I didn't know if I was going to ike your choice of the background colour but I just love it! It worked really well with your other fabrics, just beautiful! 🥀❣
I like your leaf color choices--especially the gray-blue dot. And your background fabric looks nice, good choice. I made my leaf blocks using Edyta's sizes (well actually I cut my larger blocks 6" instead of 5-7/8") and I followed her directions by cutting the squares in half before sewing the 2 different colors back together. But I do prefer to make my HST's like you did. I'm wondering what size did you cut your large blocks before sewing your 2-at-a-time HSTs?
I cut the same size Edyta recommended and then used a scant quarter inch seam allowance. I had very little excess to trim when I squared up the block, but it was just enough to get everything looking neat and tidy! I'm liking the gray for the leaves so far. I remember looking at a bunch of flower seed packets earlier this year and a few of them described foliage as a "silvery". 😊
I was going to pick greens from my Edyta stash to go with my pink colour way but having seen your greyish blues I'm now thinking of searching for some grey , maybe one of my spotted fabrics from Zen chic. So glad you are doing this as I've enjoyed your previous ones.
Pink and green is classic! Did you see the different colorway mockups on the LBQ blog? One of the colorways looks like it will be just red and pinks. Lovely. I'm happy to be doing another series of LBQ Mystery Quilt videos! I look forward to it all year long!😊
I think my background is growing on me, though I'm a tiny bit nervous how it will look over all. Quick question: Do you starch your muslin? I've found that even with Best Press I can still have issues with stretching. Do you have any trouble with stretching? I love the classic/timeless look of muslin, but I always seem to mess it up.🥲
@@ThimbleStorm I do have some issues with stretching so I usually heavily starch it prior to cutting and then use Best Press when I needed during the piecing.
I had to google the ruler, I've never heard of it before. VERY cool. I'm going to be adding it to my wish list! I don't buy very many specialty rulers, but I could see myself using this one a lot.
@@ThimbleStorm I am a ruler/ gadget/ tool gal. The right tools for the job. That ruler is great because after cutting it off, you’ll never be off on your seam line unless you just aren’t paying attention.
