Weekly Trader Joe’s Taste Test for July 2024 

Jicama has the texture of an uncooked potato and slight apple and pear flavor. Very healthy.

I put the mango jicama salad on fish tacos.

I love that the peanuts are separate in the jicama salad.

Jicama is my favorite! I get the sticks at Trader Joe’s and put the chili lime seasoning (or Tajin) on it. It’s a veggie

Jicama has earthy brown scaly peel. Resembles big sweet potato, very similar texture. It's hood shredded in a homemade Asian slaw like salad.

I sometimes put chicken or pork loin in the crockpot and toss different jelly, spreads, preserves in. Occasionally will add little of whatever fruit was in the jelly. Good mix is hot pepper cranberry preserve with either chix/pork add a few cranberries, sliced apple last hr. Just be cause to tilt the lid a bit towards end of cooking to reduce the condensation from turning to excess liquid. That takes away the preserve flavor.

Years ago Trader Joe's sold a jicama slaw that was good served on top of ready to heat and serve BBQ pulled pork in a tortilla.

When I got the lemon cake they had like the carrot cake one it was SOOO dry. I love carrot cake but I have trust issues with those cakes now 😂

Jicama is crunchy too

Just got back from Trader Joe’s a little while ago. I don’t get to go off because it’s not close by but I did pick up that carrot cake and I’m glad that I did. The store was sold out of almost everything. It was so crowded and I got there on the late side, but I was able to get the carrot cake.

I will try that carrot cake. I just bought the peach and raspberry crumble for the second time because that was so good. Carrot cake is next on my list.

I have this and I too hate peanuts in salads. I think this is like a salad. I don’t know. Mine was delicious but had no peanuts.

Forgot, jicama fries are really good. Use in place of potato, make the same way.

Does the carrot cake have nuts and/or raisins in it?
