The most basic of field gear items, with some explanation and information from the Reibert. I also show how to fold your zeltbahn.

the loose straps from the Y straps can be used as extra suspension. Just unbutton it and then loop it behind your ammo pouches on each side to get 5 points instead of 3 points of suspension. Also you can double loop your gas mask canister, it brings it tighter to the body.
@dergrenadier
@dergrenadier Год назад
I will have to check original material to verify if this was done regularly. The y strap idea especially sounds a bit excessive.

Seems like a typical platoon of Wehrmacht would clink and clank worse than a Union Civil War Regiment? Like most Americans I’ve always been fascinated with German kit but all those loose components, straps, buckles & metal must make a tremendous amount of noise. How on earth did the 106 and 99 not hear them coming on Dec 16, 1944?

shout out to the noisy neighbour! Interesting, never considered having a waffenrock as an enlisted, like many I consider the service dress order or 'walk out dress' already very handsome. As a former idiot, I appreciate all the different perspectives of people who chose certain branches or services to impress. So glad the reenacting hobby has grown more wealthy with information on RU-vid since I joined. Still sad older names in the hobby have gone off YT, ReenactorGuy, even though some of his advice was more pragmatic than technical like how a gatorade fits perfectly in a gas mask carrier was beneficial to me and probably others.
@dergrenadier
@dergrenadier 2 года назад
Damn! I forgot about ReenactorGuy, but he was the first ww2 german reenactor on YT. He and some others of the first ones are the reason I started in the first place. Enlisted men had waffenrocks but when the war actually started I imagine they more or less stopped that practice. There are pictures of entire parades in paris where everybody is wearing a waffenrock so that is saying something.

From George. I have a full uniform and the equipment kit but have an extra for the backpack gear called an 'A' frame that some of the kit connects to. My uniform is the same tunic as I see in this video and pants are of the same colour or field grey. I have four marks of helmet and the field cap. No weapons not even bayonet. I do have the boots also. I'm in Australia and unfortunately I don't belong to any reanacment group. So I can not wear this anywhere. I once thought of joining somewhere but it didn't happen. I like the video I'm very jealous. Thanks for the showing how it all goes together.Have fun.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

@@Somememeguy-ek8nw Hi there friend. The situation for me more than sucks. I'm too old for it even though I have seen older guys in videos I've watched. But even so I still couldn't join any groups cause I've no idea. I do have the boots. I bought from USA but cost me a fortune with the other bits and pieces. I could'vebought a KR98 rifle but too costly AU $500+ replica I do have a licence for replica weapons including historical percussion weapons and pistols. I even have an incomplete Fallshirmjagger tunic, helmet, lace up boots. The tunic has the yellow shoulder boards and rank collar insignia. No jumpsuit no webbing or equipment. My other interests was the German Afrika Korps but that was an inspiration from Raiders Of The Lost Ark. I've got several imitation field caps but not quite correct and a very thin canvas like material. Instead on concentrating on one I wasted money on several bits to incomplete uniforms. I could have bought a Stormtrooper costume that I want now. But again I'm stuck because the cost. I have a helmet and even that is ok but not sure of the size. It seems slightly small or medium.☹️☹️☹️🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

@dergrenadier

Depends on what type of boots you want. Riding boots, regular early/late boots, or something else?
