If people wash their clothes every day. Does that mean they don't have "the chair"? Because I can't believe there are people out there without clothes hanging over their chair
I have The Couch (I have a small couch in my room because we recently moved here and this used to be a storage room so the couch stays for now. I currently have no space for a desk tho)
I forgot one that I do that is arguably “weird”! After I boil my menstrual cup, I let the water cool and then use it to water plants. I guess the only the thing that makes it “weird” is the stigma about female hygiene being “icky”. In reality, the cup is essentially clean when it goes in the boiling water, the purpose is to sanitize to be extra safe! 🌱
Honestly, for a European that I am, it's super weird that people in the US wash clothes after wearing them once. Like whyyyy. Just do the sniff test and if it's not dirty and doesn't smell, just wear it again...
I agree, I'm from the UK and will re-wear trousers, skirts, jumpers for WEEKS but t-shirts & underwear are where I draw the line on wearing things more than once because of: personal hygiene (underwear) and body odour (sniff test is almost unnecessary on my t-shirts...). So while I don't wash every time every item, I also manage 1 wash every 2-3 weeks - which is certainly a better practice as well!
I find it weirder that they use dryers even when they have amazing weather! If anyone should use a dryer it should be the irish and u.k.ers as we get rain and cold weather most of the time and I don't know anyone who uses the drier full time, a lot don't even own one. Maybe I'm just bitter that our homes aren't big enough for a laundry room, imagine that, a whole room for laundry instead of my dirty clothes in my bedroom, washing machine in the kitchen, dryer in the shed, indoor rack wherever it fits at the time.

My favorite thing to reuse is paper. I literally haven’t bought notebooks or printer paper in years because people are so wasteful that I can easily dig through a recycling bin at school to use the blank sides of paper. I’ve made notebooks out of reused paper, and I print all my assignments on the backside of printer paper. People probably think I’m weird digging through recycling bins but it saves me a ton of money and trees from being killed!
My school used to have a locker clean out day where (especially at the end of the year) people would throw out entire notebooks and binders just because they were done with that class. I dug them out one time and used them for years.
I work with kids and you would not believe how many papers kids go through (either because “they want their own paper” or because their motor skills don’t allow them to write small and efficiently on paper.) I should honestly start collecting the half used paper but the only thing I use paper for anymore (as a chemistry student) is exams 😂
Omg yes!! Especially since now I mainly use paper for when I'm budgeting and going over finances and I mainly just scribble a bunch of numbers, I just use any blank space on a paper! Plus, blank sides of paper can also be used for sketching!
I remember in high school, a student would run down the halls on the last day for kids to throw out school stuff (in my case, just test papers I wouldn't look at again, dry pens, etc...). You bet your ass I was one of the ones digging in the bin because so many kids would throw away EMPTY NOTEBOOKS, USEFUL PENS/PENCILS, BINDERS, BOOK COVERS, BACKPACKS. It's taxing enough when we throw away single use items (guilty here) but THROWING AWAY PERFECTLY USEFUL ITEMS SO MOMMY AND DADDY CAN BUY THE SAME EXACT THING(OR THE NEW "COOL" THING) NEXT YEAR! When some of their own classmates are struggling to just get paper every year... Flash forward to 2018. After college spring semester, in my apartment complex, I found a working laptop in the dumpster! It's only like 1 or 2 year old. Worth a lot. Touchscreen, windows 10 blah blah. Only problem is a crack in the corner of the glass (not even on the screen portion) and it needs a new battery to work unplugged. I facebooked the Microsoft user to double check some angry roommate didn't throw it away. He hasn't answered so.... he's either dead or spoiled as fuck. He could have at least made some money off of it! Yes, I've done the popcorn thing haha
I have bacne and keratosis pilaris. If you keep the towel hung up in the bathroom where people go to the washroom and the change of temperature and humidity from people showering doesn't rly keep the towel clean.
Whaaat "re-wearing" (or as I call it, wearing) my clothes more than once (or twice or three times..) before washing them is super normal. Maybe it's because I grew up kinda poor and we had to pay per load to use the machines, but like... I don't get that dirty on a day to day basis. Same with towels. I have a coworker who uses two new towels for every shower and is always complaining about how much laundry she has to do....
My family always did that too, probably because there were seven people in our family and my mom didn't want to do laundry four times a day. It stills shocks me that some people change their sheets or towels everyday, it's just sooo unneccessary in most cases and so wasteful.

If they’re not dirty (like stains or sweat) and the don’t smell (even a little) then why wash it? 🤷🏼♀️ I’ve never even thought about before that it’s environmentally friendly to do it that way! lol

Things I reuse: -I use paper grocery bags (sometimes I forget my reusable ones) to wrap gifts -I use old socks as dust mittens -I tie up old tee shirts to make toys for my dog -I dont buy rags. I just cut up old tee shirts. -If I order something that comes with bubble wrap or air paper (yikes) I use it to stuff my handbags so they keep their shape. -i refuse to buy drinking glasses. I use old sauce jars instead.
The tshirts for your dog as toys is GENIUS! My dog destroys toys and so many are made of plastic. I’ve tried rubber toys but he genuinely just loves the destruction 😂 and I hate buying them!! but couldn’t think of an alternative! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
The only time I wash something after wearing it once is if I sweated alot while wearing it and it smells. Other wise I wear a piece of clothing 3-4 times before washing.
I'm doing the same. And I'm washing the things after wearing it once, when I've been at a party where people smoke, so my clothes smell really bad for me, as a person who's not smoking. Luckily I'm just going to parties a few times the year. 😄 Sometimes I see my colleague giving me a weird look for wearing my jeans a whole week. But who cares, the know I'm living eco-friendly

Since the holidays are coming up, here is a "low waste" solution I've done for xmas last year and for my kiddo's birthday: instead of wrapping paper or re-usable gift bags I went to goodwill and bought some pillowcases and used them like a gift bag. I was able to find lots of holiday themed pillowcases for xmas (plus just basic green and red work too) and tied them up with cloth ribbon. For my kiddo's birthday I bought more colorful pillowcases. It worked amazingly well and I plan to do it every year. It felt so good last year to have no wrapping paper in the garbage can at the end of the day!
My mom did this every Xmas when we were growing up. She said it was because she was too lazy to wrap the gifts. So you're saving time and wrapping paper! Double win!

I also use gift bags and another thing I do is wrap presents in old newspaper! My parents still get the newspaper every day and I just take the pretty pages and save them for the next present.
Speaking of hair ties. Back when I had long hair and whenever one of my socks got a hole. I would always cut off the top rim and use them as hair ties. They are a lot softer and more gentle to the hair.
when I was young it was "a thing" to put you long hair into a nylon stocking cut open like that to keep it straight after blow drying without leaving marks like an elastic would.
I was a nylon/stocking person growing up. When they got runs and holes, I would just cut them into strips and use them for hair ties. They were far softer, cause much less mess in my hair sleeping in them, they didn't break or fall out as much, and one pair made SO MANY HAIR TIES.

I grew up in a world where grease was saved in a coffee can. Cleaning was done with cut-up worn-out clothes. Liquids and powders were sold in big paper bags, cardboard boxes and glass bottles and doled out for use in a refilled mayonnaise jar or baking soda box. Lunches were packed without plastic. Straws were for sodas and milkshakes, which were for special occasions, and most adults didn't use them. The 1870s? No, the 1970s.
I reuse my old t-shirts for toilet “paper”! I know you’ve done something similar before, but I’m a germaphobe, and I have no problem with the way I do it. I cut the shirts (100% cotton only, or it’s not as absorbent), and I use the cloth for #1 only. I still use regular TP for number 2, but you’d be surprised how much TP we girls use on #1. I keep a small trash bin next to the toilet, and I wash when I have a full load of laundry. There’s no odor, no stains, nothing. I love it and don’t know why I didn’t make the change years before. I’ll never go back. I’d love to see a video of you giving it a try. ❤️
Same! I started after cloth diapering my son & using cloth wipes with him. I was like, what's the difference between him & me? I'm the only girl in our household, and we go through TP way slower now.
Agree. Pants, socks, sportswear all go in the wash after one use (bras last me a week if I rotate between two) the rest can be reworn. Some tshirts are washed after one use if they are smelly.
My favorite “weird” reusable is t-shirts-I had a TON that I wasn’t wearing, so I cut the fronts/any printed area into squares and made a quilt. But that left most of the backs of the shirts, so I just folded them up under my sink and I use them like paper towels. They’re not super absorbent but they’re great for cleaning up gross things and messes, and once I’m done I just toss them in the hamper. I haven’t bought paper towels in almost a year and I didn’t have to buy anything new to replace them. Win-win 🙌
Underwear, socks, clothes that got sweaty or got something spilled on them are used once before washing. Everything else can usually be worn at least one more time. Saves money if you have to pay to use the washer in your building.
Alyssa Faith, even hand washing underwear reduces the amount of water and soap necessary to clean them; and, the gentle agitation keeps them nice longer so the elastic doesn’t get stretched or worn out. A friend in college would hand wash her undies in the shower with her to reduce water waste even further.
I have a washing machine in my house but I agree. Underwear and smelly or dirty clothes go to the wash. The rest stays. I can wear a bra multiple times (even if I mostly don't wear any). Since I only have two jeans (curvy girl problems), I use them every other day for weeks before washing them. T-shirts usually don't last long but sweaters can. Also, I usually let my clothes hanging so they get some air and feel fresh when I rewear them.
I decided that I didn't want to wear my wedding dress only once and then shove it in a box for decades so now every year on our anniversary, we get dressed up in our wedding attire and take anniversary pictures to commemorate the day! :)
I literally wear my jeans for weeks until they either smell or I literally spill something on them. Same with jumpers. The only things I really wash are tops and underwear 😂
I do the same thing with jeans, they seem to last longer that way which is good cuz i split my pants in the same place all the time, since I work in a tool store! Work shirt, I'll wear 3-4 times without washing and not care. Dresses, sweatpants. T shirts and tank tops, it depends on the season :) For obvious reasons!
If you use some aluminum over the top of a candle like a little volcano while burning it make the wax melt off the sides and the candle is flat again. No need to scrap or try melt and collect. - Lazy zero waster lol

Great idea! I'm turning them in toys for my dad's dog. So he won't need to buy something new, just to see it getting destroyed after a few months. (His dog is careful with his toys, but he's really huge, so toys just get broken after a while)
When I was in high school I used to pick up metallic hairpins from the ground, give them a good clean and reuse them. Hairpins get lost so easily and constantly need replacing.
If you have plastic toothbrushes you can wash them and use them to clean! I clean my bottles with them and little nooks around the house like in the shower or around the faucet.
Do it al the time! And when I really made it gross, I know i need to have a new brush haha I cannot stand the bamboo texture in my mouth so that is why I still use plastic ones
Probably the “weirdest” thing I reuse is my washing machine water. We have a grey water hose that goes from the machine out onto the lawn and waters the grass🥳
I have a condescension drier, it fills up a tank with the water it pulled from the clothes and I use that water to water my plants and also for cleaning my shower, so I don't need to use new water. I mean, it's water pulled out of clean clothes, there's nothing wrong with it. :)

Just curious, I'm not meaning any offense but wouldn't it be better if the washing machine water went to specifically the toilets instead of the lawn because of the chemicals normally used to wash clothes? Again, just curious, you're maybe not even using those chemicals but I just want to know
While walking my dog I find many things. Hair ties, gloves, hats, clothes, towels on the beach. I pick up everything, wash it, reuse it myself or donate it to a second hand store. The towels I bring over to an animal shelter. Also, I never buy doggie poop bags. Simply find them on the ground. I live in Chicago, and there is lots of trash laying around on the streets and in the parks. People don’t bother to pick up. My clothes - wash them when they stink.
I reused newspaper, since my dog positioned himself in several tries to shit (lol he had a mini I have to shit dance) I had time to place some pages (enough that it was sturdy enough to pick up as an horizontal sheet...like 2 or 3 pages folded in 2). Then, after his busines I picked it up and made a packet of it. Usually one newspaper lasted me a month and he was a big bully dog. Also it was my neigbourg old newspaper since I was frugal.
I did the same thing with the dog poop bags, I know how easily they can be dropped or not noticed, but i have found so many while on walks, and now I always have spare!
For dog poop bags I use plastic bags from around the house. Even with our reusable ones we still have a huge store of them (plus my dad doesn't ever bring reusable bags with him when he buys something) so I've just converted them into dog poop bags. They still end up in the trash but I figure if ever poop bag is a reused grocery bag that still halves the number of bags that go into the trash.
The story of the dress reminded me of my favorite party skirt. I bought it new and it was such a long skirt that I wore it as a dress. Then I took sewing classes and decided to turn it into a long skirt, and I kept wearing it multiple times. And finally this year I had a wedding and well, I sent my skirt to be cut. So now is a midi plated skirt and we absolutely still in in love... since 2011. My friends laugh at me and say I'm like Marge from The Simpsons when she turns her Chanel suit into multiple outfits but hell yeah and I'm proud haha

As a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump, waste is inevitable. I reuse my pump tubing as ties, use them to tie things around the house and in the garden to tie plants to treleces. Test strip bottles make great containers for small items, travel jewlery organization, and for ibuprofen. I've seen people make braceletes and necklaces from pump tubing as well but haven't ventured that far. Hoping other type 1s see this and can give more ideas how they re-use their supply's
My daughter is also on a pump. Test strip bottle in my purse is full of nooch (nutritional yeast). Those bottles are amazing! I'll have to ask her if shes found uses for any of the other supplies.

@@jen1sur I'm not too concerned as insulin has an antiseptic and antibacterial in it (phenol preservative = that distinct insulin smell). If I were to use it for jewlery, or food specific uses I would use a syringe with or without a needle and push water or water and soap in it if you're worried.
I feel like it's stealing. If you had grabbed the container and paid for your popcorn and reused the container that would be OK. with that said do what works for you. Not my place to judge.
We Indians are so frugal mostly and reduce, reuse so many things like: 1. Reusing old tee shirts and clothes to wipe countertops and the floor - till they literally tear! 2. We never buy dryers but instead use clothes hangers or racks and dry them out in our balconies in the Sun. 3. Most of us don't use straws! We just drink them straight out of the bottle or a glass. 4. We use soapnuts to wash our hair and gold and silver jewellery! 5. We bring home our fresh fruits and vegetables in reusable cloth or canvas bags. Every home has some of these! 6. Never throwing away clothes but donating them to friends or to younger members of the family as hand me downs till they tear! 7. Reusing baby stuff like blankets, pillows, cots etc - hand me downs again. 8. Reusing jars to store dry food stuff. 9. Cutting open toothpaste tubes and using every last drop of toothpaste in it 10. Pouring some water in shampoo bottles / body wash bottles / face wash tubes etc and using it up completely till nothings left! 11. Saving plastic bags we get at the grocery stores and reusing them to store vegetables, to wrap children's lunch boxes in so they don't ruin the backpacks, or returning them to the store to be reused.

I just got some reusable pads, I used them for one cycle and I am inLOVE! They're so pretty, they don't smell, you just put one on and if it gets dirty you fold it up, and put it in your wetbag. There's less wetness, and you don't have to go round the house with a plastic bag gathering them up for the bin, they don't stick to your pubes...They have changed my life. Obviously if I didn't have access to running water, it wouldnt be doable, but since I do, it's great. I love it.
Same!! I bought some to try them out and DIY'ed a few more from old t-shirts for the beginning and ends of my cycle. The only downside is you have to clean them and I really don't mind it. I just put them on the floor of the shower to save water.

Where I live there seems to be a trend of collecting used food jars to use as vases and then giving them away afterwords. Like ask on facebook for this spesific style jar. It might be normal evrywhere, but if not; it should be 😁
Bella Morris Dude if you are on the Journey to Zero Waste group on Facebook you will find a TON of ideas there if you need them. Lots of people on there who have done zero waste weddings.
My sister will be using all kinds of jars as candle holders/flower vases for her wedding. And she's using paper rolls (with the ends bent in and tied with a ribbon) as packaging for favours for the wedding party.
A girlfriend of mine washes her clothes after one use - when I found that out I was flabbergasted! I push my clothes to the limit and even pull them out of the laundry if they don't smell bad.....I admit... :D
Lightening the color of fabric is really tricky, especially depending on the fiber content. If it's poly anything you would probably have to do a layer/layers of sheer white fabric, or lace over it (Which could be really pretty?) and if it's anything natural, any kind of treatment to the fabric could harm the integrity of the fabric of the dress, and any inner structure (boning, interfacing, etc.) that gives the dress its shape. Hope that helps a little bit!
I was thinking that overlaying some white lace over the green dress could work really nicely to make it into a unique wedding dress, too. It wouldn't be completely white, of course, but it could also be done so it'd be reversible if she wanted to keep the dress to wear again someday when wearing white wouldn't be appropriate.
Awesome content thank you! One item I reuse is cardboard, or the plastic cover of a paper notebook, to line the bottom of reusable shopping bags. This makes the bags more sturdy and items stand upright better as well. I get a lot of comments from grocery store employees who think it’s such a great idea; I think it’s so simple I am surprised more people don’t do this! Just cut the piece to size and slip it in and you’re good to go. I find if the cardboard is covered in plastic/shiny coating that’s printed on, this is good because it’s moisture resistant and easy to clean up by wiping down with a damn cloth. And it’s not going to landfill!
Please make this a regular series on your channel - I loved it! My family has always been into reusing stuff - it’s just how I was raised I guess. It’s also a lot cheaper than buying new things all the time. Here are some of my ideas that we do: - 2l ice cream containers as storage containers for food or art supplies or anything really - shoeboxes to organise clothes in my cupboard (Marie Kondo taught me this) - old plastic Ferrero Rocher containers to organise my drawers - My mom diy-ed our old wooden door into a table, which is gorgeous af - any gift wrap or bags or ribbons I’m given gets reused for other gifts - I reuse an old bamboo sock as a duster (pop your hand in there and it’s super easy to wipe surfaces down without getting dust everywhere) - old cotton clothing becomes rags for cleaning
Lol sounds like we grew up the same! My grandma and I also used the empty 12 pk cartons from sodas, we'd wrap them in pretty cloth scraps, and used them for storing different canned goods...everything got reused!

I'm a swimmer, and when my goggles break its usually just one goggle that breaks. So I keep the non-broken one, buy a new pair, and when one of the goggles breaks from that pair, I just put the two non-broken goggles together. It's like getting 3 pairs out of 2!
I personally find both of them unnecessary. It's way more fun to just decorate a plant you have sitting around anyways like a Monstera or a Ficus. Another option is to just buy or cut off two or three fir branches and decorate them on a nice plate with a candle and some chestnuts or fir cones :))
In the Netherlands you can get a real tree right before Christmas and give it back after the holidays. It will be replanted and you might get the very same tree the next year. Otherwise I guess a fake tree is more sustainable. I remember my parents having the same fake tree for about 20 years.
Ooh, that's a tough one that I wrestled with for years! Ultimately, I decided on an artificial tree. But, I got a good quality one that was pre-lit with remote controlled color-change LED's and thick full branches that will hold my heaviest ornaments reliably. Basically, I'm banking on never having to buy another tree again. I do buy natural wreaths, tho. I love the smell, and they're generally made with the cutoffs from people's trimmed xmas trees.
There is a cool service in my area where you can ‘rent’ a live Christmas tree. They bring it to you a few days before Christmas, the roots wrapped in cloth, and pick it up a couple of days after New Year’s Day to replant it. I love this idea so much that I’m doing it this year as well.
I reuse salad tub because a store I go to has bulk salad but reusable bags dry out the lettuce so I bought a plastic tub of salad mix and reuse. Also what you can do is find second hand lace, get a seamstress to see you an outer layer and have a lacy white dress that has a pretty green under layer
I bought a vintage lace dress from Etsy for about $50 and it was just the outer lace part, so I wore a pink satin chemise under it, it looked really pretty, so I think the green and lace would be lovely.
I’ve definitely done the hair tie thing. I just washed it good 🤷🏽♀️ other things I reuse: -cloth pads -cloth diapers -I reuse inserts from my diapers to dust -I also reuse inserts to wipe up literally anything -reusable tissues -I actually have reusable toilet paper😂 aka rags cause I’m allergic to tp and I just use a bidet to clean and a rag to dry. This really freaks people out though.

All that lint in the dryer is what made me realize I'm wearing out my clothes with every wash/dry cycle. So re-wearing your clothes makes sense for several reasons.
It’s wild for me what things are concidered weird for Americans, obviously the clothes thing and especially reusing a dress for multiple events. Mindblowing for me that you’re expected to buy a new one every time:D
Most of the time people buy a new dress for a different event because each event is different. Typically only very wealthy people buy new dresses every occasion. Most middle-class people have one or two dresses they could wear for any occasion and will buy a new dress to fit a specific occasion when it comes up.
The joke about bridesmaid dresses is because bridesmaids are often made to wear dresses they don’t actually like and don’t want to wear again - not that we are expected to wear a new dress to every event. I’ve worn a bridesmaid dress to like 5 different weddings. The one I didn’t like much I sold on Facebook Marketplace. At the school where I work, lots of girls even buy each other’s prom dresses second hand. These generalizations about “how Americans are” are just... 🤦🏻♀️
This has only really become a thing since social media became big. The idea is you don't want the pictures to all look like they're from the same night. Not that I support this idea, that's just what it comes from.

Haha i wear my jeans , pyjamas/sweats and bras so often between washing i often don’t remember when it was last washed. Usually i wear my clothes until it smells or has stains on it.
I work at a grocery store and the amount of plastic bags/plastic produce bags I see scattered around is amazing. As I'm grabbing carts I'll pick them up, put them in my pocket, and put them in the recycling bin. I'm the only one doing it (that I know of) but just thinking of how many bags just i have picked up makes me smile :)

similar to reusing your clothes (which i also do), i reuse my cloth napkins for a day or two before i wash them, unless they get really dirty fast. i got the idea from my aunt. i really like this video as a potential series!
Luckily, bridesmaids aren't really a thing where I come from, so I can get away with going to weddings in whatever formalwear I can borrow from my sister. I'd hate to spend money on a garment I don't even like. Also, not washing your clothes every day (with the exception of underwear) is not weird at all. I keep myself clean, what's the point in washing a shirt I wore even if it still smells exactly like it did straight out of the washer?
Exactly. I always thought it was weird how weddings work in the US. And as for washing clothes - most of it can be worn multiple times until it gets smelly or dirty, so I agree with you
I reuse the plastic cutlery that restaurants give us(even when we ask for none), also plastic straws. Restaurants don't care that we tell them no straws, so me and my husband carry plastic ones in case I ever forget my metal ones.

Two things: after watching a previous video of yours, I found a hairtie and now reuse it - it's actually my favorite hair tie and I haven't lost it yet. Aaaand, lice will only be a problem with hairties if there's still hair attached - lice and their eggs need heat to live, so the only risk of lice is if a hair has an egg on it and hasn't been without a warm scalp for too long.
I did a similar thing with a hair tie I found! I found one of those really nice coiled (plastic?) ones on the ground at a school team competition, asked around, no one claimed it, so now it's my keyring!
I don't have those little reusable cloth bags so I just bring plastic bags from my earlier shopping into the store and reuse them. I have a whole drawer of them from the time when I used way too many bags and I've decided not to buy reusable bags until I run out of them.
I’ve started re-using a jar that had curry sauce in it as my container for taking home made soup to work each day. I used to always use plastic Tupperware boxes but they kept going missing when I left them on the draining board at work after washing them. No one wants to steal my re-used glass jar though. Jokes on them. It’s the perfect portion size for lunch and takes up less space in my bag. They don’t know what they’re missing 😝

Any plastic bags from food (from vegan chicken strips, large chip bags, etc) get saved for cat litter. I love that when my family comes over now they ask "Are you saving this?" before throwing away almost anything.
I love your channel and the fact that you always bring "weird" as in not the mainstream "use a reusable bottle" tips because I either feel less alone or learn a new great thing to implement!
when i was in high school and college, i used to keep this eos hand cream container that i would refill with any available hand cream at my house whenever it was empty.

My local store doesn't have much of a bulk section and we can't use our own containers, so if I do use their plastic bags I reuse it multiple times and then use it the last time as a doggy poop bag.

A petition blew up about it and made the notion go viral but the plastic waste was never directly connected to Aldi (it was most likely dumped by some other secondary transporter/disposer) and Aldi happens to be TJ's parent company, but that's FAR from the same thing as TJ's doing it. No need to get people turned off from a broadly ethical, highly useful company just because of a pretty unsubstantiated and slightly skewed accusation.

Loved this one shelb! My fav thing I've crafted out of reused items is a soap dish/container for the shower that I made from an old plastic food tupperware, then poked wooden BBQ skewers through the bottom to keep the soapproped off the bottom to keep it dry!
When I had long hair I collected hair ties. Washed with soap and water than in rubbing alcohol, and let air dry. The rubbing alcohol kills bacteria by drying it up.
Great! Just be careful, because the rubbing alcohol doesn't kill lice...it will remove them from what they are on, (makes them "drunk" so to speak so they let go of what they are clinging to) but they will still be alive, so just use caution and look to make sure that there are no lice on there.
Beth Wade lice die off in 72 hours (I think. Might be less than that) if they don’t have a host. So you could also put the elastics in a sealed plastic bag for a few days the lice will die off that way
@@aamandazittlau5505 They could still have some food sources from bits of skin and hair protein left on the hairties. Better safe than sorry, wash the thing thoroughly, run some smoke under it (sage works great) to make any small mites and lice jump off (do so outdoors), hit it with some kind of antiseptic, THEN throw it in a bag in the freezer for a few days, THEN run it through the wash ... not that I'd go through all that, I use stuff right off the ground and eat off the ground and don't care lol, but if I were actually intending to confidently decontaminate a hairtie with unknown history, I wouldn't trust a short time-without-a-host to kill any parasites.

I just got my first thinx underwear and I’m really excited to try them! I’m wearing a pair right now along with my diva cup because I bleed a lot 🤷🏻♀️ I finally managed to fully replace tampons with my cup last month for my whole period and I felt so accomplished! Now for the pads 🙏
I feel the hard-flow struggles too. Today i was only wearing my highwaisted heavyduty thinx and i had like two cups worth of blood in those poor undies but they held up. I got home put in my cup and washed the thinx. I need to order more of these.

i love this. i recently looking into ways to to lower my impact and some of these zero waste things just kind of feel a little commercial to me; Like my grandma has a ton of plastic stuff; However, she has like Chinese take-out containers stacked up in her garage that she has been using for 1à years (not even kidding) and while that may not look like as eco friendly as fancy stainless steel containers, I think putting in the effort to re-use a take out container for a decade seems pretty ecological to me
Ha same!! I’ve even made my own fabric refresher with water, alcohol and whatever fragrancey softener I’m into. The addition of 70%-90% alcohol really changed the game for me
I have one pair of period undies and i dont want to use a single use pad or my cloth pad(we're not good friends, it moves to much), so i just hand washed it with fabric soap and now its airdrying for me to wear for going out tonight. So you definetely didn't ask but yes i am sitting on my shark week towel in a homeshirt and nothing else. Wow. Reading this again, this is way to much info. But yeah, i re-wear stuff a lot. I have a shelf in my closet for things i wore once and can wear again. Like a sweater i only needed that night but might need again that week. Or a certain color pants.
you can actually record sound with your screen recording! press and hold the screen record button and there is a little thing on the bottom that will pop up saying “microphone on/off” and just make sure it’s on when you go to start your recording 😊

You can find me in a cinema multiple times a month so getting food is just way to expensive, I can't even remember the last time I had popcorn😅 just bring a water bottle and enjoy the movie without making unnecessary noise eating (or smuggle some crisps in).

@supernova i am well aware of how much the popcorn costs. So with that logic I can go into any store and just take something without paying because every store marks up the merchandise no matter how much they pay for it. Whatever helps you sleep at night but what she did was steal no matter how much it cost the company. She did not pay for it.

Yaaay, I save and reuse the celery produce rubber bands on my reusable Mason jar boba drink glass! 😁💖🤗💖. It prevents condensation from making the glass slippery, and doubles as a hot drink insulation so myself and the coffee attendant don't burn our hands.
yesssss reusing toothbrushes for cleaning is a life changer!!! i also love reusing dresses (bridesmaids or otherwise) to weddings or fancy events. i make it challenge to reuse them as many times as i can - so fun! oh, and i reuse ziplock bags and jars/containers all. the. time. hand washing the ziplock bags can be a hassle, but worth it.
I resuse toothbrushes for cleaning! I try to resuse my imperfect produce boxes for storage or other things. And as a teacher, there's always so much extra paper, so I put it in a scratch paper bucket to use the other side!

I love this topic! I would love to see more ideas. Things that I have reused have been toilet paper rolls as seedling cups during planting my garden, big containers of nuts as containers for flour/sugar, all sorts of recyclable things as planters for indoor plants, I cut up old cotton t-shirts to use as handkerchiefs, and I use every scrap of paper for doodling, collage, or notes lists.
