2nd Swing master fitter Thomas Campbell and staff writer Drew Mahowald recently had the opportunity to test the new Cleveland CBX 2 wedges at Bent Creek Golf Club in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. In this exclusive video, they discuss some of the new technology that has been incorporated into the CBX 2 wedges, as well as provide in-depth feedback about the look and feel of the new wedges and how they performed both on full shots and around the green. Cleveland’s CBX 2 wedges feature a cavity back design and were created as a more forgiving option for golfers who play cavity back irons.

I purchased these wedges in 50, 56, and 60. I replaced the wedges that were included in my Taylormade RAC OS iron set (I have been using them since 2005). These clubs are perfect for players, like me, that are looking for more consistent performance with the main types of shots that we are capable of hitting around the greens. I don't hit flops from tight lies or try and get too creative, because I don't have time to practice those shots. I tend to take my medicine when I get in a really tight spot and not compound my problem by pushing the envelope (most of the time anyway). These wedges have performed stellar for me and getting them on sale for $99 a pop was icing on the cake. I love these clubs and they have turned out to be my favorite club purchases to date. If you get a chance give them a try and see if they fit the way you actually play and not how you wish you could play. (nobody I play with even notices that they are cavity back wedges, since they don't look like a space ship or anything)

@@2ndswing it definitely works! Im now able to hit the ball relatively well out of the bunker. still have a ways to go as im still trying to get the hang of it all but it does the job. I also like it on rough lies. il probably get a lob wedge at some point

Agree the CBX2 is excellent out of the bunker for novice players. I love my 52 and 56. Can't hit my 60 at all for some reason. That's probably a mind over matter thing.

I have A CBX 56 sand wedge best I have ever had, thinking of adding a gap and lob wedge. These have improved my short game greatly. Playing the HB Launcher love them as a senior 24 handicapper, is it worth changing to the new turbo Launcher and are the new woods forgiving?

Hi Steve, Cleveland does a great job with the CBX wedge line to help provide short game forgiveness for players who need it. You'd probably really like the CBX 2 lob wedge, as not only is it forgiving and not only does it provide exceptional spin, but the new C Grind sole design makes it easier to hit different types of shots. In terms of the irons, probably the biggest difference you'll see with the Turbos is improved sound and feel. But they're still hot off the face and arguably the most forgiving irons in golf. The Turbo woods are also very forgiving and deliver solid ball speed numbers as well.

I just got the 56 12 degree. Coming from an rtx4 10 bounce. Will it take a while to get used to it?

are you planning a review on Cleveland uhx (d) duel wedge out in October 4th USA and October 14th UK
@2ndswing
@2ndswing 5 лет назад
We will have a video coming out on October 4 about the new Launcher UHX and Launcher HB irons but we didn't do anything specific with the UHX wedges. Our understanding, and maybe this isn't correct, is that the Dual Wedge is essentially the gap wedge of the UHX set, which we didn't have for testing. We had the 4-iron, 7-iron, and PW. But we can look into getting our hands on one and testing it out. Our guys, however, did really like the UHX pitching wedge for what it's worth. Thanks!

How does the 60 in full face compare to 60 cbx2
@2ndswing
@2ndswing 4 года назад
Not sure if you mean in terms of look or playability? In terms of look, the Full-Face, even though it has an expanded toe region, looks a bit smaller at address. Feel, spin, and forgiveness would be very similar. The biggest difference is that the Full-Face offers more versatility in terms of being able to open the face to play different types of shots and excel from tight lies around the green. Hope that helps!

Cbx 2 is far more forgiving than CBXFF. The ff is designed for mid handicappers who are opening up the face for flot shots. For full swings you want to be using the CBX2 all day. I liked the FF for bunkers, but out on the fairway it was unpredictable.
