Thank you for more wonderful content. I'm serious about returning to low singles and will be buying 4 little flags to set up at 10m, 20m etc. and will do my best to learn these distances with all my wedges - soon to be 4. Great challenge and can already see how this one drill is going to revolutionise my game. Cheers from Sydney - Aust, Dave

But I just watched the wedge video before this and he talks about ball middle of stance and here it looks like ball is in the back ..
@TheNYgolfer
@TheNYgolfer 4 года назад
@Rob Klein - It's all about camera angle. Stop the video at 0:57 and the ball looks to be dead center. One second later, the video switches to another camera, and the ball now looks back in his stance. He then flares his left foot out and the ball now looks even further back in his stance.

I can drive the ball 280-290 straight. I can hit long irons straight and the right distance. Put me anywhere from 30 yards to 120 and I am so lost and confused. Maybe I'm too scared of hitting it too far, so i always leave it short

Go read Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible….it will transform your short game so that you could end up being a really good all round player!

I consider my hands during wedges not only crucial but active. Yet, if you compare our two wedge swings you’d say he used his hands more than I do lol
@TheNYgolfer
@TheNYgolfer Год назад
Depends on what you mean by "using the hands". If you are referring to how he "rolls" his right hand over his left through impact, that is not done consciously by him. He is a "swinger" , and the roll happens automatically. If your thought is to actively roll your hands, you are missing his point. He wants to keep the hands out of it, because they will fail you under pressure. Yes you can do it but you are introducing a timing factor. When the choke string is tight, timing something like that is a challenge. On the other hand, there is the method of the "hitter". So if in your swing, you are actively driving the shaft with the trail arm, then that's fine. That's what hitters do.

@TheNYgolfer
@TheNYgolfer 4 года назад
@James Compo- Of course there is a rolling of the wrists in his style of swing. What he means by "no wrist" is that he is not consciously/intentionally rolling his wrists on the downswing. The wrists/hands rolling over through impact is due to the natural tendency of the clubhead wanting to roll around its sweetspot IF you ALLOW it to. That's why he talked about a light grip (like holding a banana). Most people will put a death grip on the club which prevents the clubhead from rolling naturally and they end up shanking the ball because the hosel leads the clubface. On the backswing he does intentionally roll the clubface open, but on the downswing he just lets his arms and hands come along for the ride as his pivot leads the action. He allows/trusts the clubhead to do what it is designed to do. He does not use his hands to help in anyway. He is big on not letting the small, fast twitch muscles in the hands and wrists become active because he feels that under pressure they will fail you. I was a big fan of his when he first came out with his books ( Putt Like a Pro, The Putting Bible and The Short Game Bible). Read them all and spent years working on the principles, but as I experimented with them I found some things just didn't work well for me under pressure. Through further research I stumbled across the 2 people that changed my life in golf. One was Homer Kelly and The Golfing Machine and the other is Geoff Mangum , whom I consider to be "hands down", the most knowledgeable person on the science of putting on the planet.

What a terrible idea. He should make one green and then just back up for different distances
@Karma-qt4ji
@Karma-qt4ji 4 года назад
All 4 greens are different sizes and it kinda makes sense to keep the tee box static. If there were any changes at all, I would suggest (in an ideal world) that the greens be at the same elevation as the tee box so the drop in elevation does not alter the distance and fall angle of the shot.

@@Karma-qt4ji But then you can't tell exactly where it lands.
@Karma-qt4ji
@Karma-qt4ji 4 года назад
@@brianball2137 OF course you can. If the green is on the same elevation as you, you can see the ball come down, but elevation change is one of the factors that affects distance as well as the angle at which the ball drops, so it can be misleading.

do you do that when you play golf? You hit to different targets. I WISH my local course had this setup for a practice area.
