Bomani Jones gives us his recap of Week 2 in the NFL season by admitting it's too early to judge 2-0 or 0-2 teams. But he starts by revealing he would never root for the Chargers even after their 2-0 start and that Vikings fans are excited but they shouldn't be. Should we trust Sam Darnold even after his 2-0 start? On the other hand, Bomani states that we should definitely be excited about the Saints and their hot start, even thought he won't ever root for them. Then we get into the "Ruh Roh Zone," the teams that are in big trouble after just two weeks. The Ravens, Jets, Titans, Panthers and Jaguars have all fallen in this category and the quarterback play is a big reason why. Speaking of quarterback play, Bomani finally gives his thoughts on the recent Tua Tagovailoa concussion and what that injury says about his future in the league. Chargers fan here. Born and raised in Southern California. During my formative years, there was a particular season where Philip Rivers, LT, Antonio Gates went 14-2 and I fell in love with the team. Y'all probably know what happened in the playoffs. "Oh, they'll get em next year! This is just the beginning!" Coming up on 20 years since then of stress inducing football. Never getting over the hump, but never being completely ass. Just good enough to make you believe, and then break your heart. So ya maybe I don't love myself very much😂

To your point about Tua: Aaron Rodgers said recently that he was driven by a desire to "go out on his feet," and not having that injury be the last thing people remembered about him on the field. I suspect that could also be a factor for Tua - which would be understandable and even admirable, but would also carry a huge amount of risk going forward.

I don’t like to see young men hurt playing sports. There was a time I quit watching football because of the brutality. You are absolutely correct, people choose their own paths in life. As a parent this was toughest lesson for me to learn.

There was conversation around like Kuechly and Andrew luck. I think seeing both as well as others retire from concussions, and the increased sensitivity around the subject has made more people comfortable commenting on Tuas situation

Jahvid Best was retired by the league, real early, from concussions, if I remember correctly. Steve Young was older, but local media and fans were thinking about that final sack/missed block and Young stumbling off the field.

At the end of the day, Tua seems like he at that place Andrew Luck was to a certain degree. In order for Tua to be successful, he gotta play his way. And playing his way is gonna open up a lot opportunities to get really really hurt. Unless he can change the way, and find happiness in it, it’s lookn like a trick bag rn 🤷🏿‍♂️
