I've just bought a mk1 from 1984. It has a narrower loading gate and a non-removable foresight and has the ball bearing in the barrel housing which, according to some, can sometimes detach and become lost! Very well built rifles which had 25mm internals as opposed to the later models which are 26mm. I also have the Diana mod 52 made in May 1987 so we have similar tastes! Many thanks for a great presentation.

@@RealAirgunAdventures Thank you. I have a few more: 1977 HW35, 1987 HE35E, HW80 mk1 and an HW90 circa 2000 which given to me only last night. An early Webley mk3, one of the very first BSA Airsporter mk1, and a mk1 BSA Meteor--minus its rearsight! My HW77k was bought second hand very recently which still has its period Kassner 2.75x40 scope. Hopefully I will be able to find a rearsight for it as I like open sights.

@@darrencady4261 wow, that's a good collection. You could have a look at proteksupplies.co.uk they have a lot of rare spare parts. I get a few odds and ends from them. I have recently picked an old Norica phantom gunmark ( mod 73) 1980's I think. Needs a bit of tlc but it's a nice little rifle. I have to admit I like the classics and springers have a certain magic about them.

Yes you can reset the safety catch just if you put it off and don't shoot it recock it SIMPLE! So many people haven't worked this out you apparently are one. Once tuned one of these for FT it was superb ox red spring highly polished cylinder polished trigger shears 6ft per second spread with the proper crossman prems and superbly accurate better than any TX

Glad I stumbled on your channel. Great stuff. 👍I used to have a lovely HW77, and wish I still had it. It had a 25mm piston. I currently have an elderly HW80 with an Apollo 4 x 32 ( not AO) scope on it, as purchased about 3 years ago, I intended to replace the scope but it is still on the rifle, still going strong, and will probably remain for a while. My suprise pellet is Milbro Select.22 , purchased lots of them very cheap at Bisley Phoenix meeting arms fair around 10 years ago. Shoot like shit it most of my airguns but, my BSA Ultra SE luv's em. Amazingly accurate , and a damn good looking rifle as well , my mrs has been yapping on about getting a springer .. think something " used " would be ideal , just in case she don't like all the cocking .. ( the rifle that is ) due to being knocked off her motorcycle a few years back and tearing the ligaments in her shoulder .. so , we'll have to see how it pans out ... definitely an underlever though ..
@RealAirgunAdventures

Probably ideal for that. There's the Gamo whisper swarm, 10 shot magazine break barrel. That's said to be very easy going too. Might be worth a look.

Mines a 1989 gun with the 25mm piston and it's in the CS500 stock, I've the 80 in the same stock, I've had lots and lots of air rifles in the past 30 years and I'd say the 77 is a lot more accurate, such a great rifle. Oh, and there definitely a better engineered gun than the AAs,

@@6lr6ak6 I think the 77 is and always will be regarded as the best under lever ever made. I know most people say the TX200 mk2 is better but I've never seen one out shoot a 77. I also think over time the walther LGU will be appreciated for what it is. I like Air Arms and they make good rifled, they also look very nice too.

Great video, very informative. I am really considering a HW77, maybe new or pre-owned, all depends on the price of the complete package rifle and scope. What scope would you recommend?
@RealAirgunAdventures
@RealAirgunAdventures Год назад
Hi, scopes are really all about what you plan on shooting. With a springer, you've got recoil in 2 directions, and that's hard on the scope. What kind of shooting will you be doing?
@Robert.S459
@Robert.S459 Год назад
@@RealAirgunAdventures Thanks for getting back to me. Initially target work at local club, but I would like to get some shooting in at a permission if I can find one. I will be paying Sandwell field Sports a visit soon as they have a great reputation, and do great tuning work on HW's. I will then have a much greater idea on how far my budget will go.
@RealAirgunAdventures

@Robert S Sounds like you need a scope for all seasons. You won't go wrong with a Hawke. They do a Vantage and a fastmount (cheaper). The only difference is that the Vantage is a one-piece tube. You'll never know the difference. Another good buy would be a Vector Optics Veyron. Optics warehouse do some great deals on both. You'll only need 2nd focal plane, and that's always a bit cheaper, too. 👍
