I absolutely fell in love with Wheat Beers after my visit to Munich last year. This is probably my favorite Weissbier along with Paulaner. Erdinger is easier to drink and maybe my first recommendation for someone new to the style, however it doesn't have the same full aroma and taste. More like a lager with some hints of the Weissbier characteristics. Weihenstephaner, Paulaner and Andechser are probably the truest to the style.
@@TheBierHooligan Hi, I enjoyed this video because you share an obvious passion for the "bier"!! My friend, Eric, just turned me on to Weihenstephaner, and I'm very impressed. What's my next step--Franziskaner?
Hi! I just discovered Weihenstephaner and I Love it! What's next, Franziskaner? Then maybe Paulaner? From its description, I think I'll save Erdinger for last, eh?
Just tried this for the first time tonight while getting ready to tune into your live Birthday bash, very nice beer I am now online looking for the glass.
Hello Mr Beer-Hooligan 😜 from Germany! i just coincidentally watched your Weissbier tasting. May i give u an advice: if u take a closer look at the bottom of the Bottle you'll notice a little rest of yeast on the ground...usually it's handled like this: pour the Beer into the (special) Glass gently, but not all of it. Leave a little bit in the Bottle & shake it gently to get the yeast mixed with the last sip & pour it finally in your glass...that's the right way!! And the best way in summertime when it's hot outside and your tongue sticks in your mouth: try a so called "Crystal-Weissbier" (a clear Wheat-Bier with a little bit more carbonic acid), same big Glass & 1 or two slices of Lemon on top of it!! Outstanding-refreshment, nothing better to give your Brain the day of on a really hot day, believe me! But- nice tasting-vids!!👍
Totally agree, one of the best Weiss Biers, worked in Germany a bit in the past and ski'd a lot in Austria for years, love a good Weiss Bier, Sampled quite a few over the years, Paulaner, Franziskaner, Edelweiss, Stiegl weiss, Weihenstephaner, Schofferhoffer, Reinbacher, Wieninger, Schneider Weisse and a few of the Dunkel versions of a few of them too. 👍
Had some of this in hanover a couple of weeks back so popped out and bought a bottle from Waitrose today @£1.85 to have with our German sausage and saurkrault tea. Very nice to, not my go-to normal style but worthy all the same.
Hi beer hooligan. Really enjoying your reviews. Was in Sainsbury's and I am having this right now. I have recently gone mad for weisbeir. Even more so than the Belgium beers that all my friends are raving about. Where does this rate on the most recent weisbeir scene for you? I have had a few eridngers but this is much much better I feel. There seems to be a lot more yeast and bottle conditioning. I also had no idea this is the world's oldest brewery. This was £1.50 from Sainsbury's???!? That's incredible
Been thinking of trying this. Barely drank anything the past couple years and would like to sample a few of the best the alcohol world has to offer (that is reasonably priced) before I likely go back to teetotaling.
