So I love this kind of video, where you get to see the athletes having fun and being silly... this is what draws me to the sport, the great people involved from the Bottom to the top!!!! thank you CrossFit
All eight of these athletes are awesome ambassadors for the sport. Beautiful athletes, amazing abilities, inspiring work ethics. This 50 year old police academy instructor is inspired more with every video. Thanks guys.
If they make a series about their life, train together or hang out I would watch it 24 / 7 . This is one of the best Crossfit videos ever ever , probably because Camille its on it hahaha
I just started crossfit.... and I love it. Only three days and I am so sore, it is good sore. I love working out all my body 5 days a week. Crossfit is challenging. I am in the armed force and I have done a lot of different workout, but nothing with the intensity as crossfit. I have a good coach that is watching me and teaching me to do the excercise properly. Don't hate if you haven't try it. Now, not every crossfit gym is the same, keep that in mind.
+Quentin Styger Well it's not intended to be the same exercise either. It's more about cardio, muscle coordination and overall body exercise than just building lats. It's easier than a regular pull-up but some ways harder at the same time. I just started doing crossfit recently and can do 15 normal pull-ups just fine but maybe like 1 or 2 kips max, because I'm not used to the movement. Crossfit overall is not like bodybuilding where you concentrate on isolating a muscle or certain muscle groups. Basically all the exercises aim for overall body and core development, if that makes sense.
Kipping pullups remind me of gymnast on the rings except they stop mid momentum. Not sure why they have this movement when it comes to workouts involving pullups.
+TzeiEm Bruh if you can do 15 normal pulls and 2 kips, something is wrong with your base physiology and you need to see a doctor. My 19 year old sister can do like 30.
Crossfit should be a competition unlike sports. Once in a lifetime world championship . Anyone has only one time to apply for it and that's it.If these guys need sport, join a discipline. Guys are making it their aim in life. I broke my this, and no I am in rehab. I did this and now I wanna come back.:)
7thjoker yeah. i love fit women, but there is usually a price. they have little energy for other things in life, especially crossfit girls. not all women are this way, but if she's training hard almost everyday, she wont have any energy for sex or anything else other than sleeping.
+Ryan O'Ceiglah Actually the hipsters of the fitness world are still bike riders, rock climbers, sky divers and those who are actually doing pretty cutting edge shit. Crossfitters are just crossfitters. Don't compliment them.
Since there's no sarcasm font I can't tell if this is a sincere question. If it is, then these are all relay events, the next person can't start their portion until the person before them finishes a rep or set and "tags" them in.
Richard Boudrie the only reason crossfit is popular is becuase its been made into a business! bodybuilding is life. you didnt see Arnold and Franco high fiving each other every time they passed a barbell haha
I'm not really sure what prompted that exact response, I was just telling the OP what was going on in case he was actually curious, if he was making a joke then I would tell him good one because it's pretty funny. I couldn't really care less about why or how CrossFit became popular. If it gets people active and they enjoy it, then good for them; if you prefer bodybuilding, awesome. If someone likes power lifting or strong man more, or even the person that just likes to run everyday (gasp!) It doesn't matter, whatever gets them off the couch, you do you and let them do them.
@@czarmk the CrossFit athletes are too interested in $$$. They won't do anything like this for less than $50k a piece. Also the humor of Josh Bridges and Jason Khalipa is so funny. Team Red had CLB but Team Black had 3 CrossFit champs in Froning, Khalipa and Briggs.
I like black team . For all you haters out there don't forget about pro football pro basketball pro baseball. A lot of those guys retire at 40 completely messed up from head to toe. Any sport were you have to be physically active has a chance of messing up your body. Even tennis and golf. In fact even you people who are "bodybuilders," who apparently know all the right "form," are going to have joint problems. These people are having fun and the fact is a lot of you know it alls would have a lot of trouble completing these types of routines let alone doing well at them. Stop hating, it is ugly, jealous, and embarrassing you are not better than everybody else.
***** I wouldn't have replied if I thought you weren't trying to be civilized. And as I said before crossfit is truly a sport, by definition, and I stand by this. And by now I would say it had, and has, plenty of recognition. As does bodybuilding with the IFBB, Olympias, Arnolds and other internationally recognized, paid, regulated events. Furthermore, I'm not a crossfitter, I just support people doing positive things. As far as a poor and negative attitude, you seem to display that. Immature jokes, which could be hurtful, about people's mothers, also, trying to condescend other people for what they love doing, and when there is nothing wrong with it.
JOKE'S ON YOU 1.these athletes can do pull ups 2. these athletes are doing all of their movements according to the regulations set, and even though you probably think they are stupid, most people aren't repeating forty to fifty in a set. 3. I'm sure there are plenty of NFL players that are too heavy (fat) to pull themselves up even once, and the majority that can, arent exceeding sets of 10 repetitions.
Jared Szczesny you must know some out of shape football players since they can barely to sets of 10. I dint think this is stupid...i get the point of all this. Im saying if your gonna do something do it properly. Its harder to do it in proper form, this is just cheating. Simple.
The whole video was just awesome!! Rogue red has definitely a funnier and warmer environment.. It was nice that rogue black let Dan stay even he's the opponent
+futball24 Yep. Rotator cuff, spine. You are better off doing MMA than kipping ups. If you want to do pull ups. Focus on the negative movement of the pull up.
Sam was making lower thigh contact on her snatches, can't say that I've ever seen that before. I wonder how much better she could be if she just spent a little time with a decent weightlifting coach.
They're called 'dying fish pull ups'. Sometimes also referred to as 'fish on lands' or 'salmons'. "Hey bro I'm gonna go to the gym and do some salmons."
Theres a big misconception with crossfit. CrossFit is NOT trying to achieve a LOOK. They don't do these movements to work certain muscles. Get your mind out of traditional globo gym training. Everything is done with a purpose to PERFORM better. CrossFit does weighted strict pull ups to build STRENGTH not a LOOK. The purpose of weighted pull ups is to build the strength to do more butterfly pull ups. If the task is do as many "pull ups" as you can, then they learn a new SKILL which allows them to do more in a row, while BUILDING STRENGTH in a STRICT way. This is CrossFit, not bodybuilding, it is not trying to achieve a look. Stop assuming that this is done trying to achieve that. Olympic lifters don't do those lifts to LOOK better. They do them to get better and those lifts.
Are they better? I'd put a Crossfitter up against well known bodybuilders (natural ones too) in a strict lifting test. I bet many Crossfitters will fail first because they did not practice strict form or ignored their core. What exactly does that stupid kipping move do again? If I made them hang down and do strict pullups, they'd be humbled and do far less. You probably have 2-3 exceptions of very strong Crossfitters who are famous and can do a lot in lifts. But I bet they supplement their regime with regular bodybuilding & isolated exercises as well. I still would not prefer Crossfit as my sole form of fitness. I do not think it automatically makes you better at marathons, sprints, sports, etc.
EnzoTheBaker Lets make these bodybuilders swim a lap in the pool then go out make pull ups, swim again back and forth for 10 reps. Lets make these bodybuilders run around a stadium, then get inside, do pull ups, do squats, push a log towards the other end of the stadium. I Bet they cant :)
@@copperlineconnectors2455 I was referring to your last statement. which was ''I do not think it automatically makes you better at marathons, sprints, sports, etc.'' Crossfit improves stamina and endurance. Those factors are very impactful in maybe all types of sports. So I believe it will automatically make people better at marathons, etc
They are all in extreme shape. But are also mostly on banned substances. Which doesn't matter or take anything away in my eyes. None of you trolls could do that regardless of what you were on. Hard work and a fit lifestyle topped with awesome genetics is what gets you to that level.
People that are complaining about the way they do pull ups. The definition of a pull up is to pull your body up to a bar. The goal is to get chin (or in this case chest to bar). The way you envision it is to build your lats; this type of pull up works your core, aerobic endurance and many stabilizers. There are no guidelines saying how you have to do it, nor specifications that say a "STRICT pull up", and this being a sport, they do it the most optimal way. If you complain about the pull ups they do, then also complain about how powerlifters bench with the arch in their back. It fits within the guidelines, and the athletes will do all they can to perform it in also the safest way. These are not dangerous for you as you guys put it if done correctly. Almost any workout can be defined "dangerous" if performed incorrectly, and these people have been practicing for a long time. So please, next time you disagree with something and decide to hate on something and put your full force into it, try to look at it from not a linear way of thinking.
tim lindner I get that but I would personaly prefer to be doing a standard pushup fast then when I cant do any more do them with an assist if I was wanting to go fast with chins. I find the benefit is allot better even when doing high volume and speed to do the movement as a standard form
+Southern Boulder Their only aim is to get their chest to the bar as many times as possible and, as far as I can tell, it doesn't matter how it is done. When actually training to improve performance/size/strength etc strict form is definitely the way to go, not kipping.
+Southern Boulder Nothing. It's some made up bullshit to trick stupid people into thinking they're exercising, and then taking vast amounts of money from them every month.
I enjoy crossfit and give kudos to their overall endurance. I'm curious about the pullup/muscleup thing they do though. As a former CO, I've seen many cons and excons crank out a massive amount of pullups, even Marines. The form just looks different. Is this method indigenous to CF?
TimberBlay Yes they do. Crossfit is cool but it has flaws such as high rep olympic lifting (which forces athletes to neglect proper form in order to complete the reps) and kipping chin ups which can cause shoulder problems down the road. It's good stuff but you're more than likely going to get injured.
@ Alex Hamilton, Thank you for the information. What I gleaned is that while I could use the sets/WOD of CF only do so with form and pacing and rest between. I have never subscribed to only 1 method of movement for martial arts so doing so with fitness would be hypocritical. I thank you once again for giving me the correct path. Good country to visit but don't live there. I can respect that.
There's no pausing at mid-thigh in the clean. Unless that's a new way of doing them. I'm new to cross-fit but not Olympic-lifting. So if somebody wants to explain why everyone is thigh-kicking on the clean , please explain.
I've seen a few cross fit videos, and I really don't know much about the sport at all. So let me ask, when they do pull-ups, why do they do that huge swinging motion? Is that just to increase the number of pull-ups they can do over traditional form because it's a competition to do the most? That's my best guess. Let me know.
Two things: Number one. The competition setting requires a modified form to get the most reps. A decent analogy would be the accentuated back arch and wide grip of the kind of bench press you would see at a powerlifting meet. When the only thing that matters is the weight or the number of reps, it makes sense to change up any variables you can to so you can perform the best in competition. Number two. The other purpose is to integrate the whole body into the movement, changing it from a strength exercise into a gymnastics-type movement with increased coordination and timing demands. Depending on the rep scheme, it can also be used to hit up the cardiovascular system. Some coaches will use kipping pullups as a teaching tool for explosive hip extension, etc. to get skill carryover to jumping or the Olympic lifts, since it doesn't always come naturally to all people. For these people, kipping pullups can help build that motor pattern. Is it a sufficient substitute for strict pullups for strength building? Hell no. A lot of internet people get confused about that, and assume that kipping is the only way Crossfitters do pullups. A smart coach won't even allow their athletes to kip until they have demonstrated sufficient strength with strict pullups because of the risk of injury. I'll never claim to know everything, but this is pretty much my understanding of it.
***** Agreed, and that will be the case for 99% of people. But people are complicated and someone without a previous athletic background to draw from might need that help in building a motor pattern. I'm sure its worked for someone at some point
Alright, I would like to politely ask.. Why is it that these guy's do pull-ups like that? I mean no offense but what is the difference between a straight/regular pull-up and the kind of pull-ups shown in this video?
+Casadorperfect I'm no way in hell an expert, but I mean isn't pretty obvious that they're using mommentum to do them ? basically way less effort. If someone could give me a reasonable explanation of why this would actually work then I'd be happy
+Casadorperfect I think it's pretty obvious what the difference is. The kip is used as an assistance to complete the movement, because the GOAL is to move your body from hanging to raised, and the assistance makes it more efficient / easier. It's not about building a big back or feeling the burn or isolating the lats. It's purely about moving from A to B.
so is there any valuable point that can be appreciated from this exercise I mean there's more very certain effort but wouldn't be more challenging to do them correctly even if thery are like 10-20 in the lapse. Not trying to be an ass or anyting
to me this kind of activities are more awesome when they do it correctly since it's more easy to appreciate the challange, let's say it would be like making a difference between a Muay thai or whatever art match and WWE, if it's for the fun and laugh that's completely cool to me, but maybe if I would like to see results in my training if I decide to add these kind of exercises then I'd like to know why would bring me more benefits than doing it the classical way, and all ears to hear a concrete explanation in that sense.
I can't speak about the forms but the workouts are killer. Plus every seems so down to earth, fun to watch. Camille is funny to me. The pull ups do kill me to watch and it could be because I feel like it's cheating to sling into a pull but then again I have never tried it either.
