Best part of Pete's appearances on Weekend Update is chemistry between him and Colin. Colin's mom was an NYFD doctor and knew Pete's dad.

There is a video on RU-vid of drug addicts on Staten Island throwing bleach on each other. And policemen are standing there watching the whole thing laughing. You can't really blame Pete for his comments, lol.

I think the reason Lorne Michaels keeps Pete on the show, is that he is relatable to the younger viewers who now watch it. I was a little kid and my parents would allow me to stay up and watch the original cast. Pete has mental health issues, allot of us do. I deal with PTSD every damn day. My 20+ years in the Marine Corps, the injuries, the death of team members, and the killing, stays with you. Pete lays it out there, in front of everyone, never blinks, he takes it. He's funny, talented, and he has my respect.

You can tell when the people in the bit are actually funny. Genuine laughter is so distinctive

God, Pete is insanely funny!!! "you represent what they could be.... and I represent what they are" Holy shit, Pete or whoever wrote this bit (maybe Colin Jost) knows how to write comedy. But seriously you gotta give Pete credit for his delivery, that delivery on Weekend Update makes the entire skit work. I know that Pete doesnt do impressions, hence you rarely see him in any of the SNL skits, but here's the thing--- Pete is naturally funny as himself. How about you let Pete be Pete and have segments of a show about Pete being funny and interesting. The more they push Pete off as a background character the less funny the show becomes.
