This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the week ahead 22/04/2024
It’s going to be rather cool this week, especially for the middle of spring, and with that some frost is likely overnight as well as a bit of hill snow for Scotland too. Showers are most likely in the east until Friday when they will be more widespread ahead of a potentially unsettled weekend. Bringing you this weekend’s weather forecast is Alex Burkill.

I have learnt to understand the term 'sunny spells' translates to maybe 10 minutes in total every couple of hours when we get the random minute or so of breaks in the cloud.

I want a lifestyle where I am in the UK only between June - Setptember, and working from a sunny country the rest of the year, with occasional visits, including Christmas. 😅

I seem to remember a similar set-up a year ago. We on the east coast were plagued by freezing breezes from the north sea for weeks at a time, then!

The weather we have today was not forecast a week ago so what’s the point of this forecast - it’s likely to be wrong as well. Unfortunately we don’t get accurate forecasts - all we get are nowcasts.

I listen to the met office forecast, and there is almost always uncertainty, one model against another. Basically all we want is the forecast , and we are not getting it....

The 10 day forecast only seems to offer about 20% accuracy. Far too low to use it for outdoor event planning. To be fair it maybe because the current weather pattern is unusual? Looks like last year when we had to wait until 22 May for a hot ( 22 degree) Sunny day with light winds. This year to date has been a very windy ( as well as wet) one!

It's a pretty crazy we don't know where that's Low pressure is going down by Spain Friday... Can it really come back and get us at the weekend....😮. Can we get more predictive analysis on that please. Really interesting 🤔

I live and work in the north east of scotland and not once in the past 10 months of watching your forecasts have you guys got the forecast right, totally undertsand its a forcast and you cant 100 % predict the weather. We have had approx 1 day of sun every 2-3 weeks on average but you guys say the weather is pretty standard for this time of year......I disagree!!!! Can someone from the met office please explain in simple terms why the weather has been so bad and why the amount of rain and wind we expericence on a daily accurance up here is mad??? Is this because of the El neno and what is causing the jet stream to move more quickly or is there more too it? just trying to get an understanding. Thanks.
