This weeks terrain is inspired by the Scottish Highlands, I also added a road to the terrain but I still need to refine that technique. I created both the terrain and animation with Quadspinner's Gaea
I used a mask node to select one half of the landscape, blurred it and selected a small strip with the height node. Then I used that strip as a mask to blur and flatten the landscape.
Hi,Wernaert I really like the terrain you made. I've been learning GAEA for about a month now, and I've only gotten to know the program through the official tutorials. Have you considered putting out some Breakdown or tutorials to talk about some of the things you've learned about making terrain? Or can you recommend some tutorials that you found extremely helpful? Also I would like to know how to add a highway to an already made terrain!
Thank you! I can really recommend this tutorial series from Klaus ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H-vTeYYHJPM.html I might make a few tutorials after the release of Gaea 2. I made the shape of this road by first painting a mask over about half of the landscape and then I used the height node to detect the edge. (This way the line has a consistent width) Then I used that line as a mask to smooth the terrain.
