um clearly that's staged. matt is not in the band anymore, therefore they clearly couldn't've been playing in this video. the real video of them standing completely still is on the back cover of van weezer

@@saml302 either way, the reason was probably because it was a downer compared to all the songs on the album and I could see Rivers and / or the label leaving it off so they don't interrupt their arena rock vibe, except for an acoustic closer. Also, Precious Metal Girl makes more sense thematically to close the album. But I agree, this song is BEAUTIFUL.
They should have put it on the album officially. This would have been a killer follow up to Precious Metal Girl. That would have been the epic rockout I was jonsing for after the acoustic
i think this would’ve worked better as the track before pmg. it slows the pace of the album down a bit, perfectly setting pmg up to finish out the album.
Everyone's saying Pinkerton but it's really like the blue album it's almost only in dreams with a world has turned and left me here twist for flavor. Very Weezery though nice throw back
This shows me that Weezer still has the exact same capacity to make music that sounds just like what they used to, but they *choose* not to, which is a baller move. Good on you, Rivers.
@@antonioluna4518 I think they're past selling out at this point. When they make pop, it's not that they want money, it's that it's what Rivers wants to do. You can't possibly call them sellouts with one of their most recent albums being OK Human. They're just doing the things that they wanna do. They ain't got a thing to prove to you.
@@mushieslushie Lol because the songs on Pinkerton aren't simple...please. I love Pinkerton but the song structures and chord progressions are basic compared to those on the Blue album. Don't confuse emotion and distortion with complexity.
Kevin Johnson dude using fancy words to sound smart, Pinkerton is a much more musically complex sounding record than blue, especially Falling For You which has complicated chord patterns and key changes throughout the song, I’m not dissing blue in any way but cmon dude

As someone who thoroughly enjoyed Ok Human and Van Weezer I want more of this. This is the stuff that gets your mind thinking. Would’ve been perfect for closer on Van Weezer. Since they were doing a tribute to all these other bands why not themselves. (Yes I know Shelia is an old song too) But for me this confirms that if they really wanted to, they could make a Bluerton 2.

Once I heard this and found out it was on Vinyl only, I got really frustrated because they a ton of songs like that where they don’t make the albums but come out secretly. I just want these songs on streaming platforms
@@tpioh_ “She Needs Me” is a better song than “Blue Dream” but it also feels more of an inessential filler song, because it takes fewer risks. Also “I’ve Thrown It All Away” fits better toward the end of the album.

I'm actually sorta glad this track didn't make Van Weezer and was released as is. I like the album, but its production/sheen doesn't fit the pixies/early Weezer garage vibes going on here imo
@@lykiethuy9161 yeah, but that was also a different beast entirely. It'd be interesting to finally have a Weezer album in the style of Blue and Pinkerton after all these years. (And before people get defensive, White and EWBAITE are fantastic albums too, but they're their own beasts imo.)
@@lazrpo And it's not that they can't. There's a demo called "Since You Came Around" that sounds a lot like the Blue album. They can, but they refuse to make the same album again and again.
@@lykiethuy9161 I wouldn't say they won't do that again. Rivers has already confirmed that one of the Seasons albums is going to be based on "classic Weezer." Now we just have to find out what that means to him. And yeah, we do know he's capable of it. Several of the White and EWBAITE demos show that he's capable of it, so I'm sure he'll fall back into it at some point.
@Snow Globe is right but to add on to what they said, none of the lyrics or instrumentation (as in the parts remained the same without any of it being changed except maybe the drums having some new fills) were changed from the original 1993 demo, excluding the part added after the original cuts out.
I have a black vinyl copy, and it has it. Precious Metal Girl has what sounds like a recording of a needle hitting the run-out groove tacked on to the end of the track. After that, it goes into the 6th track on the side, which is this one. So, essentially, this is the 11th track on the ten track album. I'd imagine it's on all copies of the vinyl regardless of the color of the vinyl.
This video is amazing in every way The song sounds like older Weezer (because it is), it has a good amount of likes, a nostalgic photo is paired with the song, the lyrics are included in the description, and the uploader's profile picture is now one of my favorite images.
This just shows how detrimental the production on Weezer's run with Crush is (yes that includes the white album as well, not a big fan of its production either), in fact, I have a feeling that crush were the ones who didn't let them put this track on the album
@@Nightskyninja I enjoy it as well, it's in my top 5, but the production just feels too slick and clean for me personally, but I definitely do get its appeal
