if you decide to visit again this year ^_^
Thank you! I LOVED my time in Taipei. It was so short but it was incredible. It was actually just before the expo, on year I hope to make that expo! The coffee scene in Taipei is incredible!
i got a rok grinder and loved it for pourover. I also started experimenting with blind shaking for pourover and i agree, the grounds looks more homogenized
My brain had me convinced that lower rpm creates less fines. In my experience lately with the grinders that I own, it appears slow feeding at higher rpm creates the least amount of fines
Yeah I don’t totally know what is happening. It’s almost like the PSD peak shifts finer at higher rpm? When dialing in at the same grind setting at both low and high rpm, I still find higher body and more blended flavor? I don’t have a laser analyzer to know for sure but I did JUST get a DiFluid omni last night so I’m gonna have a look with that.
It really does and feels like no compromises were made in that way. I always say that gear spends more time on your counter doing nothing for you to look at than it does grinding or making coffee. It should look good and this is one of the best looking grinders out there imo.
