Hey Mike, this is Chris, the viewer from Dallas! I actually just hit 8 months sobriety (and 32 books read in that time) the day after we met. I really meant what I said. Thank you.
Hey man! Thank you so much for the kind words. It really made my weekend. I appreciate you and am so happy to have had a portion in helping on the road to sobriety. keep up the great work!
The feelings you felt meeting the readers/viewers... I understand that. Hearing it in person feels truly powerful and rewarding. When I was at Worldcon last month, hearing people saying how my channel and reviews changed their lives for the better is surreal. It's a good reminder that what we're doing has the power to bring positive impact. Keep it up, Mike! One day, I'll meet you, too! :)
Mike, I almost teared up from your kind words man. Thanks so much for coming on the channel - I had such a blast catching up with you! Have a fantastic rest of the weekend my friend!
Dude, Mike your content brings in everyone, but your positivity and realness makes us stick around. I love that your content is like sitting and talking with a friend in a bar. You're doing awesome man. Don't ever think otherwise! Now more Multiverse content!!😅
Mike, I've been watching your videos for some time now, and just wanted to say how much your videos are helping me get excited to read again (after a bit of a slump). You're a top bloke, keep up the awesome work! Cheers, from Melbourne, Australia.
I agree with the comments. Thank you so much for the kind words. It was great to finally meet you and Christopher in the Woodlands. I had such a great time!
So wholesome to see you realise how you have impacted so many people's lives. I can definitely add my voice to that, you are one of my comfort booktubers to go to when my mental health gets really bad, so I can't thank you enough for dragging me through the dark times. And for all the great book recs of course, that's also important haha. Keep up the great work :)
Hi Mike. I'm so happy to have found your channel after looking up Red Rising videos. You've introduced me to so many books/authors including Ruocchio and Cahill. While I'm not surprised that you had fans, I'm pleased to hear that they found you and showed their appreciation in person. Thank you for doing what you do.
I’m glad you got to see how your channel is a bright spot for many people. I think sometimes the negative Nancy’s drown out the good. I just want to add that for me your videos have been a big help dealing with life with a newborn and no sleep. 😂 And your book recs have become some of my favorites of all time.
Hi Mike. That is so cool. You deserve the attention, for you do a great job. I also wanted to let you know, that this past Friday night, I finished reading while listening to Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. It was sooo good. The humor and story and the characters were great. Also, last night, I started listening to Journey to Star Wars Lost Stars by Claudia Gray. I am really enjoying it so far.
So cool that you got to have that great experience in Dallas! How very cool. I met Ruocchio here in Austin yesterday - he seemed like a very nice and genuine guy. Calling Theo's beard peak Riker cracked me up! On to some NFL today!
Thanks for clearing that up about the conversation with Ryan and Christopher, I was one of those people who was getting annoyed during that video (I didn't comment though for what its worth 😄). Some people just like talking more than others, totally understandable. Also enjoyed your video with Theo at RekindledReader, loved to get more info on that finance job you're always talking about.
Mike, I'm so happy for you!! I'm excited for the videos with them, I'll be sitting down to watch them soon! I'm glad you had a great time and are seeing the reach you truly have! I owe practically my entire library and TBR list to you!
Currently reading Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm loving the book. It reads like a murder mystery so anyone who's into those might like it. It's a fascinating story about that time period and the beginnings of the F.B.I. Enjoyed watching the Mike, Ryan, Christopher video. We could call you The Three Musketeers.😊
Ordinary Grace was so good, I also loved This Tender Land. What a beautiful moment. I felt a bit choked up too hearing you share that. I think Booktubers can have a huge positive impact on people by getting them to be enthused about reading or just spend some time listening to someone discuss bookish stuff - can personally attest to that. I'm very happy Rekindled Reader (Theo) is back. Have got your chat saved in my to-watch list for the weekend. Happy reading 🙏🏽🌷
It was really cool to meet the 3 of you at B&N in Southlake and I enjoyed the convo that went up on your channel as well. Looked like you guys had a great time!
Hey Man, U You can tell a good person when u come across em. You deserve the recognition. Btw you got me reading Stephen king and bout to finish my first book. Loving it.
Sounds like such an amazing experience with Ryan, Christopher, ans all the fans of both them and your channel. Wish i lived closer and could have gone!
Finishing up King in Cobwebs but dug out my dad's 1961 copy of Liebowitz that I have been meaning to read for some time. Haven't read a book under 300 pages in some time.
I finally after 14 months got around to starting Valor, and after being incredibly mixed on Malice, I'm absolutely adoring it. In 3 days I read like 320 pages. I never read that many pages of anything that quickly. That's been my main reading project recently.
Sounds like an awesome experience getting to meet all those people. I do also just want to say my bold prediction of a 17-0 Steelers team is still alive.
Sounds like an excellent week. I nearly teared up with your story. Of course, being a man, I sucked that teardrop back into my eyeball. 😂 Last week, I started Tony Hillerman’s, The Blessing Way. I just finished watching season 1 of Dark Winds. I wanted to read the books. I read The Dark Wind way back in 1990, for school in the 8th grade. We watched the made for tv movie after reading it. So of course I’m going to watch that movie again and check out Coyote Waits and the Skinwalkers series after. In non book related news, I finished the bottom section on Lego Barad-dur. I’m working on the second level. I also found the IT Clown 6” figure at Walmart last Saturday. From the original miniseries. They have a pretty good section of horror collectibles.
Ordinary Grace was fantastic. Read it in two days this week. Did figure it out pretty quickly, but still really enjoyed it and plan on reading more of his work.
I wasn't planning on reading "Ordinary Grace", but I'm glad that I did. It was a really wonderful book. I wasn't expecting to get a little emotional. Maybe it's the dad in me.
I agree with the beginning of Grady’s book but it starts heating up around the 40 percent mark. This is the 3rd book of his I’ve read and I think it’s his smoothest writing.
Going to have to pick up one of those signed Bound & The Broken copies - any chance any of them are signed by you as well Mike? Wish I could have been there in person, looked like a wonderful time ❤
This week I learned it was probably a mistake to be doing cosmere (starting stormlight this month), first law trilogy, and Malazan all at the same time. Too much fantasy 😅
I’d go to a booktube convention! Houston is a good location actually…. I think it’s because of the large international airport but flights are dirt cheap to Houston from DIA in Denver
I have to say I actually agree with you on the Taylor swift comment because I love Taylor swift's music But the only time they really need to show her at a chiefs game is if The chiefs score touched down That's it
I read Ender's Shadow. Nowhere near as good as Game, but it was still pretty good. I'm probably going to read Time After Time by Karl Alexander next. This is where Jack the Ripper goes forward in time and it's up to H.G. Wells to stop him
🎉🎉🎉 Football is back!!! May your team do well, but not as well as mine (Chiefs) this season! 👍😃 I am not going to lie, the Texans and CJS scare me a little bit... I have been a subscriber from the beginning and truly appreciate your journey with books! I remember when Steven King was your main point of reference 😊. Please, know that you are cherished and may you never burn out and keep going! 👍❤
Lots are asking me if I think the Texans can challenge the Chiefs and I'm like they have to prove they can beat Baltimore before I'm even mentioning the Chiefs ha ha
Keep up the great book reviews mike. Hopefully you get to karl edward wagner kane series. Excellent fantasy. Darkness weaves is a great book. Wagner also write horror novels right up your alley. Have a great day. Go 49ers
You're not that bad dude, my dad let me see robin hood prince of theives when i was like 6 years old and in 7th grade he let me see saving private ryan.
Deshaun Watson contract is the worst contract in the history of the NFL. He is completely broken and I honestly don't think he cares. Browns massively F'd themselves lol
