[Intro] One, two, three, four [Verse 1] There is nothing left No more energy I have used it all Beauty isn’t free [Pre-Chorus 1] Taking tiny breaths of air Just to stay alive Counting all the lives I’ve had This is number nine [Verse 2] I require a drink Just to write these words Soon I will collapse Will my thoughts be heard [Pre-Chorus 2] Time is ticking on the clock Eyes are watching me Can I make it back to shore Will I die at sea [Chorus] Oh Please take me home I’m so alone [Verse 3] Vulture in the air Circling around Crying for my death I can hear the sound [Pre-Chorus 3] Vulture fly away from me Even though you are My lone friend and confidante Family from afar [Chorus] Oh Please take me home I’m so alone Alone [Pre-Chorus 3] Vulture fly away from me Even though you are My lone friend and confidante Family from afar [Chorus] Oh Please take me home I’m so alone Oh Please take me home I’m so alone Please take me home I’m so alone Please take me home I’m so alone Alone
This is probably my favorite Rivers / Weezer demo ever. This really gives a lot of insight to Rivers at the time, he put on a persona during Maladroit, but behind the scenes he was hurting with no real way to express himself, fearing a Pinkerton disaster again.
I love the feeling from that Weezer era, I just made a fan-made album almost solely based on these themes. Listening to demos from post-Pinkerton to Make Believe is just magical.
It’s tragic how many masterful demos never made it to an official release hopefully this one sees an official release along with the other demos from this era
