We wouldn't have gotten Green, but we wouldn't have gotten Pinkerton 2. A very consistent theme with Rivers Cuomo is that he hates doing the same thing. Maladroit is the opposite of Green is the opposite of Pinkerton is the opposite of Blue. OK Human is the opposite of Van Weezer is the opposite of Black is the opposite of White. If Pinkerton had been more successful, we probably would have still gotten something like the Green sound, just played less safe and with more emotional lyrics.
@@TheRenegade... I'm glad someone shares my same take on Weezer. Rivers likes being weird with his songs and experiments a whole lot. No album is consistent with the last, and I find that awesome about them; it's an adventure along River's experiments.
I don't think so Rivers said that he didn't like the direction they were going by that time and he basically just did it out of depression. If Pinkerton was succesful the band would most likely have a break or just seize to exist
@@certifiedgoofer there are so many songs that would be fantastic and fun remade like this, I'm thinking it would be fun to hear their interpretation of "This is Such a Pity" from Make Believe.
@@Textile_Courtesan You can check out Tell Me What You Did. Its demo that got changed into This Is Such A Pity. It really feels like its from Pinkerton.
The story about this version is that Rivers spent his 1995 vacation on an island. He forgot all of his problems for a little bit and had the time of his life :) also there were japanese girls there
I'd put the vocals WAY lower in the mix to make it more accurate but the instrumental is on point. the solo goes criminally hard. also love that little superfriend synth before the second verse.
Wow. Wait til Rivers hears this. Bet he'll dig it... So interested in how you made this! I think you could do an entire video series on just the creative process of your compositions. Well done!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 =w=
Instant subscribe, Pinkerton phase is back baby (would love to hear Haunt You Everyday, Fake Smiles and Nervous Laughter or even a remake of Superfriend in the near future)
On one hand, I respect Rivers need to evolve as an artist. On the other I'd listen to way more Weezer if it sounded like this lol. This is fucking amazing! Just adding heavy guitars is one thing this is so much more than that!
On the green album Island in the Sun is more so about simply being excited for holidays, while this sounds more like wishing for a break from the dull routine, somewhere far away from the rest of society and all of the problems in the narrator's life
