One thing that took me years to realise on this song - the opening, church-organ music is actually the tune of Wham's hit song Freedom. Blew my mind when I realised

It reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200 and stayed in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for 51 consecutive weeks, including 12 weeks at number one. This debut album alone contained four number one hits with "Faith", "Father Figure", "One More Try" and "Monkey". R.I.P., George.

This album was number one in America, 2 Christmas's in a row, the first white artist to top the black charts, his style and presentation paved the way for Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, and so many more artists. His influence in music history should not be downplayed, George was THE superstar of the late 80s, he outsold Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince in America in the late 80s, he was massive.

Yes, its a strand of pearls George added at the last minute to try and soften the look and kinda give a nod to him being gay. Faith was released 89-90.

Funny you should say Freddie Mercury. If you’ve never heard his tribute to Freddie at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, you absolutely need to hear it. As Brian May said, George came closest to the range at Freddie.

You should react to The Long and Winding Road by George. A concert for Linda McCartney I think..It’s AMAZING better than the original in my opinion!!!!❤️
