Weed killer can be used to knock out weeds in an area where you do not want plants to grow. I am testing a vinegar weed killer which is one of the main ingredients in many homemade weed killer recipes. I am also testing Roundup which has the active ingredient glyphosate. I spray a broadleaf weed with both products as well as a grassy weed in a gravel area. Both products worked great. I do not recommend using these in the lawn where damage can occur to the desirable turfgrass. Either of these products can be used in gravel or in the cracks of a driveway or sidewalk. Make sure to follow the label and wear PPE when apply any herbicide or weed control product.

The key to killing weeds is to stop photosynthesis. For gravel or rocks not under trees indaziflam works great for 8 months. Bleach is cheaper lol. Great video sir. Nice to see our trade on RU-vid with a knowledgeable review.

Whenever I watch vinegar weed control RU-vid videos no one mentions the acidic strength of the vinegar. Vinegar outperforms round up and is safer than roundup. However it requires 30% or better of acidic strength with 2 cups of epson salt and a 1/4 cup of dawn and on a hot day of 80+ degrees. My experience is about 30 minutes after application the weed can look very fried. My hands have been tied and my yard was out of control because I have 2 puppies that we are trying to protect from harsh chemicals. The vinegar is no problem because the smell is so sharp and nasty they dare not approach the treated areas. Also I have ivy that shows a reaction to the vinegar treatment but looks like I merely gave it a headache. Guess what? Vinegar comes in several strengths a 45%, 50%, 65% and a 75%. So when the 75% strength shows up on my doorstep I'll make sure to introduce to the Ivy. I forgot to mention household vinegar only contains 5 to 6% of acidic strength so if you're using household vinegar you'll be disappointed unless you don't mind spraying it daily until you see the results you're looking for.

Would be curious if you sprayed Bermuda grass with concentrated vinegar again about a week later if it would stress it out enough to kill it.

Thanks for the testing! I have a bed that has a Palm tree with 3+" of mulch. Bermuda grass continuously finds it's way through the mulch. Can I carefully spray Glyphosate without fear of it penetrating to the soil affecting the Palm?

Glyphosate enters the plant through the leaves. It will not transfer in through the stems or roots. That is why it is good to use on established hedges with weeds trying to grow up through the canopy. You can spay it liberally all over the weeds and the stems of the hedges without hurting what you want to keep.

What's your opinion on Roundup and honey bees? Does the bee actually have to be in contact with the Roundup to kill it or does it just get killed by round up being in the ground?

My understanding is Roundup works through the leaves, not through the soil

If vinegar is going to work the strength or acidity has to be 30% or more with 2 cups of epson salt and 1/4 cup of dawn to a gallon. I guarantee this formula with the 30% acidity will fry weeds in about a half an hour on a 90 degree day. Vinegar will outperform roundup and its safer to use around pets and animals. The sharp smell of the vinegar will make any pet avoid the area till it subsides. Now how lonng it takes for anything to grow in that spot I'm unsure of and am tracking that as we speak.
