I can relate to personalizing my plant babies. LOL. Mine ID as he. "I am slowly dieing; please help." Yes, they show what they need if we pay attention and learn what symptoms mean what problems. Common signals: Dried tips of leaves = underwatering. Center of plant or roots falling apart = over watering. Generally, when soaking a pot as a watering method, limit the soak to 30 minutes. Most plants don't like extremes from dry to wet.

When my ficus drops it's leaves, mostly in the fall/winter, it means she wants more water. This year I give it, and almost no leave drop. Yes, I figured it out! She grows in Vulcastrat. This year I'm going to prune her, she gets too wide.

I’m so curious, what happened to the really sad on with the plaited trunks that was protesting after being repotted? Did it rally?

Tip: Turn your Ficus Benjamina 90 degrees every two weeks to get simetrical growth.

I've never been lucky with these, I think my home isn't suitable. They are really beautiful plants so I'm jealous if you grow them. Maybe they respond to growlights if you have low light? Did you paint the little picture behind you? It's really sweet. Thanks for the tips but I might have to accept they hate me! 💚

Don't give up. Right plant for right environment. Yes grow lights work well. They have a special kind of bulb. Hydroponics are easier to grow indoors. No guessing on watering times. And no chance to over water when using the right aggregate. Go to a hydroponics specialty store. The staff are typically very knowledgeable.

my university has a giant hall where it splits our building (it’s a small side campus lol) and in our floor are places where you can put plants (like trees on a sidewalk) and they have these 4 feet tall beautiful weeping figs, BUT instead of pruning them, they just replace them after like 2-3 years :0 because they get “too bushy” next time they get rid of them i’ll just take on of the rejects home with me :))
@Macksimize100
@Macksimize100 3 года назад
Wowww so typical of them to just replace these glorious things lol - definitely snag one if you can! It’s hard to find really healthy tall figs like that

I have definitely been over. Watering mine leave dropped tons. I was killing mine I think. Thanks for your information. I’m trying here. I moved mine outside in Indiana See if that helps. It was across from west bright light window. I’m failing her ….. it’s dying….. 😢

@Macksimize100
@Macksimize100 3 года назад
Glad you liked the vid! I’ve had gnats in other plants for sure. The best treatment I’ve seen the quickest results with is diluting some hydrogen peroxide with water and soaking the soil with this treatment every week until they disappear! I have a video about this as well :) you can also try replacing the top inch of soil with fresh soil, since a lot of gnat eggs are laid within the top inch.

My weeping fig has pearl like growth on the under side of some of the leaves. I know this isn't good but don't know what to do for it. I've used an alcohol soaked Q-tip to remove them. Any other suggestions? The tree otherwise looks pretty good
@Macksimize100
@Macksimize100 2 года назад
Oh yes I think swabbing with alcohol is the right move. can also try Hydrogen peroxide, that kills pests on contact as well! Try to be consistent and stay on top of it, should take care of the issue!

Love your Benjamina. Mine is a baby still but it need to go into a bigger pot. Roots are coming out the bottom but I am terrified to repot. 😰. Anyway... I do have a plant that is my worst at the moment. It’s a sh1t to be honest. Freakin asparagus fern! 🙄. It’s liking what I do then it doesn’t. I can’t figure it out.
@Macksimize100
@Macksimize100 3 года назад
Thank you!! Ahhh yes, if you repot the Ficus I would do it without touching the roots or old dirt at all and just drop it in a bigger pot - I think it freaks out when you mess with the roots. And for the fern maybe try putting it in stronger direct sun if it isn't already?? They respond really well to direct sun!

You are easy to listen to. I, like you love my weeping fig. I like that you talk with your eyes and your hands as well as your mouth😂, you are very engaging as if I was there having a conversation with you. But enough about you 😆. Why do you think my “Benjamina” has a few leaves with a partial dryness. What is is telling me? It is currently in my front porch facing East, it has been there for the last two years and is thriving except for those recent few leaves.... please help!
@Macksimize100
@Macksimize100 3 года назад
Haha thank you so much! 🙌 but that’s interesting about your Ficus - have you been rotating it every week or so? Maybe it needs more even lighting. It might be getting a little sun burned in one particular spot? If it’s just one part of the plant and it’s outside that might be the culprit!
@RkyMtnCheyenne

I have 2 babies. Probably 8” tall. This is their first winter and dropped almost all leaves. Will it come back in the spring, or is it done?
@Macksimize100
@Macksimize100 2 года назад
They should bounce back! They might have been caught in a cold draft? This plant HATES cold drafts so I would put them in a spot that has minimal air flow.

Yes generally if they’re in the same family they require the same care! Occasionally some varieties are tougher than others so just keep an eye on them until you get everything just right
