Always head up if some one uses unusual units. 2m/s are 3,8 kts

I attempted to buy a liveaboard sailboat in Florida in 1991...I eventually gave up living my dream of living on a sailboat because I was not willing to smell diesel, be a diesel mechanic, and be at the mercy, like other sailors, of a very unreliable machine when you really "need" the diesel to start. Now 30 years later I am putting together my plans for a full electric sailboat as my retirement home thanks to improved electrical motor/battery technology. Now I just need Oceanvolt to develop a servo prop sail drive at 20-25 kW so that I can install two of them.

Christian, so many good explanations! I'm curious why no one ever talks about the safety of electric over diesel. Most sailors have been in a situation where they need to add motor power/thrust as quickly as possible and if you have diesel engine, it will take you a "very long time" to start the engine, put it in gear, and exert thrust...whereas with an electric it is instantaneous! Therefore, that emergency situation is addressed with thrust as quickly as one can get to the helm and not 5-15 seconds later as with a diesel setup. This doesn't take into account all of the times in a sailors life that their diesel engine doesn't start when needed for a multitude of diesel short-comes.

This is an excellent point and maybe something we should add to our "Safety & Reliability"-whitepaper.

Electric is the future everyone knows there is no turning back, unfortunately because of less volume, boat industry is very behind cars. But eventually they will keep up. Wisdom will win, many will object because of traditions but the newcomers, fresh starters will choose the wise choice. Advantages are not questionable, same like horses to cars it will happen :) Already the ranges are acceptable for those not in hurry and use sails most of time. Starlink + electric + hydroregen+ solar + watermaker + fishing is the perfect combo to be completely independent&free from land :) I believe 2 big problem: 1- sea behaves badly on electronics and you need to pay a lot of attention to maintenance & charge cycles of batteries, but overall maintenance of diesel fuel that is not used very often is also an issue that require similar level of efforts 2-you can find a diesel mechanic anywhere in the world but an electrical motor failure can take a huge amount of time to repair because of people missing skills. For those who can make their own maintenance i guess these are solvable :) So, training is the key: I think oceanvolt should provide very good detailed maintenance manuals, videos to teach people and spread the skills for maintenance, knowledge and training will even distribute the word and people will see indeed it is much simpler and clean then diesel to maintain they just need to learn. You should also promote more sail channels like sailing uma, sailing wisdom because people learn a lot from them, they also make dinosaurs to see that it is possible. I suggest also electricboats yahoo group there are a lot of very enthusiastic people there working on active projects

Can you do dual setup on a cat, having 2x2 on a hybrid solution, with full regen ? Eksample; 2 x 15 kw SD on each hull. I can do a battery solution that's gona take any kind of load, so my question only goes on if the Oceanvolt solution can handle the load.
