Harrison Donaldson, you know, I've thumbed through few history books for middle school kids, and that's pretty much how they make most of America's rich history in chattel slavery look like to kids today. It's even worse the way the gloss over the mere mention of Native Americans, let alone their role of the history of our great nation. You know, I've never not believed, as a nation, that we can't grow past sins, but clearly ignorance, willful or otherwise, won't work. I understanding true things helps you understand new things. In the backdrop, overarching us all, we are all more than just citizens. WE ARE FAMILY. CEOofFRESH1, I was referring to school books from The Michigan/Minnesota area. Since I have advanced degrees, I take the time to help my younger cousins with their homework and I've had my jaw dropped so hard by the lack of useful information about these periods for our children to reflect upon. For example, that region has a RICH history of Native American lore. Some of their history goes so far back, but has a lot to help children understand why things happened the way they did. Even today, Drumpf is about to literally give away millions of acres of public lands, a lot of it sacred to local tribes, yet we don't even mention it in the news. It's NOWHERE. Not even in the region in which it's taking place!! We treat this people like a footnote. Children of today should know why that's bad. They should be taught pieces of those languages, so that they are not lost. To most of you, I'm talking about some group of people WAAAAY over there that has nothing to do with you, or our history as a nation. Meanwhile, they know as I do, WE ARE ALL FAMILY! The balance of respect between our separate parts has been broken (and left on repaired) for all the wrong reasons. If you think not talking about what happened to the protester at DAPL wasn't a big deal, it only strengthen my point. In our attempt to act like everything is ok, it's wrong to not speak of the mistakes we STILL make in relating to our my different, but important, parts. Without Native Americans our government would look much different. As we formed it, we sought the advice of Native American Chieftains in ways to maintain peace between there many factions (states). They had functioning governments long before there was a United States.

While I admit not knowing the roles and principles of Native American governance is a bit obscure, it is no less true for the telling, and my point is the Greeks and Romans were not the only ones to run government in this way. Native politics were equally intricate. Possibly, not even the first. More of Native American tradition is being lost, and it feels wrong, because, as I said before, WE ARE ALL FAMILY!! The how is not important, only the truth of it. We have deeper wells history and knowledge. In our society, different groups are becoming more isolated. This isn't good for either groups. Native American tribes, even from each other, were often very different not just in customs, but in appearances, as well. Yet, they managed to forge understandings of mutual importance with one another, and managed peace that lasted for CENTURIES!! Most of it was done through politics. They elected representatives to speak on behalf of the Chief, or the whole tribe. Please, study these things. The "one man, one vote", principle was HARDLY Roman or Greek in origin. That is the major difference in the Native American way of governance, but always reach consensus. This idea was behind the creation of the Electoral College, and why it is enshrined in the Constitution never to be removed.

Mentally ill is out. We use the term mental health challenges. We arnt sick, we are different and need to learn to support ourselves to overcome our challenges. Being hypersensitive, can be a gift. A manic person who is able to focus that energy is far more productive then a normal person, we just need to know how to focus that energy and prepare for the crash of depression because what goes up will eventually go down. I plan my depression and set boundaries.. if I have 2 days off. I'm gonna spend one in bed only moving to pee, and get food delivered. Next day I'll shower and clean up. Balance is key
