You just gained a new subscriber tonight! It was your video on the Skipper Dream bedroom that caught my eye as i have that same set but need to put it together. Back in the day for me, when i would lose a 'pearl' Barbie earring, or just to change colors, i used some of my Mom's straight pins that had a 'pearl' type top to them...and would bend the pins kind of 'L' shaped to make them fit in her head. i came up with that idea as a little kid! ~LOL~ Hey, it worked! Nothing wrong at all with repro Barbie anything! Just wish they had made a repro Titan hair bubble cut like the one i had, although i was able to find a vintage one. i went on an eBay spending spree some years ago and spent **cough** TONS of $$$ to replace a lot, and then some more, of my Barbie collection. My Mom had donated ALL my precious Barbie collection...which included the very rare 1964 Barbie Dream Kitchen Dinette, for a church sale...without asking me first (though i would have said NO!). Your videos are nice and i just LOVE Cinnamon! i used to have Siamese, both Seal and Bluepoints, and they were the best cats ever...although i say that about any cat, and dog, and any animal because i love them all. Ok, crazy lady needs to get to bed now. Thank you SO much for posting your Barbie videos! They make me ~smile~ and warm my heart! {{HUGS}} ~Darla~
So glad to have you here! The skipper dream room is gorgeous it just takes up way too much space lol. That is awful your mom got rid of all your barbie stuff, especially the kitchen dinette!!! How I want one muselfb
I don't like using the metal post earrings either. In the mid 2000s Mattel used a plastic earring that was covered in pearl and silver chrome paint. I hoard these for my dolls. They used these on the 2009 Wedding Day Set doll and Registered Nurse. I think the doll from Friday Night Dream Date had them too. They stay in the ears much better too.
I need to get some of those sometime! I guess when doing reproductions people will complain if it isn’t as accurate as possible. But I’d rather have safe earrings that don’t go green. The Barbie learns to cook doll us already greening in boxes!!
Such a beautiful dress. Of course in the very first Barbie commercial this was like the climax of the commercial and I wondered if it was subliminal advertising for the goal of marriage. Different times.
I think there can be no doubt about the intent. Barbie was unique in that she didn’t focus on the mother aspect, as she had no baby or children.....until she became a babysitter anyway!
@@JazzHands I think that's part of the vintage Barbie charm. They sold the idea that she could be any thing without rubbing in your face that is was sooooo noteworthy that she could be.
@4Freedom4All To be fair though, it really was the climax of the first commercial even before she had any career clothes or ken existed at all. We have different point of views and that’s fine.
@4Freedom4All I see what you’re saying and I get it completely, but as i said earlier, I have my point of view and you have yours. Also don’t start with all that stuff about “you youngins” because most people have a basic understanding of inflation. I do agree with your points but I still do hold my perspective because the way I see it, it can fully well be a combination of both. Also most bride dolls weren’t sold with a groom and when in fact ken did appear, marriage was at the end of that commercial too, which kinda further supports my point of it being some kind of climax of life rather than just solely about fashion and price points.
I’m considering purchasing a wedding day Barbie. I’m questioning the body, whether it’s a a heavy plastic or the more cheap light weight of some of these reproductions. Thanks
I’m going to be honest, I can’t remember the dolls themselves. I remember being impressed with the repro dolls, and I THINK they were fairly heavy. I had the impression that the brunette wedding day barbie was the best and closest #1 repro Mattel ever did. But it’s been a long time since I had it in my hand!
Thank you so much! I’m sorry I haven’t been updating lately--I had to get the cameras removed from my phone so I could have it at my new job! I’ll be making more videos soon, I ordered the iPhone 11 just so I could do the videos again! In addition to vintage Barbie, I’ve started collecting Licca-Chan clothing and structures, I’m very excited to showcase the Japanese Barbie’s high quality play sets and outfits!! Hope you will stay tuned for those too!
Jazz hands I have great news I'm getting a vintage barbie and I think with this outfit, it's coming in in monday!!! finally Also it might be reproduction
Reproductions are fine, they are usually way more affordable and are usually clean and crisp feeling! Collect what you can get a hold of! No one will look down on reproductions
@@JazzHands I would've gotten a solo in the spotlight or enchanting evening but this particular outfit really caught my eyes. Also, the barbie has ginger hair I think, which I've always wanted! Can't wait
HAve you seen the one that came after? Many people apparently prefer the second one, but I love this first one the best. The lace cover over the shoulders reminds me of the dresses Grace Kelly always wore
Pedro Gloria seriously! You could buy 5-6 fashion paks, or two other outfit sets for just this one! Probably a Christmas present! It was worth two tanks of gas, according to one of my coworkers who was a teen in the 60s!
She is so cute I don’t know why every time I watch one of your videos all your 50s barbies remind me of the one your mom had that you have I don’t now why I think all your dolls are gorgeous and also your cat is so cute!😁👍😉♥️🥳
Maybe they did it on purpose to give a lighter touch?? I haven’t heard about their painting intent on the newer repros. (Btw, if you want to see my cat more check out the complete skipper dream room setup. She attacks me from the corner!)
