My name is Tammy. I struggle with too many mental issues, lol, but don't we all? On this channel I document most of my struggles. RU-vid helps me to be able to vent and talk about what's going on and how I feel. I consider my channel to be a mental health recovery channel. I'm also trying to lose weight in the process. Come along and let's strive to be the best versions of ourselves!
I'm not promoting any kind of (eating) disorder, I'm just documenting my life and my struggles.
I'm very hapy to have you Little Lemons accompany me. Thank you SO much for watching my video!

I'm so glad you're testing for autism! Please make sure you get someone who knows how it expresses itself in WOMEN. I was just diagnosed at 40, after 20 years in the mental health system. Suddenly my whole life made sense and why I felt like an alien my whole life. Edit: I forgot to mention: tulips, and all kinds of other lily flowers, are super toxic to cats! Please keep that in mind. ♥️

may I ask, do you have asperger? I feel like my godchild has all the symptoms, but the parents don‘t want to get her testet.
@SandySass
@SandySass Год назад
@Swissgirl🇨🇭 Aspergers is not a term that's really used anymore - it's all just autism, now - but I was diagnosed with autism level 1, which used to be called Aspergers, yes. It was recommended to my parents when I was in 2nd grade that I be taken to the school psychologist because teachers could tell something was wrong with me, but unfortunately my father resisted this. His thinking was that "yes, my daughter is special but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with here and she should be allowed to be how she is". Which was a nice thought, and everything, but looking back I wish they would have done what was recommended because it would have saved me literally a LIFETIME of stress, trauma, and self-hatred to have been diagnosed early, instead of age 40. If you think it would help, feel free to use my story when talking to the parents of your godchild, maybe that will make them reconsider. Because I can guarantee you that a correct diagnosis will not be an obstacle for your godchild but immense help, for them to understand themselves and hopefully get the right kind of support in place so that they may grow and thrive into a happy and secure adult.

One thing I learned from my C-PTSD diagnosis is, no matter how much the law is supposed to protect from disability discrimination, no matter how much people tell you you can walk away and take a few minutes when you're overwhelmed, no matter how much you advocate for yourself...They're all a bunch of fucking liars who cater to their own interests and assume every stereotype they've ever seen in a movie is true. I know autism is the new fashionable diagnosis, but I only think a diagnosis helps if it helps with treatment. I relate to a lot of your anxiety, and the sound and light triggers you experience. I always use headphones when shopping and your sunglasses tip has been helpful.

I'm following you for a while now and very early on i was thinking: Does she have ASD ? I think you do have ASD. I recognize a lot of myself in you. And hell yess sun glasses and ear mufflers are great or just headphones with music to calm the mind. What difference does it make? You still have to learn the same coping mechanisms and learn to participate in life like everybody else. You seem very capable/high functioning (neurodivergent or not) so work on your self esteem and the rest will follow. Diagnosis are explanations but you are always looking for excuses
@Ella-kn9qd
@Ella-kn9qd Год назад
I agree, I was diagnosed as a baby 25 years ago before it was trendy to be autistic, my diagnosis was always something I kept completely hidden as I was very ashamed of it, so I always tried my best to be as normal as possible, never needed to be in special ed classes, graduated highschool, went to college, have a job and had multiple jobs, I live alone and pay all my own bills. I don't tell people I have autism. Nobody knows. Sure lots of people do think I'm a bit weird or little off, and I do things differently than a normal person might , but like for the most part I am a "normal" person. So is Tammy, if she wouldn't say she has autism no one would know. The label is pointless in these circumstances.
@sophiestanza
@sophiestanza Год назад
@@Ella-kn9qd Totally. I was diagnosed with severe ADHD as an adult and I’m actually glad I found out so late because I learned myself in my own ways how to manage it. I find this neurodivergent trend to be dangerous as it encourages a victim mentality, when you’re a great example that people with different wired brains are perfectly capable of being a functioning human being just like everyone else :) I think anyone who literally isn’t capable would have been noticed as a child, so I don’t quite understand the need for a diagnosis at 30. It’s nice to know “why” but it doesn’t suddenly change your abilities or life in the way I think Tammy or others might hope

Tammy keep fighting for yourself and to get yourself tested for autism I know it's different in male and female but my two grandsons have both tested for high functioning autism. The oldest is 7 and he has been in therapy for quite awhile he is doing better with being around crowds and getting overstimulated but it still happens and when he goes into a meltdown it gets bad. He has noise reducing headphones to help with the sounds around him and he has a weighted blanket that helps him at times plus he has gotten a little support dog that helps soothe him but he can't handle people arguing or yelling at all certain foods even seem to mess with him emotionally. So many don't understand autism at all they will just say he doesn't have it that he is just throwing a tantrum I wish people would get educated on things like that even some doctors are like that and now is little brother has been diagnosed with it also . So good luck at getting tested and getting in with a therapist for it research as ,much as you can about it .

I was diagnosed last year, at 45. I had MULTIPLE therapists immediately dismiss it when I brought it up. Every single one of them said it's just Anxiety (which I also have). This last one I specifically chose because she's specialized in ASD. She said she couldn't see me for that unless I had that diagnosis. I said your profile says you also deal with Anxiety. Can you treat me for that? Lol. That answer was yes. She didn't dismiss it. She walked me through how to get evaluated for ASD, by someone who will actually run the tests. Oh my. Shocking. The Neuropsych confirmed my ASD diagnosis (I already knew). It took 14 years from the time I figured it out until the time I got an actual diagnosis.

Hi Tammy. That's great that you're getting tested for autism and continuing to advocate for your mental health, which is so important, as you know. I highly recommend you check out Alan Roberts and his lovely wife, Crystal, on YT. They are weight loss and fitness coaches for people with binge eating disorders. Alan can be a little rough around the edges because he always speaks his mind, which I find refreshing, but if his style isn't for you, his wife Crystal is very nice and mellow. They're excellent coaches and Alan has also struggled with binge eating and he lost 100 pounds and has kept it off for years. Hope this helps. Keep up the great work on your weight loss goals. 😊

autism has a lot of different aspects to it, and some professionals don't think a patient can be autistic if they don't show clear signs of struggling with all autistic traits. i'm autistic but when i was being diagnosed at 15, i was at first told i was too imaginative and was too good at understanding figurative language, metaphors and sarcasm to have autism. ultimately, because i struggle with so many other autistic traits (mainly social interaction and sensory issues), i was diagnosed. as a child all my autistic traits were ignored because i was a well behaved kid with good grades, i was seen as intelligent and introverted rather than autistic. self diagnosis is not perfect (a lot of autistic traits can be from other disorders and figuring out what diagnosis fits your issues is best done with a professional) but especially considering that there is no real treatment for autism (you can get support and accomodations though), it can be enough for some people to identify their issues as probably being autism. i know when i first learned about autism, i was 13 and it made me realize that i wasn't a bad person or broken, i was just different. i'm glad i am diagnosed now, but the most impactful thing for me was to learn about autism and understand that i could be autistic, because it made me able to forgive myself for being weird.

Hey!! I'll watch this video later but I just wanted to leave this detrimental info here for anyone seeking a diagnosis as an adult. I would appreciate likes so others can see this comment. As an adult with an autism diagnosis, I want to leave you with a warning and ask you to look at the dark side of the diagnosis that few people talk or know about because of unawareness. Lots of people are very privileged and never have to think of any of this. First of all there are usually very few guaranteed benefits from having a diagnosis. So I suggest really finding out exactly what those benefits would be for you before seeking diagnosis. There really is no official treatment for autism. For me, the negatives are truly scary and I'm fearful my rights might be taken away.. Alright so, not all of these will apply globally, I hope. However they are important factors you need to figure out before diagnosis. I will make it an easy to follow list. These might be triggering, but it's our reality. - So to start with the negatives, for diagnosed autistics there are a lot of countries you're not allowed to immigrate to. - Then if you're thinking of gender affirming care, like transitioning, that is very often denied from autistic people. So we don't have bodily autonomy like others. - Another type of autonomy we can lose is legal autonomy. We can be forcibly put under conservatorhip, and this way losing control over our finances, housing, permission to marry, consent to surgery, sign contracts etc. - Autistics can also be institutionalized if someone close to us claims that we are in danger, or if a doctor believes we are not “complying” with medical instructions. For example, if an Autistic adult decides they don’t wish to take an antidepressant that’s been prescribed to them because they hate the side effects, they may be treated as medically noncompliant and a risk to themselves and be forced to take meds or be institutionalized as a result. - We can lose our parental and reproductive rights. - We can be denied organ transplants and care. Preserving a disabled person’s life is still considered a less worthy cause than saving someone non-disabled. Disabled people are more likely to die from covid for example, because we are secondary, and our access to ventilators has been rationed and inappropriate Do Not Resuscitate orders added secretly to some of our medical records. The medical discrimination of disabled people in general is shocking. - Discrimination against autistic people is deeply embedded in systems around the world. We are generally seen as less competent. I will finish this list by saying, if you think you are autistic then I will see you as autistic and most of our community welcomes you. I have learned the most about autism and tips to make my life fit around me better from other autistic people. Autism is wonderful and we are all in this together. I will continue to fight for our autonomy.

Tammy I was surprised how the covid mask has greatly helped me, along with my sunglasses when I have to go out. Before I realized how safe the mask made me feel, I already wore my sunglasses even after dark, but now I never go out without the mask too. Even tho I do find the mask inconvenient and uncomfortable, (and a lot of dirty looks) while at the same time it keeps me calm and enterally 'safe'. I don't go out as often as you do, but now at least after discovering the mask going out isn't as difficult for me. I REALLY NEED a job, but I just don't know how to go about it with all my issues. Before my husband passed away he coddled me and did almost everything for me, when he passed I felt I might as well die too because I really felt like I lost half of me, and that was the half that took care of me. He would always say, "that's okay honey, there are lots of people like you, you're okay", so I never thought beyond about "what's wrong with me?", now I see there is something wrong with me, but I just don't have the funds to find help. Everything in America charges for everything. But for now I'm grateful I discovered the mask lol. I hope you find your correct diagnosis. Keep searching. To me you are awesome because you at least have the confidence to create this channel so you can bring in an income and take care of yourself. You are amazing.

Or Tammy can put an appliqué over the hole, maybe in a shape of a flower, a cat, or a lemon. It will make your sweater look even better.

Hi Tammy you feeling drained after being in crowd of people or after being around people or in places could be a sign your an empath. It drains you and feels like you need to get away and recharge❤

I am quite sure (if you watched this video) that the last thing she needs is people making here paranoid around here life . The cats were only sniffing the tulips , they're just fine . She takes care of them just perfectly.

@@darkeden1874 Paranoia would be something not based on reasonable facts. This is just a friendly word of caution, not a demand. I was spreading awareness for common hazards, not at all suggesting she did anything wrong.

@@chapa2282 That's right. There's Stephan, too... I think that's why I was caught off guard with the "she." I guess it wasn't in my head because I knew about him (even though, I admit, I forgot when I wrote that question lol).

You're lucky you can spend days doing whatever you like. If you would go to work then you'd not spend so much time doing these. Please be appreciative that folks let you live your way. Lots are depressed, trying to pay bills and buy food, deal with weight issues. Hard to understand how you view it as having it so hard.

Lucky? She's literally MENTALLY ILL. Yes she's functional enough most times that she can vlog, but being at home bc of mental illness isn't a damn vacation.

I'm sure that Tammy is VERY appreciative to be blessed with such a job. The thing that is hard for her is living with mental illnesses, which is incredibly difficult, and I think she tries her best with the career that she has (i.e. RU-vid.)
@designchik

Maybe you should try not being so judgmental. Her “job” is literally RU-vid, so she works hard at it just like other people do in “regular” jobs. I don’t get the people who come on this channel just to shit on her. Do you enjoy it?
