The 3rd round of the World Endurance Championship is about to begin, as the 38 cars take to the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps for Round 3 of the WEC 2023 season. There is a lot to talk about! From new hypercars, to track specifics, and to where and when to watch this event! 2:01 Just want to point out that teams are not required to run with 3 drivers. The Sporting Requlations stated that a team can have 3 drivers maximum. As seen in GTE Pro the last few years there are teams that opted to only use 2 drivers for the "shorter" races in the championship. Anyway I think it's good that Aitken is jumping in and also that Action Express is involved with the second Caddy at Spa, good prep for Le Mans

Cheers mate Spa is always been one of my all time favorites circuits and now we have several manufacturers fighting for overall victory, this is awesome, but I can’t wait for the Centennial 24 hours of Le Mans. Keep on bringing more content like this Jonah!! 🔥🥳

This race has the perfect ingredients for a great race for the WEC. A great and historic track, the biggest hypercar grid ever, and a very competitive LMP2 ans GTE am class. Hopefully this race can deliver in the hypercar class with Ferrari, Cadillac, and Porsche taking the fight to Toyota. Ferrari have proven that they can rival Toyota at times with them getting pole in Sebring and getting the fastest lap overall in a FP2. Here is to a great race and a great weekend for racing!

To be fair, it was very interrupted running in FP2, and Toyota up until the final interruption that ended the session had just been doing high fuel runs. However, having said that, it would also be fair to say Ferrari's FP2 time is faster than the FP1 time, and the fastest time that has ever been set by a Hypercar at this circuit. Apparently the tires have stepped up a notch in pace.

I have to agree that more so than any other race we have seen this year, the other Hypercar factory teams are going to step up to the plate and give Toyota a tough run for their money. Don't underestimate Cadillac, and I also believe that Porsche and Ferrari, as well as Peugeot, are going to be in the fight. I don't think... I can't say for sure, that Toyota might have things all their own way and have a chance to run and hide from everyone else. We'll see.

@@FormulaJonah I think we started to see in Portimao that the other Hypercars can and perhaps will push Toyota harder. Spa on Saturday will be a fascinating race to watch. I digress, Free Practice and qualifying too. Not just the race.

Cadillac have the top speed in Portimao and Richard lock the tyre and created a flat spot early in that race. They have a good chance, and 2’nd in FP3

I suspect it'll still be a Toyota victory and still by a good margin. However I feel like podium this week will be Ferrari and Cadillac this time. Early pace looks good but also I just trust their process to grow them to a podium this weekend. I am also expecting the 33 to not win this race now they got a 45KG success ballast and I see the group of Companc, Rovera, and Wadoux winning.

Be careful if your watching on Eurosport. Don’t know about other countries but in UK it’s cutting of covering at 1 and coming back on at 3:15

The Corvette team are up to 45kg of ballast. That is a non significant amount of weight to carry in the car. It's going to be harder for them to win races from here on out. Doesn't mean it's impossible, but they've got one hand tied behind their back.

Next year the Hypercar grid will consist of 19 cars😮 the 13 we already have, and the addition of 1 Porsche 963 for Proton, 2 WRT Bimmers, 1 Lambo, 2 Alpines, absolutely crazy

@@nomiguda oh yes, thx for reminding me, 20 cars then, and Lambo have plans to put another factory car on addition to the 1 they'll have next year, I think they're also thinking of selling their Lmdh to customers

Thanks again FJ. Strangely I’ve never been a fan of Spa, I have a problem with circuits like Spa and Monza that have tight first corners which can take out multiple cars in the first seconds of a race. But the next set of corners are spectacular leading onto the straight. You are right about Toyota being favourites, I just hope by Le Mans the other hypercars can match them.
