Thanks Steve, I’m gonna do this before it gets cold. Not paying $250 this year for someone else to do it. You should link the tools and parts to an affiliate page or amazon. $$$
hate Weil mcclain boilers ... breech always contorts and those bolts holding breech down is the fucking stupidest sit I've ever seen ... nice work Steve .... good as old momma!
could I ask a really dumbass question how is the oil delivered, is it piped in or what around here propane is delivered by truck sorry for such a dumb question but born and raised in Texas boilers are very interesting thanks Mr. L........clifton
i have to do this... i lost my religion doing this too...stupid design and why not just allow a long STRAIT wire brush that gets everything...no, lets do random 45 degree angles where you cant touch 50% of the knobs, then charge 70 for a piece of metal ( I just used a dulled out long saw zall blade and called it a day. I am NOT a DIY and honestly going to hire someone to ensure it is safe for family, but all these bums around here want 3-500 to clean it, nothing else. One didnt show after I agreed, the other was irritated like a baby and said he doesnt like to do thos jobs as he gets dirty....wth
@@stevenlavimoniere I have one of this brand over 20 years. I did NOT particularly pick this brand which was installed by the oil company I purchased oil from at that time. What is a good brand you do like. I want to know so next time that need to be replaced, then I can be prepared. Thanks.
Why don't you just go ahead and tell us how you really feel about the Weil Mclain Boiler!.. Go ahead , let it out, don't hold back!,,lmao Good video and great service on that brand of Boiler you love so much! That flu reduction is bullshit. Original installer needs a swift kick in the ass! Thumbs up on the service!
Steve was havin' a bad day Momma. He recovered to make it a good day. Sometimes it takes a rocket scientist to figure out nuts and bolts...lool bustin' ur ass !!!!
LOL, that is the same boiler I have. It came with the house. You would love servicing mine since it's installed in a 4 ft high crawl ! You really have to clean those bolier afrom the bottom to get them really clean. In the service manual for that Boiler, it even tells u you have to clean it from the top and bottom.
Hi Steve, awesome vid as usual....just curious as you run your own business do you do on call overnight services for a no heat call? Just curious as I may get into the hvac field and trying to think ahead of my next career as my employer of the last 20 years closed...thx
Just cleaned wgo-4 last weekend. learned a great deal from your videos. When i do replace it. will probably go with different boiler. what are your recomendations?
You did an admirable job cleaning the heat exchanger. Nice work - and that is an understatement. What you might wish to mention to your customers is the REMARKABLE increase in efficiencies realized with a cleaned exchanger... Cleaning a 'moderately' dirty exchanger will result in at least a FIFTEEN percent increase... How can you measure?? Get a stop watch and measure run time before and after cleaning under similar conditions ( same sized nozzle, same settings on aquastat, close to same outdoor temps, same temp. range in house) You'll see boiler cycle time DECREASE. Less run time to achieve same heating cycle = increased efficiencies... For that heat exchanger??? I have no doubt they saw a 25% decrease in their heating bill (as long as the burner was adjusted, too). All I can say is WOW... that was dirty!! You do truly impressive work! Funny story.. I took a graduate level 'Energy Policy' course at Stony Brook way back in 1984 - Professor Peter Meier.. He started off first day of classes by saying: If you remember anything from this course, remember to clean your furnace heat exchanger!! Ask me what else I remember from the course! lollol
They should make the "engineers" work out in the field on their boilers for a year to see how f..cked up the design is.. not service friendly...they lose customers
I like the Weil McLain. BUT!! Im not a fan of that Beckett on the GO3 rather see carlin or riello. GO4 or higher the Beckett is great. Don't like that L1 head on burner
+Joegernaut you would nave to test for low voltage at the board to find out whats going on . is the tstat calling ??? you have to test to find out . whats happening plan and simple
I have the same gold series wgo-3. Mine is 10 yrs old. So far so good, I can't complain. Mine has the .85-45B which is really a gallon at 140psi. Mine I believe is 6 inch pipe, it's out the back and a short run to a brick chimney.
Steve I put that boiler in everywhere as well as servicing them. You might want to try using the slant fin brush in there works very well in my opinion. Not sure who's around your area for supply houses but bell Simons carries them (slant fun brushes there called) I use them in all boilers give it a try
Compensating with smaller nozzle for an overloaded chimney and a choked down vent pipe. Good call. Your numbers were great considering what you dealt with there. Nice.
Nice work Steve enjoy the oil burner videos I have a background in oil burners and keep my state Lic. but never worked in the field directly. I do electrical work full time.
Thanks for the video. It has been about 3 years since I have had mine cleaned, and it is starting to run as such. Mine is not a gold, but is 29 years old. I am actually going to do my own cleaning but needed to know exactly what to do. (my father does commercial HVAC, so I have enough training and understanding under my belt to do a basic cleaning. I am smart enough to know what I don't know). Great that you are local. I am up in NH. P.S. I clicked your subscribe button.
