Tia I'm in nursing school as well. I think you should change or adapt your study habits. Since starting school in August I've changed my study habits with each class. Each teacher teaches different and test different so I adapt and change my study habits based on that. Don't be discouraged my queen. You got this. God gave you a second chance for a reason. You will get through this!

Remember to do a lot of practice questions weekly related to your current topic and read the rationales for each. I don’t know if you have the Saunders NCLEX book but that’s a good resource, also quizlet, plus youtubers registered nurse RN, simple nursing, level up RN. Don’t dwell on that test anymore, move on to the next with a clear mind. You don’t want the anxiety to sabotage your next test performance. Don’t lose that faith in yourself. ❤️❤️❤️

I do appreciate you being real. There’s a few other nursing channels on here who are top of the class, etc and while it’s nice seeing someone do well, I can relate to a real regular person struggling better.

i actually failed one of my nursing class last semester and barely passed the rest but this semester i’m doing so much better when i switched my study plan in class i just listen to the teacher talk they record the lecture so when i come home i listen to it sped up and write notes on the powerpoint after wards i’ll actively study and make flash cards and whenever i have down time i’ll study the flash cards and i did SO much better also try to watch a lot of nclex test question videos my teacher gave us one that LITERALLY changed my testing strategy and it made my test score go up by 10 % afterwards good luck and you got this girl ❤️

One thing I’ve found to be helpful was definitely typing my study guides rather than writing. I would take notes by hand to lectures but prior to the exams I would summarize all of my hand written notes by typing them on a word doc. I was hesitant at first to do some because I thought hand writing made me remember the material better - but with nursing school moving so fast where we had exams every other week, I learned to prioritize time. Try typing all your hand written notes before the exams!

Girl! I failed my first test by 4 points and I’m NOT use to that. I took a day off. And immediately started studying my behind off using Saunders and Level up RN. AND PRACTICE QUESTIONS. Try using nurse labs and quizlet for practice questions. I took my second test yesterday and was able to get an 80. You got this. We got this 💜 cardiovascular is my next test and I’m terrified but we got it.

Don't worry about failing a test!! use it as fuel to do better. I failed a test as well in nursing school due to being at a bad place in life/mentally... and I am still a nurse now. A test doesn't define your intelligence. YOU GOT THIS!

Tia, the fact that you want to succeed means that you have the heart to want the best for yourself and your patients. That is the true heart of a nurse! Don’t get discouraged, all of this is part of your testimony! When you become a nurse, you’ll be able to have a soft spot for students who are feeling like you are. Don’t dwell on those emotions, use them as fuel to get back in there and prove all those thoughts wrong. You got this!

Girl you got this! Med Surg 2 was a struggle for me as well! I was failing the class up until I took the final and by the grace of God, I passed the final and ended up passing the class! Just reevaluate your study habits, get with study groups and feed off each other’s knowledge on the topic. And the Saunder’s book helped me test my knowledge on the topics. Nursing school is a beast girl but just keep pushing yourself! I thought I wasn’t gonna make it but here I am 3, almost 4 years as an RN and I’m so happy I kept pushing through and not giving up, even though I wanted to so bad. Keep going sis, you got this!✨✨

Hey Tia! I'm in nursing school as well. Let me just say that all of your feelings are valid and I've definitely had some of those similar feelings. Med surg is hard period but you're going to do great! Something that helped me was using my ATI books my school provided since all the information is condensed and then it's practice questions after the reading. Also, registered nurse RN is a very good resource as well. Don't dwell you're going to be a wonderful nurse ❤️

Hi Tia! I’m in the final semester of my program and I struggled a lot with Medsurg too! Don’t be discouraged. A few of the other ladies mentioned changing study habits and I think that’s a great place to start. If you can get your hands on resources that practice NCLEX style questions, it’s helpful. I utilize Registered Nurse RN’s RU-vid channel and website a lot for such practice. NCLEX High Yield is another good resource here on RU-vid. A good tip to remember with medsurg is that you have to understand the concept and clinical manifestations of the disease. If you understand the disease process in that manner then answering NCLEX questions are a little easier. Memorization is not the trick with acute nursing/medsurg. I hope this helps! Girl you got this ! On my last test I made a 68 and I'm trying to come back on the next one with an 88. But definitely switch it and add practice questions. They definitely helped me. As well as Picmonic and RU-vid ! Also, if you can find a tutor definitely get one. I got one first term and I went from an 80 to a 90 on the last test! Please be encouraged! YOU WILL GRADUATE 👩🏾‍🎓💕🤎

Hey Girl! Have you tried creating flash cards to practice over and over. Also, my favourite way to study the body system is to print colouring pages, each section I colour, label and then list the importances of the system, once I do that I create cue cards off that body system. You can do this for other subjects as well!

On my last semester of nursing school.. what helps is to type up what your professor lectures about as well as record lecture.. relisten to lecture to see if you missed anything and anything you don’t understand you refer to the book

My advice to you is to focus on nursing implications around the patho if that makes sense so you’re not spending all your time trying to know everything cause let’s be honest in nursing school they do not give us enough time for these concepts 🙄 wishing you the best of luck 💗

Girl we just did the cardiovascular system too! What helps me study is to focus on the main points and I always write them out. Then I just try to talk about them out loud even if I’m just speaking to the wall, saying it and trying to act like you’re teaching it to someone else! Good luck with school! ❤️🩺

Don’t be discouraged, I failed med surg II by 1 point. Girl switch up your studying habits, use simple nursing and do practice questions every day. You got this boo! I currently have an A now and have passed.

Tia, try to do more practice questions on the topics because they mainly focus on the assessment and interventions needing for the patients and what is concerning/worsening symptoms. Do you use Hesi/ATI for exams? if anything my best help throughout nursing school was practice questions because the rationales are so helpful and you learn how to answer the questions more.

Hello I was wonder are you doing practice questions? I'm not sure if your school provides ati but practice questions will take you a long way. Sometimes it's not the material but more so learning how to apply it to the scenario question. Uworld is also amazing you do not have to wait until it's time for your nclex to order it.
