'The Prince Who Wanted Everything' absolutey has meaning. It's about how the music industry commodifies and uses up artists, with Prince, the artist, as sort of an example. The dark underbelly of the music industry is the record's thematic throughline, but it's especially on the nose here.
Hi, I noticed you put Make Believe in a lower tier even though it has Haunt You Every Day. Have you really given it a good listen? It's a real underappreciated gem and should be taken more seriously in the Weezer canon. I am definitely not being threatened to make this comment because of how my tier list went.
hi Steve, maybe I should go back and listen to the all time classic Weezer track "Haunt You Every Day," maybe it would convince me to rate Make Believe higher lol But in all seriousness, its super cool that you ranked all of Weezer's discography (barring some singles and SZNZs tracks). Collab soon?
Dude, you reflect all of my thoughts exactly. Little note, you glanced over "Dark Enough to See the Stars", when that is one of my favorite Weezer songs of all time.
Hey, like your review. Am just getting into Weezer and really enjoying finally discovering them. I'm in my 60s and when I was younger,( oh no, here she goes) if an album had 2 good songs you were supposed to be happy. So if there are 4 good tracks, I want to hear it. You can't always hit a homerun
S: Blue, Pinkerton A: White, Autumn, OK Human B: Make Belive, EWBAITE, Summer C: Hurley (Low B), Red, Green,Van Weezer, Winter, Maladroit, Pacific Daydream, D: Black, Spring, Raditude (Low C because put me back together) F: Teal
I think No One Else is fine considering how its meant to be satirical. The World Has Turned and Left Me Here is meant to be a follow up song showing how the misogyny in the No One Else resulted in the dude getting dumped.
S: Blue, Pinkerton, White A: Maladroit, Green, OK Human B: SZNZ Autumn, EWBAITE C: Van Weezer, DTFM, Make Believe, Red, Pacific Daydream D: 3 SZNZs, Hurley F: Raditute, , Black
I feel like every Weezer fan has a strong like/ dislike for various albums from their entire discography. However, that is the beauty behind what makes this band’s success and longevity. Personally, I completely disagree with, but respect your opinion.
@@MasterChiefFLYimo Raditude has a few decent songs here and there But from the Black Album, the only one i can find enjoyable is high as a kite (also zombie bastards being a guilty pleasure)
I bet it was daunting to create maybe your best album at the beginning when your so young and so new to fame. Probably why he went back to school right after. Rivers, lots of adversity when he was a kid (communes were often abusive to little kids, and being bullied later). He's pretty amazing that he got through, first his childhood, then, the music world (too many drugs and exploiters),fame, tons of criticism. And they kept the band together. Pretty, pretty amazing even. He's a true artist.
The good life is the first Weezer song I've ever heard and it is definitely up there with my favorite Weezer songs of all time. Kinda sucks nobody talks about it though
S- Blue, Pinkerton, Green, Spring A- Van Weezer, Winter, Make Believe, Autumn B- Death to False Metal, OK Human, Red, Everything Will Be Alright in the End, Summer C- Maladroit, Raditude, Hurley D- Teal, White, Black, Pacific Daydream
Spring at S, and White at D? What?Van Weezer above OK Human? EWBAITE at B while Green is at S? Red at B, am I the only one who hates Red? And Make Believe at A? I disagree
@@SpaceHeggo @Space Hedghog That's alright to each their own. Spring encompasses old-school Weezer with memorable melodies. Never cared for White album co-writers involvement. VW is more solid overall, has more energy and guitars which I prefer over the mellow OKH. EWBAITE is decent. Green is all killer no filler produced by Ric Ocasek straight-up power pop classic. MB another fantastic album that I often come back to.
S: Blue, Pink, Maladroit A: EWBAITE, White, Wntr B: Green, Ok Human, Red (barely) C: Van Weezer, Death to False Metal D: The other 3 seasons albums, pacific daydream, Make Believe F: Raditute, Hurley, Black I will die by this list
@@Thepuffymonkey I didn't wanna create an E tier. It's definitely worse but honestly they both are pretty unredeemable. I was very close to making an F- tier for black though
I started out hating Black but then it grew on me when I realized it is their only rocking album that doesn't have any typical chugging rock songs on it. That makes it more fun to listen to than the samey albums (Green, PD, OKH.) Also, I love Raditude, and Can't Stop Partying is a brilliant experiment to see if minor chords can change the vibe of club lyrics.
I think it's an enjoyable track, but it feels so out of place to me. I think the general themes of the album revolve around being anxious in the modern world and Dead Roses doesn't seem to fit with that narrative. That's my biggest complaint, other than that, I think it is very enjoyable.
I understand some Pinkerton songs being too weird when being looked at individually, but when you look at it as a journey it's seriously not so bad. First three songs establishes his experiences with relationships so far, Why Bother shows the fear of trying again that comes from those experiences, and Across The Sea is the fall into depravity to cope with that. All of this is quickly mended with The Good Life where Rivers decides to get his shit together, so he gives dating a try again in El Scorcho, fails embarassingly in Pink Triangle, finds someone in Falling For You, and fucks up miserably in Butterfly leaving him in shambles. Across The Sea is gross yeah but it's kind of a non-issue when it's supposed to be the "when you hit rock bottom you can only go up" lesson in the album when it transitions into The Good Life.
S - Blue, White A - Pinkerton, EWBAITE, OK Human B - Maladroit, Winter C - Red, Pacific Daydream, Van Weezer, Autumn D - Green, Make Believe, Hurley, Spring F - Raditude, Black, Summer
Green is the most underrated Weezer album. It’s a classic. Even you have it too low here as well. I’ll never understand why it’s not regarded as a top tier album.
@@betterthanflapjacksHe has it below the Red album and Everything Will be alright, it’s way better than them just to name two. Even Hurley is better than them
It's way too repetitive, making it really boring to sit through. Don't get me wrong, Island in the Sun and Hash Pipe are absolute bangers and way better than most of the stuff they put out nowadays, but the rest isn't as great. Hell, even the b-sides are way better than most of the stuff on the actual album!
S- Blue, Summer, Van Weezer A-Green, Pinkerton, Raditude, Maladroit B- Pacific Daydream, Death to False Metal, Red, Everything Will Be Alright C- Hurley, WInter, Autumn, Ok Human, Teal, White D- Make Believe, Spring, Black,
All the Black Album haters and (Raditude haters for that matter) can suck it. Look, let’s all agree that Blue is one of the best albums of all time. I truly appreciate Pinkerton. I think OK Human and White were friggen brilliant. But I also love that Black, Raditude and PDD exist. They each have their own uniquely Weezer vibe and there are some amazing songs on all of them. It’s so annoying that a few snobby critics decide these albums are bad and then the herd mentality takes over. Stop being sheep.
I appreciate hearing your perspective! I will always defend PDD and the melodies on Raditude, but I personally can't stand Black. And that's alright man, I'm glad you enjoy something that I have a hard time listening to, more power to you.
S- EWBAITE, Pinkerton, White A- Hurley, Blue, Black (I know I’m wrong just let me have this), OK Human, and a bit lower is Van Weezer B- Maladroit, Summer, Pacific Daydream, Winter, Green, Autumn, and Teal C-Spring, Death to False Metal D-Make Believe E-Raditude F-Red
@@idoblogs For a long time I only liked "High as a Kite" on the Black album. Now I really enjoy the whole thing. Weezer has a strange way of growing on me.I didn't discover any Weezer until 2020! during a deep dive into the solo records of Ric Ocasek. I've always been a huge CARS Fan. And I love the song Rivers wrote for the Monkees "She makes me laugh" I had not ever heard Buddy Holly until 2020! Now have all their CD's except teal which I have not even heard. Anyway, It's strange the varied opinion on ranking Weezer albums. But for me "White" is first, Pacific second, Red third, Black fourth, then probably OK Human. I actually really enjoy about half of Raditude (second side) and "Hang On" is one of my favorite Weezer songs though it appears on Hurley. Happiness and Peace.
@@colbyking5423 I can totally understand the nostalgia aspect of loving albums. Had I been in Jr. High or High School when Blue and Pinkerton came out? No doubt I would think they are among the best. I honestly, don't love Pinkerton. I almost never reach for it. Neither Blue. I do understand how and why some people love them so much. As someone who just discovered Weezer in 2020 and just bought all their cds, heard them all for the first time (yes, even Buddy Holly) just 3 years ago? My top 3? 1. White 2. Pacific Daydream 3. Red 4. Black 5. Winter. Interesting that we call all agree to love the band yet have varying opinions on which albums are best.
